Good tyre as usual Nexen and Kumho are great choices for tyres, my theory is buy a new tyre every 2max 3 years to be on safe properties otherwise risk not worthed in case of emergency.

I used this tire on my peugeot 308 in size 225/45/17. In the city where I live, I generally drive in snow and winter conditions above average. For this reason, I should mention that I use my vehicle in heavy winter traffic and in a city with a population of 6 million people. The rubber is quite good and satisfactory on snowy ground. It is also enough on dry ground. Comfort is at a very good level compared to winter tires.On icy ground and wet ground, the driving function can remain average. Considering these advantages, the price is quite cheap.I hope my comments will be useful in choosing tires.

These are the dog's ba**ock's, by far one of the better winter tyres out there, superb grip in all weather conditions, low noise and great road feedback. Over the years I've used several makes of winter tyres and I have to say the hankook W452 are one of the better ones. I can't comment on how they would perform if you were to continue driving during in the summer months as some people do, I always swap them for my summer set but in the cold winter months, I wouldn't be without them, plus the wife refuses to drive the car without them being fitted.

I got the tyres fitted to my car as soon as they arrived at my local tyre store as I was really fed up with the tyres the gallery had fitted onto my car. From the first drive out I must admit the first thing I noticed was the comfort. In comparison with Pirelli P7s I had on the car from the gallery, the difference was instantly noticeable. The car runs quieter on these and glides over the bumps far better. I am a very spirited driver and I enjoy taking the corners at the speed I'd like to go in the straights as well, with lots of lateral acceleration included for the tighter corners. The tyres also impressed on this front very quickly. In fact the very first time I had them on after rolling out of the store it was pouring with rain and the tyres obviously still had the polishing finish on them. Even at that worst case scenario they were as good as the Pirellis I had out.

At first:
In the dry: The tyres are very comfortable and particularly tough feeling (you know, a lower frequency hit rather than a louder - higher pitch shake) over the bumps. In the corners, the grip is there at any speed you want, both in the medium and high speed corners they are very good. I have the 45% ratio, 17" version of these and I can assure you even with the rather big side wall size that I have got, there is absolutely no tyre caused understeer in the dry. My car, being a French hatchback tuned at around 160hp / 350nm torque has a mid-strength oversteer tendency in off-camber corners as the car electronics try to stabilize the front grip, not sure how they managed that but anyway; in these situations, the tyres deliver excellent road feedback and you can easily locate where they are, where they are pointing, and the gradual loss of grip as you oversteer. So I would rate their road feedback as 10/10 - really - it is perfect.

In the wet: You don't really feel you are in the wet as much as you would with other tyres. GoodYear has always had wet grip as one of their strengths and it really shows in these. You can drive over even standing or flowing water without much extra caution in appropriate speeds, and in the corners the speeds in which you can take the corners is not effected much at all, over dry. No issues here really, however I must admit in the past 6-7 months or so that I had these I didn't get the chance to do much spirited driving in the wet as the traffic instantly worsens as soon as it rains.

After about 8k kilometers:
The tyres are down about 1.5mm to around 6-6.2, I know I drive on their limit quite often - and nearly every day at some favorite corners on my commute route - but this does not bode as well as I hoped for their life span. I don't think I can run these to 30k+ kilometers or 3+ years but we shall see. However, despite that I feel the sharp road feedback and perfect responsiveness are still there, I feel as if the tyres have started to take a bit longer to warm up. Lastly, the off-camber corner performance has improved somewhat.

Final verdict: I was on the fence between these and a set of Pilot Sport 4 tyres when I bought them, but I am glad I chose these as it has been a great experience. I have used the same car with the PS4 tyres and they feel more comfortable, yet not as sharp - so I think it is a further point for the Asymmetric 5 as I prefer sharpness. The tyres still feel as good as they did on the first day, however - as I said - I am becoming concerned about how much I push them looking at the quick wear.

Initially purchased for winter 2013 as winter tires are an essential for driving in the north of Scotland. I drive approximately 150 miles a day on a combination of A roads (single and dual) B roads and some city driving. I'm very impressed with the wear on them, after around 30,000 miles they are now just below 2mm and in need to changing.
As a winter tires you would expect them to perform well in all low temperature situations, anything below around 10C these are brilliant. They give good grip in normal wet and dry conditions and perform great in snow and slush.
Where they fall down is when then temperature rises, above 10C they start to lose a little grip, in my car this meant occasional wheel spin and some under steer, if move beyond 20C (quite rare in Scotland I know) they pretty much turn to jelly and become quite a handful. I accept these conditions are not what they are designed to do so I'm not marking them down for that.

Overall great tyres, perfect for a range of conditions and ideal for most weather experienced in the UK and come it at a sensible price (

A lot of reviewers are bashing these tyres for not performing on ice and snow while forgetting that it's a SUMMER TYRE. You're going to get a decrease in performance when temperatures drop. This review is for summer performance only.

I've been on a new set of 4 of these for 6 months now in a front heavy diesel that I like to throw about. Simply put I don't think you'll do too much better in terms of grip for my size of tyre on my type of car. I regularly drive quite fast on some tight twisty roads in my locality and these tyres hold on really well. The only problem is the lack of feedback afforded by the fat side walls (65) on the size of tyre I've got fitted. Under steer is more often indicated by the extra steering angle you will notice yourself having to apply rather than any sensation coming back through the wheel. Even past the limit they are quite predictable only requiring you to lift off or brake lightly to bring it back. I have never, not even once, felt that the rear was going to let go.

Diminished grip in the wet is hardly noticeable and I've ploughed through large bodies of standing water without aquaplaning. I haven't managed to get myself into trouble with this tyre in either the dry or the wet.

At the rate of wear I'm seeing I'd estimate (with proper tyre rotation) I'll get at least 20,000 miles out of this set which I think is great considering how hard I'm leaning on them.

They don't seem much quieter then the last tyres that were on the car but most road surfaces here, including motorways, are quite coarse so noise levels tend to depend more on the build of your car than your tyres. They don't drive me crazy with noise so I haven't been harsh with the score.

If I was buying the same size/class of tyres again I'd definitely consider these unless a better deal was available. I bought these tyres fitted and with the old ones recycled for 60 euros per wheel.

After buying these winter tyres last winter I finally got a chance to test in snowy conditions. The difference compared with summer tyres is night and day. I was able to navigate hilly uncleared back roads without any problems. These tyres also perform well in normal conditions and are refined. Well worth the purchase especially for high mileage motorists.

Put on front wheels last winter after dreadful experience with Michelin Energy Savers the previous year. They worked well in the snow and performed well in the wet and dry so kept on during summer. No fall off in mpg, good tyre, would buy again.

had these tyres on peugeout 308 sport when i bought it,they had just been fitted before i bought it,after 500 miles they got very very noisy and sounded like wheel bearings gone,after researching on here found a few others moaning about how noisy they are,just had them chamged to match the fronts which are nexen n8000 and the noise is completely gone.

Very good tyre on dry conditions especially.
Wet conditions this tyre can really be put to some limits but when u lose grip u will lose grip in sudden death...also for dry conditions but u have a little bit more time to respond.
Wear is increadible I worned 8 pairs on 160 000km with a very sportive attitude of course (this tyre can deal with a lot of pushing)
worst case is snow conditions I did not have grip at all very dangerous to drive this type on snow also depends on the car.
