Alfa Romeo 159 Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Pirelli PZero Rosso given 93% (225-50-17-W)

Outstanding XL tyre to replace OE Bridgestone Potenza XL which had excellent turn-in but disappeared in 9000 miles.P Zero Rosso much quieter and are lasting well on such a heavy car.So far only 1mm wear on inside of fronts after 3000 miles.Centre and outer tread still 7mm.I run them at 2.5 bar and switch front to back every 5000 miles.

Very good tyre. Excellent in the dry and exceptional grip in wet. Less performant with snow but still good. On ice it makes the job but does'nt excel. Good confort level. I recommend, expecially for countries with average winter conditions.

It seems people only wish to leave negative feedback on these so called 'budget' tyres but i felt it was time to address the balance. I drive an Alfa 159ti and was faced with a cost of £250 per tyre for the Pirellis / Conti's or take a chance on the Acceleras for less than £90 a tyre. I listened to positive feedback from other Alfa owners a took the plunge, i couldn't be happier as they've totally exceeded my admittedly low expectations. In the dry they are equally as good as the previous 'premium' tyres that come with the 159, the wet was where i was expecting problems having read some feedback from other manufactures car drivers like the 645 above and yet they've been absolutely faultless, in fact in the worst weather for decades just before Christmas they never let me down once in the snow even when climbing some nasty hills in North Yorkshire where i live. Maybe i've got a good set or maybe these tyres work well with FWD low profile wheels, i dont know but one things for sure i'll not be paying nearly 3 times as much for premium tyres that for this car anyway seem to offer little if any difference. I've tried pushing the tyres harder than id normally drive in the wet to see where the limit is but my nerve went before the tyres. Even some UK Alfa dealers are recommending these tyres as an alternative to customers - surely they'd not be allowed to do this if they were as dreadful as some might have you believe.

It's your choice but if you are driving an Alfa at i'd certainly recommend the Accelera's as for other makes i can't say but i see no reason why they would be any different at least on FWD models.

Did some research and compared these to the Bridgestone's I had on before. Bridgestone's were quite and grippy but £50 a tyre more expensive.
So I wanted the Sessantas but there are none suited to my Alfa. I was advised to give these a go. I cover a lot of miles and did 1000 in the first week on the new Centro's (design by the stylist for my car coincidentally).
The tyres took a while to bed in and as a result MPG suffered failing to get above 46MPG compared to the usual 50. Since then and in mixed conditions they have added an extra 4mpg (54mpg) compared to the Bridgestones.
The weather is getting worse and I read some other reviewers concerns about these tyres in snow and ice so will update when the weather reaches that stage.
Overall great tyres so far, would say slightly more road noise than Bridgestones but it's not too bad considering the cost saving

On my third set on a souped up Alfa Romeo 159 on 19" rims. Tried q few others but keep coming back to these. For the price - stunning. Forget Bridgestones or Pireeli on the Alfa, these are the ones!

GREAT TYRES FOR THE MONEY, USE THEM ON MY ALFA 159Ti - PRICE HAS GONE UP A BIT RECENTLY, USED TO BE ABLE TO GET THEM FOR £95 FITTED - NOW ABOUT £115 EACH FITTTED BUT STILL PROBABLY 2.5 TIMES CHEAPER THAN THE PIRELLIS OR CONTIS.

I read some mixed reports about these tyres which almost put me off my purchase. However, I have found them to be excellent, having had all four tyres replaced with them on my Alfa 159. Grip ride and feel of the car is better than ever so I would certainly recommend them to anyone and at about 60% of the price of the leading brands, they are the ideal choice.
