Ford c max Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Antares COMFORT A5 given 25% (205-55-16-)
Driving on mostly country roads for 89000 easy going miles
I had unfortunately inherited these death trap tyres (Antares 68) when I brought my car, Ford C Max. I have been driving for 26 years and I have never feared for my life until I drove on these.
You feel like the car is not connecting to the road and at any point you will loose control. Driving on the dry is pretty scary especially on corners but when it rains it’s a whole new story. At 35-40 miles per hour you are in constant fear of spinning out of control, it felt like an ice ring, very hard to keep under control and 0 grip in wet weather.
Do not be tempted by cheap price, you get what you pay for, invest in better well named tyres. I changed mine straight away.
In my opinion they should be removed and chucked in the skip never to be sold again. Avoid at all costs!

Driving on mostly motorways for 4000 spirited miles
I've bought Ventus Prime 4 after i used Hankook Kinergy 4S2 for 3 years. Ventus Prime 4 is a tyre with great handling. Behaves and grip excellent in all conditions and even at colder temperatures. Wear is ok after 6 months, not visible yet. Highly recommend these. They were pretty cheap also.

Writing about the Vredestein Ultrac given 92% (215-50-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 0 spirited miles
put these on a cmax on all 4 ! I had vreds ultrac satiln on and was a nice ride but you had to put the extra psi in as they always looked flat and wear was about avrage so once they ran out i thought i would try the new and improved ultrac and to be truthfull they are a massive impovement the walls are reinforced dont look flat grip very good in wet and dry steering feels light no fancy pattern on the side which is a shame (love the tyre gel) the only down side is you may get a holo sound when cold inside cabin just a slight one but flik the radio on and off you go!!!!! wear could not tell you as not been on long but i would thought 12000 +

Tyres provide confidence in all weather. On the few occasions we had snow, they were great! On wet, slushy ice they were not as impressive as on fresh snow, but so much better than summer tyres.

Writing about the Debica Presto UHP2 given 81% (215-50-17-)
Driving on mostly motorways for 3100 average miles
I bought for the first time budget and not premium tyres to see the difference. After 5000km I have to admit that the difference is almost not noticable in everyday easy driving. When you get sporty then you can spot some differences. Pros Extremely comfortable Quiet cruising Good grip on dry and wet Very good value for money Cons The steering is much lighter and you get the feeling that the car is going to slide. But this is only a feeling. It is not a UHP tyre. I cannot compare it with Michelin Pilot Sport for example or Continental SportContact. Still can not say anything about wear. Conclusion: A very adequate tyre for every day use in the city and in motorway but not for sporty driving. You get more than you pay for sure. If it lasts for 40000 Km it would be a must buy tyre for the average driver

Driving on a combination of roads for 12 average miles
I’m only commenting to say if you want a tyre to see out some miles don’t bother with these, currently fitted to my mrs 140hp mpv they are mot failures after 12,000 miles/2years fitted, even after being on the car 1year/7,000 miles they were a mot advisory. The cars not pushed hard and mainly driven by her, when I’m at the wheel alone yes I may get a stomp on but it dose not justify the crap millage, Other than that dry grip is good, wet is ok not the greatest.

Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 spirited miles
Tyre came fitted to my focus cmax from Arnold Clark on front axle, had slight steering wheel wobble but thought maybe needs balanced, bought another same tyre for drivers side what a mistake although grip was reasonable the steering wheel wobble/vibration got even worse, had both balanced again but never got rid of the vibration through the steering wheel wouldn’t buy again,i swapped over to the rear of car and hey! zero vibration through steering bought a different brand for front, sailun attrezzo what a difference zero vibration and better feel imho avoid these tyres cheap and nasty.

Bought these from national as they had 10% off making them cheaper than the radial champiro tyres fitted,on my focus cmax they are at least as good and wet give good grip better imho than the radial champiro fitted when I bought the car, would buy again and they were just over £70 each fitted and better value and grip than plenty of dearer tyres.

Writing about the Kenda KOMET PLUS KR23 given 32% (225-55-16-V)
Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 average miles
Fitted new in Sept 2019 to a 2009 ford cmax. Im now replacing them next week for a set of Michelin CrossClimate + 205/55R16 91H. Brought these Kenda as an all-weather tyre with apparent mud+snow rating. One line to sum these up: They are dangerous ditch finders. Going around roundabouts in the rain? = Expect to be going sideways with no grip to regain traction... hair-raising! Stopping normally from 40mph+? = Extend your stopping line by about 4/6 meters more to account for poor stopping ability. Good luck to those fitting these.. Shocking to say the least.
