Writing about the Goodride SP06 given 96% (205-55-16-V)
Driving on mostly country roads for 1000 easy going miles
idientical tire rebranded as Westlake sp06.
i went from Goodyear eagle F1's to these tyres. i cant fault them. im driving a 2.5l subaru legacy and towing a camping trailer round devon/cornwall 1000 miles covered. lots of steep hills in the dry and in the wet. I never doubted them once, they are silent on the road compared to the goodyears i could have a conversation with the wife and hear the radio. i had been spunking money up the wall with the goodyears thinking performance/safety came at a price, never again. I dont drive like a idiot so never took them to 'the limit' but for a everyday use on a heavy powerful car they are better than i would have ever expected.
They are cheap so if you dont like them stick them on ebay...

Driving on mostly motorways for 118000 average miles
I have been using Maxxis Tyres on my 7 year old Renault Espace for many years now and have not been disappointed. At less than half the price of the bigger brand names they perform just as well with the added bonus that they last far longer. So far 2 sets have covered more than 30000 miles on the front and one set covered 54000 miles on the back. I have tried Michellin and Pirelli but these do not wear anywhere near as well. I now have 8 tyres running on 2 cars (the other is an Audi A3 Quattro with a sportier tread) and I am delighted.

I will not change to another brand.

front tyres are looking good at 11000 miles and should be ok for the same again. grip seems fine but i am not a fast driver.

Writing about the Barum Brillantis 2 given 83% (175-70-14-T)
Driving on a combination of roads for 11000 spirited miles
I bought the car from new and found the manufacturers tyres a little noisy and the steering rather heavy. After twelve thousand miles, and due to the tracking being a mile out from new, I changed them for a set of brillantis which were recommended by the fitter, National. They were on offer at the time and have since performed as good as any I have previously used. I occasionally spin the fron wheels from starting when I'm too heavy on the accelerator but otherwise no complaints. Road holding and steering improved out of all recorgnition after the change and the ride became very much quieter. Handling in the wet and on the recent snow and occasional icy patches gave no cause for corncern at all.

Writing about the Kumho Ecsta KU31 given 79% (215-40-17-W)
Driving on mostly country roads for 17 spirited miles
In my eyes tyre choice is extremely important as they are the only thing that connects your vehicle to the road so should not be overlooked. I've been running Ecsta KU-31's for about 17,000 miles now and they are reaching the end of their life, so I think its fair to say given a spirited driving style mostly country roads & roundabouts they really are a long lasting tyre. Obviously this will fluctuating depending on the power of the vehicle fitted to.

These tyres operate well in the dry, with very good behaviour feedback in regular conditions inspiring confidence in the driver, however on the extreme limit they can catch you out through oversteer/understeer with little warning, but even still they will not just let go as some other cheaper tyres may. They always feel as if they want to hold on. Which is a reassuring feature.

They have a good level of comfort even though I have been using a low profile of 40. They are noticeably less competent in the wet/damp but not to the point of making the driver uneasy. I have used Eagle F1 gsd 2 & 3's in the past and I would not advise these as a direct comparison in performance as you WILL be dissapointed, but as a budget orientated "alternative" option that can be purchased up to nearly 50% les than some premium brands they are very desirable indeed! For sure they perform above their intended competitors bracket such as Falkens and other mid range tyres. In fact compared to my previous Continental Sport Contact 2's, these are much better in every area.

One small criticism is they have fairly poor wheel protection with regard to kerbing your alloys, but many tyres do not offer this. I would defnitely consider buying these again in the future, but I think I may change back to goodyear for that little extra performance even though a large price increase.

Overall Very good Performance vs Value tyre.

Driving on mostly town for 8000 spirited miles
very Good grip in dry and wet conditions, held the road like a vise, no grip in snow,Worn very very quickly, most tyres last me about a year, these lasted 6 months, I drive in the outside lanes a lot and because of the soft compound, I was for ever pulling nails and screws out. The brand new tyre had to be sent away for a special repair after a few day. I will not buy again.

Writing about the Yokohama Parada Spec 2 given 61% (205-45-17-W)
Driving on a combination of roads for 8500 average miles
When new to mid-wear these tyres are excellent on a small sports car such as mine. However, beyond mid-wear, they become significantly less impressive, and what is more, they do not last at all. I have owned my current vehicle since October of last year (it is now August 2010) and the tyres were new-on when I bought the car. During that time, I have covered 8500 miles, driving a mixture of motorway, country lanes and A-roads. I have not driven hard, and am a well-trained Class 2 driver. Personally on a lightweight car, I think this is appalling.

Standard fit is Goodyear NCT, but not really noticed the difference. Had no grip problems in the recent snow. Would probably buy again if wear rate is good.

Quieter on the motorway than the OEM Bridgestones and less prone to tramline over poor surfaces.
