Bset tyre ever put on a lancer considering its price. Traction on dry...hmm..exceptional, on wet road..hmmm..good to great. Tyre does not last that long though because of such grip I think. Definitely buying another set

I have just put these on my focus 1.6 with after market 17s.
They are really good. Quieter than Goodyears, better in everyway to Accelera, (they are rubbish could spin the wheels in 3rd in the wet, with less than 100bhp!) There is a bit of noise but not too bad, worked well in the recent snow and grip well on roundabouts where the goodyears let go.
Overall very good and i want to put them on the back too, but will wait til after christmas.
Hope this helps.

Had these from new when I bought the car off a friend and they had just been put on. Got the car off him in January, its now late Oct the same year. Here are my views
Pro's -
Grip is really good in the dry, the car is a weighty beast but these hold it in corners and under acceleration really well.
Seem nice and progressive, so on dodgy welsh a/b roads with poor surfaces, when it does slide a little it's totally controllable and expected.
Rolling resistance seems pretty low, car carries speed off power nice and easy. Great in traffic jams when you just want to roll forward under gravity!
Plenty of braking power, brakes nice and straight, tested this a few times on motorway runs!!
Con's -
Grip in the wet is not the best especially as the tires get close to the wear indicators at about 3mm. Not as bad as the 'ditch finders' on my last car, but not confidence inspiring. If its a bit greasy, maybe some diesel down, they will slide out and the car will go straight on. Braking seems ok though.
Dire if you need to drive across a wet/muddy field!
Put 20K on them and the tires are down to 3mm on average, so wear seems a little high. But I do drive it hard. Rears are down to 5mm.
Tyre noise is ok at slower speeds, around 45-55 they are really noisy, almost like a resonant from them, so can grate a bit on your nerves on A/B road runs. Higher speeds noise tails off.
Overall seems a decent tire. Can't comment on cost as I didnt pay for them but as 9 months in with the tires and already need to replace the fronts I'm hoping they were reasonably priced.
I won't be buying again as their performance in the wet leads me to think they will be dire in the snow. As well as the noise as A road speeds driving me a bit mad at times. In a dry climate though, with decent roads, probably onto a budget winner.

I booked a pair of MAXIS MAZ1 tyres to replace my rear ones on my Mazda 5 Sport - Halfords fitted a pair of Nordexx Stratus(No area to rate these) instead as an 'upgrade' as the Maxxis were not available - the Nordexx were dire - with Dynamic Stability Control kicking in at the slightest excuse - with DSC off, the tyres sliding in the dry, and in the wet, positively dangerous, with over steer as the back slid out (with DSC off) - I complained and Halfords replaced the wrongly supplied Nordexx with my original choice - the Maxxis MAZ1 - what a difference.
The Maxxia was safe and sure footed - no slipping or sliding and the DSC not activating at all, even in the wet and pushing the car just to test the level of grip.
Much quieter that the Nordexx ones too.
The tread pattern is very similar to the Uniroyal Rainsport I have on the front.
Too soon to comment on wear, but the Mazda 5 is very hard on tyres anyway.
I would, based on the use to date, buy the MAXXIS MAZ1 Tyres again - the price is excellent, but the performance not down with other budget tyres (as my direct comparison can show).

Dry grip is fine, but wet grip isn't great. The car's mapped but can wheelspin in 5th when it's wet. Road noise is high and comfort isn't great either. Wear rates are better than previous tyres I've tried (conti sport contact 2 10,000miles, goodyear F1 eagles 12,000miles and Falken 452's 12,000miles). Done 6,000 miles so far and hardly even begun to wear!
Goodyears were the best of the bunch for noise, comfort and grip. Maxxis are at the bottom for everything but wear rates.

On my third set on a souped up Alfa Romeo 159 on 19" rims. Tried q few others but keep coming back to these. For the price - stunning. Forget Bridgestones or Pireeli on the Alfa, these are the ones!

bought these tyres on recommendations I have read on the net (including this site) and I haven't been dissapointed. they replaced the OE conti 2's on my fabia 2 vRS (1.4 TSI). I have recently been on a long lakes meet with briskoda, and really pushed these tyres in wet ans dry conditions, along roads like hartside pass (lots of straights followed by hairpins ect).. in short they are a BARGIN for the price!
DRY: Incredible. don't think I have had as good a dry tyre as these. ultimate cornering grip is huge, and when you reach the limit they are very progressive, no snap away. my car is standard, and i managed to keep up with a sorted (200+bhp front rear anti-roll bars coilovers ect ect ) octy I vRS on these roads without issue! (although in the wet he was better!) also an exact same car as mine, but fitted with dunlop SP maxx tyres was mullered due to the extra grip provided by the maxxis victras, a passenger in both cars commented that mine was a "completeley different car" compaired to the vRS with the dunlops! the only difference was the tyres!
Dry traction was also very very good, being able to get on the power in the corners without getting messed up and activating the XDS also made it quicker! amazing.
WET: I thought given the dry performance wet would be shocking (yokohoma style) but it isnt. wet grip is as good as the conti's was. traction and cornering not nearly as good as the dry, but up to all the other tyres I have tried (conti's pirellis toyo's ect) they also hold the really cool progressive characteristic at the limit. there is no drama, just easily controlled.. there is cirtainly not the trade off I expected considering the dry grip! only time they struggle is in cutting deep water... simple solution, avoid the deep puddles!
wear: I can't comment I have done about 2000 miles in them now, they took about 500 miles to "bed in" and give up the grip.
comfort: a bit more niosy than the contis, if you do alot of motorway miles and have no tunes on, you probably won't want these. actual comfort? mine are 205/40's so really not designed to be soft with that profile!
buy again? definatly.
summary: with the OE contis on the back and these on the front, it has transformed the handling of the car, instead of 'designed' understeer, it is now much more 'pointy' and go-kart like, much more fun!
reccomended.

My only criticism is one of road noise of these tyres, Excellent value for money, very long lasting, and although I drive gently, I have not found them lacking in emergency braking situations or on faster roundabouts, wet or dry. My car wears the n/s front tyre more than the o/s but the n/s has done 20000 miles and is still a millimetre or so above the wear bar. My mechanic tells me that these tyres are on the hard side, but with a big heavy car I have found them to perform way above expectations. They replaced a pair of Dunlop SP Maxx which, although the factory fitment, did not last as long and were more than twice the price(and had a similar tread pattern)

In the dry, their grip is exeptional. I love rear wheel drive cars, have had 3 BMW's previously and enjoy getting their back ends out on corners when the mood takes me. This is very hard on the tyres and again these MAXXIS have impressed with wear rates. They are very progressive, no OMG! moments at all. In fact the grip is so good you have to push hard to get them to give up the grip!
In the wet, I would have to say, just as impressed. Of course you get less grip than dry but still loads there. I was surprised to read in another review here that they did not like these tyres for deep water. I totally disagree. I think they cut through puddled or surface water as well or probably better than any other tyre I have used.
In the snow, well this year has been super mild so only a few days in snowy conditions. But these tyres are all season and worked way better than a premium summer tyre. To the point I have decided to scrap my idea of getting a set of Winter rubber and instead purchest a set of snow chains for emergencys. A £40 option v's £1000!!!!
The rear tyres are now getting close to needing replaced and as expected, they are not performing as well as they did when new. I had no hesitation to look at putting these back on the car so was further delighted when I found a dealer locally selling these fitted, ballanced and with VAT for just over £90 a corner. Compared to premium tyres at around £200-£300 each!
If I had to make a negetive remark, it would be that they are a bit noisier than a Premium Summer tyre. But for all the positives, that is a very small price to pay.
In short, love these tyres, they preform well, look great, are afordable and the MAXXIS babes are gorgeous ;) Well done guys......
