Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D Reviews - Page 3

Bought these tyres because they have excellent marks in ADAC/OAMTC, AutoBild and other tests. They are simply brilliant. The only negative I can say is how long they last. I don't expect they will make 15,000 miles (25,000 km). But in this size it is not very unusual.

Given 87% while driving a Volkswagen Sharan SE 2.0TDi (215/55 R16 H) on a combination of roads for 16,000 spirited miles
An excellent Winter tyre from Dunlop. Fitted to the front (only) of my VW Sharan 2.0 TDi. First class performance in the snow. Also in the wet, resulting in them remaining on throughout the year. I wasmpressed with the wear also as got 16k miles out of them. Replaced with another pair such was my satisfaction. Buy them in summer and store them ready for winter is my advice as the price can rise. Overall: Highly Recommended.

!ts off its hard to rare these tyres against the scales above as they tend to be geared towards summer driving and these are winter tyres when you will adjust our driving style. That said these tyres eat snow for breakfast, love the cold (best below zero). I have summer tyres on a 4WD car and with the Winter 3Ds on a BMW (RWD) the BM was 100% better in the snow/ice/slush than the 4WD car.

Would I buy again, absolutely, but they're only on for approx 4 months so it'll be a few years before I need another set.

If you struggled with your summer tyres in the heavy snow / cold conditions the UK has experienced over the past 2 winters they get some for these tyres..... you wont be disappointed

Given 80% while driving a Audi S3 (225/40 R18) on mostly country roads for 200 spirited miles
I had a SWB Shogun with 'sport' tyres that we supposedly good on snow too - the truth was that the oversized tyres were like rubber rings and were simply useless! My S3 was supprisingly much more capable on snow and ice than the Shogun. The problem was stopping! After much searching and reading of reviews I ended up with a set of SP 3D and the difference is simply, astonishing. The moment I pulled out of the garage with my new tyres (3-4inches of snow lying at the time) I instantly noticed the difference. Up hills on deep snow, ice, slush and compacted snow the car sailed up with no spinning whatsoever. Stopping is obviously not the same as on a dry road, but the difference is fantastic. I managed to stop and start on hills my Dad's Nissan Patrol (with all terrains) struggled with. If you are unsure about an making an investment in winter tyres, I wouldn't give it another thought. The safety alone is worth every penny. The look on people's faces when I motor pass then in an arrow straight line is pretty good too! I shall never have a car without winter tyres on during the winter months again!

These tyres are brilliant. Granted I don't have any other winter tyres to compare against, but in Snow/Slush/Ice/Standing Water they really inspire confidence.

These have transformed our BMW 1 Series from a Snow no-go, to a Snow Hero.

Hi I bought the Dunlop Winter Sport tires this year before the snow started to fall only after reading reviews from a few countries and with tests by different independant organisations. I had used Michelin Energy Saver summer tires before which had come with my brnad new car that is less than one year old. I now have about 1,000 miles on the Dunlop's. First may I say that I have driven them in all kinds of conditons now and I am very pleased, satisfied. Why: for one, my car feels more secure on the road. My steering is more precise. With the Michelins I felt that the steering was less precise, less direct. Iamgine if you will driving at 100 km or 60 miles an hour on the highway.. now imagine chaging lanes..with the Dunlops I feel that when I make a steering change input it mkaes the move I want. The tires for winter tires are also quiet. I have used then in snow up to some 6-8 inches and not gotten stuck yet while others with mor eexpensive cars get stuck in parking lots and on roads. I would describe my driving as average. I am not a racer.

I thought driving in snow was only for people with big 4x4's until I discovered "WINTER TYRES" these Dunlop 3D's are just amazing, it should be law to have them fitted in the UK as it is in many other countires during the winter months.
I have followed 4x4's up hill and down hill in my Golf Plus, today a car coming in the opposite direction slowed down to say there was no way through "ONLY 4x4's are getting through, I said I have winter tyres on and he laughed, I said just watch and see how they work.....I was away up the hill and gone, I would have loved to see his face, I bet he tells everyone!!
Fit Winter Tyres you will be amazed!!!!

I bought this tyres according to Auto Bild's excellent mark. And now I can say this tyres are incredible. They are really good at dry roads and in snow. I have no problems to go wherever I want in winter. It's my second year with those tyres and they have a lot of grapple at this moment. I highly recommend them as one of the best winter tyre.

I have chosen Dunlop as my winter tyre, based on ADAC, Autobild, Auto moto und Sport and Le moniteur automobile winter tyre comparison, where this tyrewas best or amongst highly recommended.
So far, having driven it on sheet ice, standing water, 5-10cm of slush on very uneven road surface and recently through 10-15cm of snow (engine undertray was scraping the snow!), I have to admit I am astonished by the performance of this tyre.
Works perfectly with Mazda's (rather liberal! ) ESP, ABS/BAS and traction control.
In comparison with my previous winter tyre (Goodyear Ultra Grip 5), Dunlop is obviously better, in every way.
It's best feature: the way it stops on (not so smooth ) ice...incredible! My friend swalloed a chewing gum, while I were testing the tyres on huge, frozen parking lot!
