Yokohama ADVAN Sport Reviews

Given 60% (breakdown) while driving a Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk 5 (remapped 270 BHP) (225-45-17-W)
Driving on a combination of roads for 15,000 spirited miles
Amazing tires for the first 7000 kilometers, then they will get simply annoying.. noise is almost intolerable for a tire that is designed for everyday use. Grip is alwasy great although theres tires out there that have better grip, but something that this tire excels on is feedback and quick reactions, im sure theres no tire out there that reacts and gives the feeling on what is happening on the road better than this one.

"I replaced them with Goodyear F1 Assymetric and the difference is like night and day."
My track experience is exactly the opposite : after many V103S, I wanted to test other tyres and bought F1AS : for the first time, I must leave the track after only 10min, I lost the grip completely when the tyres get hot.. I used to race 20-30min with V103s, must only take care of pressure.
I sold the F1AS 2 days later ;)

Given 14% (breakdown) while driving a Renault R26 (225-45-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 50,000 spirited miles
I own a R26 Megane Sport which has had in excess of 10 pairs of tyres on it within a 2 year period and have had every combination of tyres you could imagine. The ADVAN has proved to be the worst tyre I have ever had the pleasure of owning and the most expensive I have purchased. I have used AVS on previous cars and have been always impressed with the performance even if tread wear was slightly compromised. The ADVAN has proved to be a far worse companion for wear, aquaplaning, performance, dry/wet handling, than any of the major manufactures. I have also used a budget NEXUS N600 which have proved to be a more progressive performance tyre along with better wear rates for a third of the cost and probably 10% better performing for a 235/40-18 95Y rated tyre

Given 16% (breakdown) while driving a BMW E38 7 Series (255-45-18-W)
Driving on mostly town for 10,000 spirited miles
I bought these for my e38. They talk a big game on their marketing, but I must say, these are the worst tires I've ever driven. I've also driven different Yokohamas on my 5 series that I loved, but these were bad. They slip/spin from a stop if you give it too much gas, they reached the wear beads for me in less than 10K miles. At higher speeds around turns, I have zero confidence. I replaced them with Goodyear F1 Assymetric and the difference is like night and day. Plus, they cost way too much for their life span alone. Don't buy unless you like learning things on your own instead learning from others mistakes.

Tyre seemed to be good all round. It's on a 4x4 so not so easy to push to the limits. However, 80% of the driving has been done on motorway and after 8k miles they are worn out. Not good!

This tire was on sale. I should have gotten the Michelin PS-2 instead. Dammn! I noticed a reader here claiming his tire to have no noise. Have you checked your hearing lately or did your engine drown out the tire noise?

Driving on a combination of roads for 1,300 average miles
Got the Advan V103 on my Mercedes. Before was Michelin PS-2. Only reason I got the Yokohama V103 was because of the dealer pushing it and it's cheaper price as compared to PS-2. After 1300 miles of running in, I regret not paying a little more for a set of PS-2. It is noisier and give a hard ride no matter where you go. If you want to use your car for everyday driving to work as well, forget the Advan V103! I guess the only people who won't be complaining are those with cars fitted with loud exhaust pipes or sound systems fully turned up.

Driving on a combination of roads for 6,000 spirited miles
Best tire I have used to date. Better than the PS2 and Nero tires in all accepts. This tire loves to be pushed to limit and is very predicable when at the edge with very good feedback. The Advan sport grip is far superior to any high performance tire in fall and spring temperatures. Wet weather performance is extremely good and almost rivals the dry performance. The tire produces almost no road noise at all.
