245/40 20 Tyre Review Highlights

Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 rated 96% while driving a Chevrolet
Driving on mostly country roads for 250 spirited miles
Driving a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro RS with staggered fitment. 245/40/20 up front and 275/35/20 on the back. I swapped over from Continentals Extreme Contact DWS06+ early-mid November and got a bit of dry driving bellow 50 degrees. In the dry and rainy conditions, they handle extremely similar to the Continentals, similar traction, sound, and handling around corners. We got a snow storm during Thanksgiving weekend and got some snow/ice driving early! The massive surprise is driving on Ice, you can feel the tires biting into the ice and giving you some tractions, although it feels rough compared to driving on snow. But the rough-ish ride on ice makes acts as an indicator for when you've cleared the ice and back on snow/pavement. The tires also grab and go in snow/slush, providing a comfortable ride that gives you plenty of feedback to what kind/type of snow your tires are hitting. Overall, these tires have done great and haven't made me regret buying them in any condition. Weather its dry conditions before snow falls and you need to quickly accelerate, driving in rainy conditions, or safely driving a muscle car through a snow storm, Pirelli Sottozero 3's have got you covered!

Gripmax Status Pro Winter rated 76% while driving a BMW X3m
Driving on mostly town for 30000 average miles
Bought these tires new in 2019. Used them during the winter only 2019/2020/2021 and then they remained mounted through 2022 and until July 2023.
Front 240/40R20 and rear 275/35R20.
They served really well until cca apr-may 2023 when I first started noticing mild vibrations. I wrote it off on disbalancing. By mid July the vibrations became so strong I decided to visit the shop just to find that 3 out 4 tires had sever deformations.
Front tires had their inner walls started bubbling and one rear tire was so deformed on its contact surface that it looked like a wave. Luckily I had a set of summers sitting somewhere so I convinced the shop to put the winter tires back on so I can drive home and return with summers for change...
Perhaps my laziness with tire swapping costed me perfectly good winter tires or perhaps its durability is subpar to better brands.
Either way, I would gladly use them again and hopefully with a proper seasonal swap they could last couple of years longer :)

Linglong Sport Master rated 80% while driving a Volvo S90 R Design
Driving on a combination of roads for 700 average miles
Very good tyres for that range of price. Dry and wet grip performance are quite good for a budget tyre. The wear i will see, only have 1000 km with them. Volvo S90 T8 Plug-in R-Design with a weight of 2150kg, 245/40R20.

Bridgestone Potenza S001 rated 42% while driving a BMW 730d
Driving on mostly motorways for 150 average miles
Shockingly bad in the wet. I have new 7 series xDrive. Tyres were produced 8 weeks ago and fitted 2 weeks ago. Drove through roundabout at moderate speed in the rain, under steer (in xDrive!) and slides 1 meter almost crashing into another car on the round about. On the way back on motorway standard 70 mph, some rain and when chanting lanes back or the car lost grip twice (oversteer). Premium tyres recommended as best for 7 series by BMW!!! Those are the worst tyres I ever had and it costed me £1500 (rear tyres wider and more expansive). Stay away from those.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10 rated 82% while driving a Jaguar XJ (X351) LWB 5.0L Supercharged
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 easy going miles
Nokian Hakka 10 is an exceptional tire in the worst winter conditions. Exceptional ice cornering, braking and acceleration. Quietest studded tire I have had to date. Tires still measure at 9/32nds after 10,000 kms of winter use. Only complaint is the tire gives you very little feedback on dry/wet conditions

Goodride SA05 rated 53% while driving a Infiniti M
Driving on mostly motorways for 10000 average miles
Budget tyres that would be ok for pottering around town but on faster cars and driving in the wet, get something better. They are also incredibly noisy once they are past about 50% wear, they resonate and drone and sound like all your wheel bearings have gone at the same time above 45mph. Might be ok as a stop gap, but if you want proper tyres, these are not it.

Falken Azenis FK510 rated 91% while driving a Lincoln 2019 Continental 3.0 AWD
Driving on a combination of roads for 14000 average miles
Long story short, Dry handling in South-East Europe is such that a Lincoln Continental on FK510 feels better and more precise than a Mustang GT on Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2. It's just satisfying to drive. I had a 6 seconds of aquaplaning in a curve with initial speed of 105 km/h and and speed of 80 km/h. Lost all visibility through front and side windows as well as the glass roof, yes, I had that much time to look around. Water ended, the car was still in the middle of the left lane where it was initially. The baby and the wife were sleeping in the back seat. Obviously I'll swear in those tyres for the rest of my life. At 14k mi they are around 5-5.5 mm thread, so three seasons will be their life. It'd be two seasons if it were not for pandemic. They are sensitive to heat and the inflation pressure should be adjusted according to the month and weather. Very quiet and for such small sidewall they ride exceptionally well. Incomparably better than the OE Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S with acoustic foam.

Vredestein Ultrac Vorti rated 87% while driving a Opel Astra J 2.0 CDTI
Driving on mostly country roads for 13000 spirited miles
Excellent tyre, much better than Rainsoport 5 and Prem Cont 6. In dry "feels like" semislick.

Falken FK453 rated 58% while driving a Mercedes Benz S400 W222
Driving on mostly motorways for 25000 spirited miles
The Falken Azensis F453 offers better than expected dry performance and grip for a big luxury saloon. The tyre manages dry grip well enough, to hold the large luxury saloon on to the line in corners through low - mid speed city and high speed motorways cat and mouse chases. But, braking on the dry is a bit worrying, on numerous occassion the ABS had to intervene really aggressively. Braking grip on offer makes me feel that the brakes are too strong for the wheels. Wet performance is not the tyres strength, especially in tropical monsoon rain, with many water puddles. The tyre does not inspire confidence, conversely i fear of aquaplaning so much that i give up the chase against a honda city. >.

Radar Dimax R8 plus rated 97% while driving a Jaguar 2014 XJL, X351 3.0L Diesel LWB 275BHP
Driving on a combination of roads for 13000 spirited miles
I have purchased these tyres one year ago and did over 13000 miles on them. I can now say they are in the mid of their life. I purchased two sizes: 245/40/20 front and 275/35/20 rear. I am very satisfied with them in any weather condition. I feel safe with them. I am not a slow driver- I'm a dynamic driver. I can recommend them with my honest opinion. Negatives - not so deep rim protection.
