I have been using these R1R's on my track car for over a year now, at cadwell Park and Blyton. One particular day at Blyton, th erain was so heavy that everyone else left the track, I was out there pushing faster and saster each lap. In the rain, these tyres are awesome on a light car. I am buying some for my Evo IX as I feel they offer the best of both worlds. The soft compound means they dont last a long time and on track, they can overheat in the dry after only 7-8 laps. In the wet they just get better and better. Ok, they'll never offer the same level of grip as the 888, but the 888 just won't give you any grip in the wet in standing water.
R1R's are a galaxy away from the old T1R's, which I dont rate at all.

Just done track day at cadwell,The grip was beyond my exspectations, they would not let go! even when we had a heavy shower and almost everyone who stayed out spun or had serious dramas the R1Rs remained planted, A braver or better driver could have pushed much harder.used T1Rs befor,no comparison.

Superb Tyre for extreme driving. But wears out quickly. after 7000km the front tyres are less then half tyre left. rear is ok.

Bought these for sprinting as you need something that warms up quickly. However I used them for a track day rather than shred my road tyres. After a bit of playing with pressures the initial impression was lots of grip in the dry, however they do react better with proper progressive loading up as they warm, if you push too hard too soon them get a bit squirmy, and at the other end more than about 15 miles of hard use and they get too hot and start to shred if you continue too push them. In the wet still loads of grip, probally due to the hot running nature of the tire, although progression goes down a step or two. Still lots of fun while they lasted, about 150 miles, still lots of tread in the middle, just scrubbed the shoulders off (Now I need an anticlockwise circuit to do the other side). I think for this sort of use R888s are better (apparently the same commpound as R1-Rs) as the carcuss and tread form better support the rubber.

Got them on my TVR, drove over to LeMans last year and went through some really heavy rain with out a problem, the guys behind said all they could see were 2 massive rooster tails and 2 fat dry lines on the road.
Given them some 'beanz' on the twisty stuff and they stick like poo to a blanket!
Never really reached the limits on them as the limit is soo far off that you'd have to be driving at crazy speeds on the public roads to find out where the limmits are?
A friend has them on his Tamora also and has done a couple of trackdays on them and said they were great but got a little over heated on long runs (20min+).
Seriously thinking of putting a set on my BMW 330d M-sport....

Dry grip from these tyres is amazing, best dry gripping tyre I've had yet. The car corners like it is on rails. I can definitely carry a lot more spped in to corners now with plenty of confidence. (Previously had Goodyear F1, F1 Aysemmetric, ContiSportContact 2, Vredestien Ultrac, Ultrac Sessanta, Toyo T1-S and T1-R).
The sidewalls are very stiff so you will loose some comfort, but not much and I probably notice it more in the Europa given its stiff suspension setup.
Not had them long enough to comment on them about ware but given the grip i'm getting from them I'm not too fussed.

Great all-round tyres, much better than the R888s in the wet. Only downfall is they can be overheated on long tracks on hot days, but they remained progressive and still great fun. Drove over 400 miles to the Nurburgring with them and the injection mouldings hadn't even worn off of them. Only thing that I wouldn't buy them for would be the getting too hot problem.
