Vauxhall Zafira 1.9 tdi Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Toyo Proxes CF1 given 100% (225-45-17-W)
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 easy going miles
Recommended to my Dad by our local tyre depot, but turns out they are very long lasting (10k miles + on the fronts in a heavy Diesel MPV that isn't driven overly hard). I have put Toyos on the back of my Vectra, miles better looking tread pattern compared to Avons on front (and I've discovered the perils on a previous car of budget tyres on the back in bends). Will be curious to see how long they last. And they're barely more expensive than the current fronts. Result

Driving on mostly motorways for 8000 spirited miles
I bought these tyres after thorough research bearing cost and performance in mind and I have not been disappointed in replacing my Bridgestone Potenza's with these Falken ZE912's. I had originally set out to buy Falken FK452's which I had previously put on the rear of my RX-8 with no complaints whatsoever. The FK452's where out of stock at the time so stuck to the same brand and I have had no regrets. Being the 150 BHP Zaf, I do like to push it a bit (which helps me reminisce in the old RX-8 days) and the tyres have never let me down. I don't find the noise too much - why would I? I drive a diesel! The ZE912's, or even the FK452's, in my opinion, are no brainers! Hope this helps!

These tyres recently fitted seem fine . can't understand the bad reviews

I had expensive Continentals on before. these seem just as good. Hope I'm not proved wrong in the future but at ?65 each -at present nothing whatso ever to complain of.

Writing about the Goodyear EfficientGrip given 92% (195-65-15-V)
Driving on mostly motorways for 100 average miles

I commute in excess of 30K miles per year, 85% on the M5. The rest being on A roads and country lanes.

Mostly it is myself, alternate weekend up to full load of kids/adults. On holiday fully loaded. Run tyres at 32-33 psi (35 is a touch too hard)

The first pair of Continentals Contract 2(?140) (origal fitting) covered 17,585 miles. This I thought was not that good.Tried Mitchelins next that managed 21k miles.

Fitted first pair of Efficient grips in Jan 2010. ?140 fully fitted from Kwik Fit. Extremly impressed by tyre wear, performance and generally handling. Fuel economy is between 10-11 Miles per litre.

Changed them 16/10/10 having done 24,200 miles. They had between 2 and 1.6mm left but were getting a bit twitchy on some road surfaces and wet performance was deterioating but still OK.

Manged to get the replacement pair for ?124 have checked on line price and then haggled with local independant dealer. New tyes have average tread depth of 8.5mm.

Must say highly impressed with them on the front. Will consider pair of Bridgestones to go on the back when the two non branded tyres need replacement.

Driving on mostly motorways for 3000 average miles
So far I have only driven on these for close to 3k miles. But am really impressed with these. The grip is excellent in both dry and wet conditions.

The car came with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A fitted. I was never really comfortable with these for grip and also found they tramlined (This is also greatly improved with the Vredesteins). Only a few more K-miles will see if they are good in terms of wear.

Driving on a combination of roads for 29 spirited miles
Changed to Michelan after only 16,000 miles due to fast wear from the original Continentals.
These tires now done 29,000 miles just about in need of replacement. Rear tires stll just OK at 45,000 miles.

Decent tyre wear at 5mm having been on the front for 8000miles shall now be rotating them to back and they should easily last another 10000. no real issues with these tyres at all.

Writing about the Continental Sport Contact 2 given 68% (195-65-15-V)
Driving on mostly motorways for 17 average miles

This is the original spec tyre for my car. Fitted front pair 06/08/09 and had to replace them on 30/01/10 after 17,585 miles. One was just on the lagal limit!! other had 2mm on it.

OK tyre but disapointing wear for a premium brand. Has a tendency to follow lines in the road. No problems with wet/dry/ice conditions.

Fuel economy was between 9-10 miles/litre. Mainly on motoway one up, some times fully loaded.

Driving on a combination of roads for 18000 average miles
Tyres are worn to wear bars after 18,000 miles, despite front-rear rotation to spread wear, and regular pressure checks/adjustment etc. Previous experience of Pirelli P6000s gave far higher mileage between tyre replacements.

Despite being a 7 seater our Zafira is mostly (95%) used as a four-seat estate car, so tyre wear rate is not down to regulary use with heavy loads etc

Very disappointed with tyre life, but as they were factory fitted form new I had no prior experience, and no choice.

Will consider replacement with Pirellis or another comparatively priced brand, but unlikely to repalacve with same Continental tyre.
