Fantastic tyres.
During the recent snow I twice drove from Portsmouth PO8 to Bracknell via A3M, Selbourne, Alton, Odiham, Harley Whintney, Sandhurst return.
I could not believe how many cars, vans and lorries I passed which were either completely immobilised by the snow or were making almost no headway at all.
Between the A3 and Selbourne which is a back road there is quite a steep hill which last year in the snow stopped me and lots of others. This year there were about 7 cars and vans stopped between the bottom and three quarters up the hill. With my winter tyres and a little timing I set off up the hill to the amasement of all the stuck drivers and just drove straight up to the top! The rest of the trip was sureal as there were almost no other vehicles on the road only the odd 4x4 most of which seemed to be struggling more than me in my soft top front wheel drive TT.
My only dissapointment, I don't seem to be able to source them in 205 50 17 for my wifes Mazda 3 Sport.
I can not praise these Continentals enough, if you are thinking of buying winter tyres think no more just go and buy them!

Given 100% while driving a Volkswagen Passat 1.9 TDI Sport Estate (B5.5) (205/55 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 3,000 spirited miles
I was converted to winter tyres several years ago, starting off with some Toyo Snowprox (not great, but still significantly better than summer tyres) and for the past 2 or 3 winters I've used Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds which have been excellent.
This year I needed a new pair and decided to put a pair of Continental TS830s on the front, due to the good results they were getting in the european winter tyre tests.

They are simply awesome, and jaw-droppingly capable in snow. I'd probably rate them higher than the Wintersport 3Ds.
I can't recommend them enough.

If you've not used winter tyres yet, it's hard to explain how much better they are.
So, I have some in-car footage of them in action on my Passat:

Awsome grip on ice and snow.If UK goverment changes the transport laws to make compulary use of winter tyres Oct - April then maybe the country would not grind to a halt.
Great German product shows the way.

Indescribable amount of grip on snow, and the cold wet grip is better than my normal tyres ever were. Converted.
