The Michelin Pilot Super Sport has arrived

The Michelin Pilot Super Sport has arrived, and if the Michelin press release is to be believed it's everything we hoped for and more.

Developed using "Le Mans" technology, the Pilot Super Sport features dual compound tread, a Twaron belt for extra stability and "Variable Contact Patch 2.0". Looking past the buzz terms, this means one thing - performance.

Michelin claim that compared to the already excellent Pilot Sport PS2, the Pilot Super Sport offers 50% more tread life on track, 1.5 seconds per 2,700 metre dry lap, 2.5 seconds per 4,100 metre wet lap, 1.5 metres shorter stopping from 62mph in the dry and 3 metres shorter stopping distance from 50mph to 6mph in the wet.

Can the Super Sport deliver?

Michelin Pilot Super Sport Infographic Sounds too good to be true? Time will tell. Early reports from the press launch are indicating there's a noticeable difference between the Pilot Super Sports and the competitors tyres, but here at TyreReviews we'll wait until we have first hand experience with them before claiming them to be the new "ultimate max performance tyre".
