235/65 16 Tyre Review Highlights

Michelin Agilis CrossClimate rated 93% while driving a Ford Benimar Tessoro T486
Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 average miles
I fitted a set of Agilis CrossClimates to our motorhome for a trip to the North Cape in October/November. The base vehicle is a Mk8 Ford Transit and, fully loaded, the weight is around 3.6 - 3.7 tons. The chosen route was up the east coast of Sweden, then through the north west corner of Finland to the top of Norway. The return was down the west coast of Norway. Research suggested some snow was probable, with lots of single figure sub-zero temperatures and we should be away from the area before the real Arctic winter conditions set in.
The CrossClimates replaced a set of Goodyear summer tyres, which were the factory original fit. Initially they felt what I can only describe as a bit "floaty" at higher speeds (60mph), though this wasn't noticeable at lower speeds (say 40mph). I think they still do feel like that, but I've got used to it.
The snow started just north of Pitea; within 30 miles we were on hard packed snow and that was it for the rest of the way up. One day in Finland we covered around 230 miles on packed snow, with -6C being the maximum temperature. During the trip overall, we drove around 2000 miles on damp or wet roads at, or just above, freezing. We drove perhaps 1500 miles in conditions that were as bad as anything we are ever likely to see during a really severe UK winter; slush, snow, ice, temperatures down to -11C. The tyres were absolutely superb: they hauled us up 3rd gear hills, they steered around hairpin bends, they retarded our speed down "use low gear" hills. They never gave us a single scary moment, they rarely struggled for grip and it was readily restored with just a little bit less power. The worst we got was momentary significant understeer on a bend going up a mid-gear hill on a snowy & icy road. There was good feedback through the steering when the tyres were unhappy. The grip on ice exceeded my expectations; we stopped in a sloping car park that was so icy we could hardly stand. We got straight back into the motorhome and were able to drive away with only momentary wheel spin as we started to move.
As for more normal wet & dry conditions, we haven't had to test the limits of grip, but they never give any hint of a lack of grip. The level of comfort is good, similar to the previous summer tyres. There is a noticeable sound from the tyres on some road surfaces that we didn't get with the previous tyres; not loud, not unpleasant, just noticeable. After the 5500 miles of the trip, I was unable to measure any difference in tread depth with my basic tread depth gauge.
Overall, I was really impressed with the winter performance of these all-season tyres. They made the trip possible, they were safe, they took away the anxiety of driving in conditions that I haven't encountered in decades.

Dynamo HISCEND H MC02 rated 94% while driving a Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van
Driving on mostly motorways for 30000 spirited miles
I’m a courier doing regular trips across the continent from UK to Poland. I was looking for the best price to value ratio tyre for obvious reasons with the job I do. The Dynamo MC02 van tyres came highly recommended by a colleague so I gave them a go. I’ve been through a couple of sets now and am happy to give a very positive review. They’re somehow very puncture resistant, a plague in my trade, I’ve notably had substantial decrease in punctures. Good mileage, smooth driving and quiet. With rotation I got about 45,000km. Dynamo are the best value van tyres out there in my opinion. There are cheaper options out there but with less mileage and other problems that Dynamo don’t.

Maxxis VanSmart AS AL2 rated 65% while driving a Mercedes Benz s420
Driving on mostly motorways for 3200 average miles
Grip on a dry road without sands or stone pebbles on the surface very good result. Grip on a wet nonadhesive binder Couse asphaltic surface 4.5/10. Grip on a wet adhesive wearing Couse asphaltic surface 7/10. Wear rate is determined by the ruggedness of the driver's use of brake and in what speed he apply brake, usually between 30 months and 48 months. Tyres generally are comfortable if the psi rule are strictly adhered to.

Michelin Agilis CrossClimate rated 98% while driving a Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van
Driving on a combination of roads for 0 spirited miles
These tyres must be the best on the market, The pictures of them don't do them justice. I have never had tyres like these, the traction they give is outstanding, they look fantastic and the performance is fantastic. They are quiet and give you confidence on all surfaces and in all weather, The tread is chunky and is the tyre for anyone looking for traction and braking power, I only wish they made a size to fit my 4x4.

Nexen Roadian CT8 rated 86% while driving a Volkswagen Crafter
Driving on a combination of roads for 20 average miles
Nexen Roadian CT8 are the tyres I bought instead of previous Infinity tyres, which were horrible.
CT8 are actually great choice for the price, I will most probably buy them again. Two seasons done perfect with them, I believe around 30.000 km.

Rovelo RCM 836 rated 16% while driving a Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van
Driving on a combination of roads for 500 average miles
I'm from Germany and i bought the tyre for the MB Sprinter 319 Blue Tec.
I never have had such bad tyres. The Van is always "swimming", if you have to go to the Highway, all over 120 km/h is surely immpossible to drive.

Pirelli Chrono Winter rated 100% while driving a Volkswagen Crafter
Driving on mostly town for 2000 average miles
Ok, I have a VW Crafter and had Infinity tyres before these ones. Those were horrible. Dangerous even on dry, not to mention wet, mud or snow - on snow I would rather rent another van and leave my own at home.
Anyway, I was looking for a cheap way out to buy tyres because this van is not the primary vehicle of mine. Hence, found these Pirelli Chrono Winter at half price because 6 years old DOT, but new ones: were stored at good conditions in the seller's storage.
Never had better tyres. They grip on mud, wet, dry, snow, ice, they look great, are quiet, lowered fuel consumption, and I can't really think of one complaint. I've put this van back in business. Highly recommended tyres. I'm hooked to Pirelli now.

Infinity INF100 rated 54% while driving a Volkswagen Crafter
Driving on a combination of roads for 20 easy going miles
Well, they were cheap. We had some other Infinity tyres on another van and were pretty pleased by them. These tyres on a VW Crafter van were not good. The van is very light at the rear when empty and with these tyres I could make a drift. Good thing we are good drivers, me and my bro. Maybe they work better on some smaller or heavier van.

Maxtrek MAXIMUS M1 rated 33% while driving a Suzuki 2000 vatari jx2.0
Driving on a combination of roads for 0 average miles
Simply dangerous in the wet, I have a them on a 4x4 on the front, might as well be made of wood, even in four wheel drive going round a corner is a case of will I make it, go near the brakes on damp roads and you will skid or your ABS will take its own life. IF YOU LOVE LIFE AVOID THESE AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

Yokohama W Drive rated 95% while driving a Kia Motors Sportage
Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 average miles
Not pushed these tyres to the limit as I am not generaly a fast driver and my first winter with these fitted was unusually mild but I grip has been excellent. The only tiome they broke traction was on a wet diesel covered roundabout and the car refused to turn. The tyes eventually bit and I carried on without too much drama unlike a previous motorist who had skidded off. Wear is so far good and ride is comfortable and quiet.
