Honda Civic FD2 Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Goodyear Excellence given 61% (215-45-17-)

Average economy tyre. Dry grip is good, but you will reach its limit when you push it hard enough. Wet grip is another story. While it is capable of driving normally in the rain, the tyre would easily aquaplaning if you hit heavy puddle of water. Road feedback is average as it is an economy tyre. Handling is slightly above average as in my experience it provides enough agility for slightly above normal driving. Wear is good as I have used this tyre for 4 years with over 45000 km with the tread is still not hitting the limit thickness yet. Just recently 1 sidewalls have torn and I decided to change all 4 sides. Comfort in the other hand is quite good. It provides light steering feel and sound level is good enough. In terms of value, I would say that this is among the best value for money for economy tyre. Goodyear has released new tyre model to replace this model which is assurance triplemax and assurance triplemax 2 for malaysian market.

Driving on mostly country roads for 24855 average miles
This is the worst tires I used so far, besides what provided by car manufacturer. Its loud and noisy, while cornering I can feel the tires pulling the steering inwards or pushing the car out depends on left or right turn. Maybe because of its asymmetric design and it make the car unpredictable especially when in wet road. It wears uneven even though rims, balancing, alignment and camber are in good condition. Sidewall are too soft and need to pump more air pressure to make it less wobbly. With treadwear rating 320 it only lasted a year, worst than my previous R1R with lower treadwear rating but still can get 3 years with it. My previous tires were Parada Spec 2, R1R, T1R, AD08R, and currently with RE004.

These came fitted on the FD2 when I bought it and were new tyres. Dry Grip - I've had not complaints and generally push the car hard on highways averaging 150-200 km/h. Overall good tyres in the dry. Wet Grip - Able to take corners on wet roads post heavy downfall around 80 km/h but I dare not go any faster. They're fine on straight roads going 100-120 km/h and wouldn't skid tho wet braking was not very good. I have another car fitted with the Goodyear ATM2 and they have better wet braking NVH - These aren't comfortable tires, rather hard compound but it gives you good road feedback and you can corner with confidence on these. That being said my car is low and generally cornering has never been an issue. I will not recommend these tires if you are looking for comfort or quiet. I will req these tires for anyone on a budget and isn't fussed with tires but just want something good and lasts long. These are definitely cheap and bang for a buck tires for people who just want a pair of tires to get them to point A to B.

Driving on a combination of roads for 400 spirited miles
Just installed to my car, then had a very great experience driving on rain/wet road as the tyres were very grip. I can drive 110-130km/h on wet surface. For dry road, for sure they are doing their magic excellently. The price is very affordable, RM210 per piece.

I just bought this PS4. I find very suitable for my driving style.
Very good wet and dry grip. Handling and road feedback is also very good. More noise than Primacy 3 but all the rest are better.

i've been using it on my civic fd for the past 2 years and it's holding up remarkably. i'm actually more satisfied w/ it as compared to the oem bridgestone turanzas the vehicle came with. so far it's been great for hot, humid countries like where i am. i've had no slippage trouble w/ them in tropical summers and in monsoon rainy weather. i'm looking to buy another neuton this time for our montero sport

been running A050s, AD08Rs, RSRR, RS3 and Ive got to say these tyres arent that far behind the mighty AO50s. Braking and initial turn is fantastic. Tremedous grip for Value, I doubt Ill buy any other tyre for my Trackdays

Been using this tyre for 10000k now. all i gotta say is this is the best tyre i have ever had. really recommend this for those who seek for good grips. wet grip is tolerable. been using michelin pilot sport 3 before, bs re003 are way much better than ps3.

I'm using this set of tires on Honda Civic for 14 months. Wet & Dry grip is quite impressive. but the noise provided by these tires is kind of loud.
worth the buy.
