225/60 18 Tyre Review Highlights

Cooper Discoverer Enduramax rated 90% while driving a Subaru Outback
Driving on mostly country roads for 4000 average miles
Bought these to replace the OEM Yokahama Avid tires on 2024 Subaru Outback Onyx Edition, especially with winter coming. Purchased at Sam's Club for $168.00 per tire-not a bad price at all. The tread is definitely not an aggressive off-road or even AT tread, but the tire is 3 peak mountain winter rated and is made with off-road durability. I have been on some long gravel and small rocky roads and have not even noticed a chip in the tread. On road handling is fine with just a bit of road noise from the tread pattern, which while not an AT pattern, is somewhat aggressive for a road tire. Coupled with the Subaru's AWD system, the tire performed great in several inches of both powdery and wet snow. Likewise, traction of ice was confidence inspiring if you paid attention to your driving. With over 4000 miles on these tires, I would not hesitate to recommend them and wish Subaru would make them their OEM tires! Highly recommended tire.

Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 rated 84% while driving a Honda CRV
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 average miles
Excellent winter/Snow and ice and wet tyre, performance, very responsive too (I immediately noticed the response change, changing from "Saferich" summer tyre)
These sottozero 3 tyres are expensive, but they Really deliver in the winter,
I will keep to These tyres for many winters to come

Pirelli Scorpion ATR rated 72% while driving a Land Rover Range Rover TD6
Driving on a combination of roads for 10 average miles
Fitted on Range Rover L322 (2002 model.) The car is driven across Europe twice a year and kept in the Alps over winter so sees a bit of everything, and I chose all season tyres to avoid having to change them twice a year. Behaves perfectly well in normal conditions, also in the wet, and in moderate snow, eg on the highways which are gritted and salted. However, in more difficult winter conditions (particularly on deep / hard packed snow) I have had big problems. I skidded across a car park after the slightest touch on brakes because there was hard show under a soft layer. I had a terrifying descent into the village on packed snow,I kept losing traction and had to crawl at 5mph to the frustration of following cars fitted with winter tyres. I got stuck halfway up a steep snow covered road in the middle of a 3-point turn, i.e. side-on to the downhill slope, and every time I did anything it threatened to slide sideways down the hill into parked cars. On this and several other occasions I had to use chains just to get out of the situation safely, when nobody else seemed to need them. Now I run Continental TS850 dedicated winter tyres during the winter and they are simply awesome on the steepest slopes and all kinds of snow. I've never used the chains since. The Pirelli Scorpion ATR is a good al rounder (I still fit them in summer/autumn) but don't make the mistake of thinking they will suffice in heavy show or you'll be in for a shock.

Cooper Discoverer HT Plus rated 39% while driving a Ford
Driving on mostly motorways for 12 easy going miles
Had Cooper Discover H/T Plus installed on a 2013 F150, supposedly with 60K warranty. I got 12K miles before all the wear bars shown through.
Although a comfortable and good riding tire - way too expensive if they need to be replaced every 12K miles.
So dissapointed.

Michelin Primacy 4 Plus rated 78% while driving a Subaru Outback
Driving on a combination of roads for 1500 average miles
My tyres are Primacy+ SUV which I believe is equivalent to Primacy 4+ in Australia for this size of tyre. It's early days, but initial impressions are very positive. Grip in all conditions seems to be excellent, as does braking performance. I have not specifically rated wear (too soon) or handling (not tried anything beyond routine suburban and highway driving). The Subaru Outback is fairly softly sprung and the tyre certainly complements that, giving an excellent ride. At first I thought the steering seemed a bit light and slightly flighty but then I discovered that the fitting centre had managed to get a 6lb difference between the pressures across the axle (in fact every one of the tyres was at a different pressure, none of which were per the placard!). Having set the pressures correctly all round the slight lightness compared with the OE Bridgestone Dueler Sports remained, but the flightiness was gone. The steering is very linear and progressive and the car tracks true even in cross-winds. Note these are touring, not sports, tyres and their characteristics (especially with a 60-profile side wall) reflect that. If you want precision, get Pilot Sports or Pirelli PZ4s which is what I have on my other cars. Initially the tyres were not as quiet as I had expected, but they seem to be improving as they wear in a little. In any event they are a definite improvement on the Duelers in that respect. I have an impression that the rolling resistance is better, leading to slightly improved fuel consumption, which will be tested when we do our first long trip on these tyres in a few weeks' time. Overall, I'm very positive, as I would have expected given previous/current experience on different cars with Michelin's Primacy ST, Primacy 3, Primacy 4 and Pilot Sport 2 & 4.

Pirelli CINTURATO P7 rated 78% while driving a BMW X4 20d X drive
Driving on mostly motorways for 0 spirited miles
great tire, i have put them on my bmw x4 g02 , coming from summer bridgestone alenza to this the difference is very big, it handles great even for a suv the car is more sharp in corners, would like to add they are summer tires not runflat in the rain they handle above average, they do need to warm up a bit before they grip well, this also applies for when it doesnt rain only downside is once they get warm they steer a bit harder this is ofc because they grip more, another down side once they are warm is that they are pretty sticky and grab on to a lot of dirt

Vredestein Quatrac Pro rated 55% while driving a Subaru Outback
Driving on mostly country roads for 8500 easy going miles
UPDATE. On November 12, 2021 I posted my initial review of this tire (Quatrac Pro 225/60/18) mounted on Subaru Outback. Here is an update after only 14k kms of easy driving. The tires are not "holding up.)." Shortly after initial installation I noticed vibrations. I attempted to balance them twice and rotated them. No results. Finally, the third time last Fall, an expert with a Hunter Road Force machine had a try. Three out of 4 tires showed defect... exerting way excessive Nm force. (110, 120, and 140) FYI. 90 or below is normal, I was told. I wrote to Vredestein customer service here in Germany about it but they brushed me off twice. Talk to the dealer answer. So, I decided to keep them over the winter and now I will discard them off and look for something else. Good that I have kept OEM wheels. (Vredestein were installed on "fancy" Flow Form Enkei rims which were also checked for the possible contribution to the problem but came clean) Again, the car was driven regularly although sparingly and never off road to cause damage to the tires. So, in this case not a quality tire and not a quality customer service. However, must report that in late 202 (after being impressed with the tire) 1 I have also installed same Qatar Pro tires on my Subaru XV (225/55/18 this time) and after 20k kms absolutely no balancing/quality problems. Wear is good and perfect.ly normal. Go figure, as they say.

Bridgestone Dueler HP Sport rated 61% while driving a Subaru Outback
Driving on a combination of roads for 30000 average miles
These tyres were OE fitment on the 2018 Subaru Outback Premium 2.5 which we bought new. They're about to be replaced, being down to around 2.6 mm after c. 52,000 km. They've been fine, just one puncture (repairable), have been rotated regularly and have worn very evenly and are still in excellent condition (no sidewall deterioration, cracking or uneven tread wear issues) so construction quality seems good. I'm always very careful to keep pressures checked and adjusted for different load conditions and summer temperatures. They're fairly soft riding, so I rate ride comfort as good, but they are quite noisy on common Australian country road coarse chip tarmac (though quiet on smooth bitumen). I wouldn't rate feedback as high, but that is partly down to the car, and they're an SUV tyre after all. They've never lost traction on the road even in the wet, but the Subaru is no powerhouse so that's hardly surprising. They are pretty good on gravel roads and tracks given they are really a road tyre but predictably don't have much grip if it's at all muddy. Overall I'd say they were perfectly suited to the car. The big surprise is the cost of replacement, where they are coming up significantly more expensive than options such as Michelin Pilot Sport SUV or Primacy SUV+, the Pirelli Scorpion Verde or Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance, so I'm likely to chose one of those options instead.

Hankook Kinergy 4S 2 X rated 73% while driving a Subaru subaru l series station wagon 4wd
Driving on mostly country roads for 1000 average miles
I have driven 1,000 miles on these tires in my Subaru Outback in the Northeast of the USA where we get 100 inches of snow per a season. So far I am very happy overall. The tires do give a firmer ride comfort. I believe I have lost about 1-2 mpg though.
