Volkswagen GTi Mk6 Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 given 100% (225-40-18-W)
Driving on mostly motorways for 1000 spirited miles
This is a huge improvement over my old Continental Sport contact 2. The dry grip is phenomenal and I came across heavy rain while driving on the motorway at high speed (160km/h+), but the feeling was the same as if the car was glued to the road. You may think this tire will impact the fuel consumption with its "sticking" feel, but I got an average of 0.5-0.7 lt/100KMs less at average speeds (90-130km/h). The tire also feels soft and very quite, yet it is very direct in the steering and extremely progressive. On spirited drive and high turns, I feel the suspension works more as the tire stays true to the road and after one year I finally stoped seeing the ESP light go on and I can use my Normal and Sport mode in my electronic suspension (DCC) without being afraid or feel discomfort. All 4 corners are glued to the road, period. Maybe an overkill for my GTi which has been transformed from a funny all around sporty car to a high performance vehicle ( I feel I need more power now to make it spin or twist. Lastly, this tire takes minutes to warm up in normal driving. As for wear and comfort I will write again at around 5,000miles (I know my views and comments are very biased in comparison to worn/ dryed Contis 2...)

Writing about the Bridgestone Adrenalin RE002 given 94% (225-45-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 spirited miles
Changed to RE002 after depleting my RE050 for just under 35,000km. Overall, it is much quieter and feels more grippy attacking corners. Impressive
dry grip and equally good wet grip. After the run in of about 500km, the tyre feels even more solid.

Writing about the Kleber Quadraxer given 90% (225-45-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 0 spirited miles
Golf GTI Mark VI, had these tyres on my car from late November 2010 until March 2011. It did take a short while to acclimatise to the different 'characteristics' of the winter tyres when first fitted.
Much better grip in snow, ice and slush than the factory fitted summer tyres. I purchased these tyres as premium brands(Michelin & other makes)were not available in my tyre size.
I contacted Michelin for advice re obtaining their premium brand winter tyres & the fitting of winter tyres to my car given that the factory fitted tyres were Michelin Primacy HP, they recomended the Quadraxer for winter use as the Primacy are in fact summer tyres.
I have been very very pleased with the Quadraxa performance and grip during the winter months, especially in snow and ice. Will change over to the Quadraxer tyres again late November for the winter.
Not sure re wear as too soon to tell, also not sure how many miles I covered during winter spell with the Quadraxers, I did make a number of journeys to the Scottish borders from Lancashire and did not get stuck!

Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 average miles
Bought a set of these to replace noisy Federal 595RS-Rs. which had lots of grip, but just didn't suit the GTI for daily driving. On past cars, I've had Michelin PP2, PS2,PS3, and these GY Eagle F1 AS2s are much better than any of those for 99% of daily driving needs and street performance. I'm surprised that they are this good in the wet as well as in the dry. I only notice a bit more noise in heavy cornering from the sidewalls rolling a bit on the tread. I can't say much for wear as I've only had these for 1,000km. Excellent tire for it's price and performance. Highly recommended for those who want the best versatile summer tire available.

Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 average miles
Had a set of Falken FK452 prior to chainging over to the Dunlops, have done around 2K on them and found them pretty bad on damp/wet roads, the electronic stability control (ESC) keeps lighting up when i was transversing the highlands road after it poured with rain.
Couldnt remeber the ESC lighting up that much when i was with my old set of wheels.
Be very cautious with this tyre in the wet

The GTI absolutely chewed these tryes out. They now have a sawtooth finish around the inside
