Volvo S80 D5 Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Goodyear Excellence given 96% (205-65-15-V)
Driving on a combination of roads for 154000 easy going miles
I have had 2 sets of Pirelli P6000`s on my car over the last three and a half years. I read reviews of the Goodyear Excellence and fitted a set of four about three months ago. They are superb!!!! I can corner 10 mph quicker in perfect safety. The grip is incredible in all wethers on all surfaces. I simply cannot believe how good they are. The Pirelli P6000`s are good tyres, so I was amazed by the performance of thes eExcellence tyres. I will definitely buy another set when the currnet ones need replacing.

Driving on a combination of roads for 1500 spirited miles
I have driven and ralllied for 50 years, these tyres are the very best. We have 50cm snow and my Volvo S 80 drives in it although it was not there.

Writing about the Avon ZZ3 given 53% (225-50-17-W)
Driving on a combination of roads for 8000 average miles
One of the tyres started going soft quickly and when removed I could see they were also slightly mis-shapen. Glad that they are off now and I would not buy again. Probably not a good tyre for a heavy car such as mine.

Writing about the Pirelli P6000 given 36% (225-50-17-W)
Driving on mostly town for 50 average miles
Dry driving is ok however in the wet i get no secure feeling and they tend to drift when pushed, road noise i find poor these give quite a rumble, the biggest dissapointment is the life of the tyre i am not heavy right footed and drive for fuel saving ( around town i never get less than 37mpg ) but because Volvo recommend P6000s ive stuck with them, im having Vredestein Ultrac fitted today as this will be the fourth set of tyres in 50k and P6000s are expensive and not impressive, i have high hopes for the Vredestein as ive used these before and found them superb. I will let you know the outcome
