255/45 20 Tyre Review Highlights

Pirelli Scorpion rated NAN% while driving a Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2,0 280 hp
Driving on for 0 miles
It is not a review YET, but this might help others considering the tire anyway but lacking the information on their performance. I could not find reviews or ratings of Scorpion anywhere. On this site there was an almost two years old press realise which sounded good, that was all. Not counting one skimpy review. Breakthrough....a major Pirelli dealer in Poland told me that this is essentially the same tire as new Cinturato P7C2. They came on the market at the same time....P7C2 for cars and Scorpion for SUVs. This information was confirmed by Pirelli's German customer service. Cinturato P7C2 has great reviews....also on this site. So I bought them for my Alfa Romeo Stelvio. I wanted a good noise, wet, and comfort ratings. Already have them mounted but still riding on winter wheels for another month or so. Will report later my thoughts on them.

Bridgestone Dueler HP Sport rated 60% while driving a Audi Q5
Driving on mostly country roads for 15000 average miles
Tyres are 3 years old and have just failed mot.
All 4 tyres have severe cuts in treads down to cords , I do not drive erratically, fast or off road.
Absolutely no idea why the tyres have gone this way and I will speak to Bridgestone.
Approximately £1000 for the set .
I will never buy Bridgestone again.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV rated 84% while driving a Mercedes Benz 190 2.3 16
Driving on a combination of roads for 20 easy going miles
I have used Vredestein Quatrac 5, Pirelli Scorpion Verde and Michelin Pilot Sport on my Mercedes GLC350D. The tyre sizes were 255 / 45 / R20 101W.

The Michelin PS4 tyres operate at +7°C to +40°C and are excellent in the summer wet and dry but not great (useless) in the winter snow & ice. The Michelin did perform better than the Vredestein Quatrac 5 or the Pirelli Scorpion Verde. I love this tyre.

With winter approaching, and tread wearing, I am now looking for a new set of tyres and am deliberating between the Pilot Sport 4 SUV and the Cross Climate 2. The Cross Climate 2 operates between -10°C to +30°C and will offer improved winter (snow) performance. The operating temperature should be ideal for the UK climate but I would like to better understand how much summer performance (braking, handling & stopping) I will sacrifice. Will I notice any significant difference in a 3.0litre, V6 Diesel SUV? It does not go on the track and is driven in Comfort Mode.

Both Michelin tyres get good write ups, hence my problem. Try something new (CC) or stick with the product PS4 that I know performs well 95% of the time.

1. Has there been a direct comparison between the Pilot Sport 4 and the Cross Climate 2?
2. Perhaps a comparison test would help many readers?
3. Does anyone have any direct experience?

Thank you

Bridgestone Turanza 6 rated 57% while driving a Infiniti QX50
Driving on mostly town for 9500 average miles
This new Bridgestone Turanza 6 is consider quite soft. Have to constantly keep the tire pressure @ a specific range, otherwise it will wear off very fast. Wet grip is good however dry grip doesn’t perform as good as I would expect to be. Currently tyres is at 15k km mark and is noisier than Turanza T005A @ the same mark. I reckon it doesn’t blend well with SUV.

Kinforest KF550 UHP rated 73% while driving a Mercedes Benz
Driving on mostly town for 16780 easy going miles
I replaced all the four original Pirelli Scorpion Verde MOE Run Flat tyres (255/45R20) tyres on my Mercedes Benz GLC250d (year 2018 model) in October 2021 with only 27000 kilometres clocked with four Kingforest KF550 tyres and now the two front Kingforest tyres had to be replaced, at 47110 kilometres. All the other areas of the Kingforest tyres are good except tyre wear: having to be replaced after less than two years and just 2000 kilometres.

Michelin CrossClimate SUV rated 70% while driving a Audi Q5
Driving on a combination of roads for 20 average miles
These tires were great for the first 15,000 miles (18 months). They began to growl after that and now at 20,000 miles they are annoyingly loud between 45 and 70 miles per hour. I am at the point of replacing them even though the tread wear is minimal. The tires have been rotated and I have experimented with different tire pressures to no avail. I contacted Michelin on their website but they never responded.

Hifly HP801 rated 20% while driving a Audi Q5
Driving on mostly country roads for 400 spirited miles
ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING! In fairness the worst tyre i've ever owned on any car! Started ok, drove 300 miles fine... in the dry. Rained.... OMG these are lethal, car slid sideways on a roundabout.... thought it was diesel.... 10 mins later almost did another slide on a slight bend had to correct before ending up in a ditch! Pulled over and ordered new tyres! They have done 350 miles and are coming off! Total waste of cash! But cheap deffo buy twice!

Michelin Pilot Sport EV rated 47% while driving a Hyundai Ioniq
Driving on a combination of roads for 14000 average miles
Never had such a poor tyre. Skids over manhole covers and slides for no apparent reason on mildly damp roads even at low speeds. Provides no confidence when driving and potentially extremely dangerous. Would expect a budget tyre to perform better. Michelin should be embarrassed to have this tyre in their range.
