195/65 15 Tyre Review Highlights

Avon ZT7 rated 67% while driving a Renault
Driving on a combination of roads for 18 average miles
We fit these to a small fleet of 3 vans covering around 30k miles a year. They are an excellent economy tyre, and seem to last fairly well at the hands of delivery drivers who could usually care less about the wear and tear on the vehicles.

I take one of these vans home, and commute 90 miles a day on them. They are impressively quiet for a budget tyre, very comfortable on the road thanks to the squidgy sidewalls. There are a couple of sharp slip roads I have to take on my drive, and I have taken them at normal motorway speeds (70mph) and they hold impressively well in the dry and damp... In the wet however I've noticed they aquaplane very easily, and don't give much confidence on fast, sharp bends.

Steering is kind of vague feeling, the soft sidewalls make them a little rolly poly, and they don't offer much feedback. It's a little hard to tell what the tyre is doing, and how it's holding the road, but the grip is confidence inspiring, and maintain their characteristics right down to the wear bands.

For a normal, daily driver tyre they are fantastic. Affordable, surprisingly grippy, comfortable and quiet and above average wear compared to other brands.

I wouldn't go for a spirited drive around twisty back lanes on them, but for a commuter / normal driving around town tyre, they tick all the boxes. We've been through a few sets on our fleet now, and can't see myself choosing anything else.

Michelin CrossClimate 2 rated 84% while driving a Volvo 850GLT Estate
Driving on mostly country roads for 3000 average miles
I have found the tires to be unstable but managable during initial braking, this could be due to the car but i doubt it. Have driven 200 km/h on them no problem.
Snow and ice grip is exellent. No problems going through 15cm snow FWD and high speed snow driving.

Taurus Winter 601 rated 67% while driving a BMW 323i 1997
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 average miles
This tyres came with car as winter setup (seller was mehanic and he just replaced it so DOT was fresh when car was bought). I was very sceptical but on wet you can't go sideways with this tyre, that's how much grip it has. :) Dry grip is ok but you don't have any feeling on steering wheel with them, also you can drive with confidence, especially RWD cars. Also never had problem with grip in snow (bare in mind that it's on RWD car). Negative side is noise, the faster you drive the noiser they get, so I wouldn't recommend them if you are mainly on motorways. Also, the wear is very high, so after two seasons they have about 5 mm tread depth (less than 10 000 km). If you mainly drive in city and country roads this is ideal. For the price, and everything else considering, I would recommend them, just depends what are you expecting from them (they are not premium and they are not perfect...).

Stay away....Bad in dry roads, and very dangerous in the wet.

Driving on a combination of roads for 30000 easy going miles
Excellent tyres I've done almost 30,000 miles on a set just ordered another pair for front of my 2017 Prius. Improve fuel economy to average around 75 mpg. Simply the best on a hybrid such as mine weather they will be as good on a different car is another story

Vredestein Ultrac rated 84% while driving a Porsche
Driving on mostly motorways for 5 average miles
1973 Porsche 911T

Bought these for the above car despite the very mixed reviews.
Would I recommend them. Yes, for both long and short trips, track use and in the wet.

London to Le Mans and back and five flat out dry laps behind the pace car on the whole circuit.
Road driving, no issues at any speed to report of.
Track (tyre pressures adjusted) I'd like a bit more feedback and bite out of the corners BUT I did not expect them to have this. For comparison I have PZero Ns on a Boxster for the same drive and track use the previous year and the feedback was superb. These are relatively inexpensive tyres and my expectations were set accordingly. I did though find them satisfyingly predictable as to where the limits were and not difficult to control.

London to Spa and back.. Again no issues on the way through France, but then their roads are like glass. You feel it when you get into Belgium, but that's the car and the suspension set up on their lumpy roads and not the tyres.
If you're going to Spa at some point it will absolutely lash it down with rain. These tyres are pretty outstanding in it (and this was one of the reasons reading other reviews for the initial purchase).
Track, five laps of Spa. Tyre pressures adjusted again predictable solid performance, including in the 100-120mph range. Same comments as above on feedback and bite and them being inexpensive tyres.

I know some will say, it's an old car etc ... didn't seem to have any issues passing a 996, Boxster or Mustang at Spa, just takes longer to catch them and then pass them in the corners.

Would I buy again, yes. Just found a nail in one of the tyres. Will plug it for now and swap it with a new one when it arrives

Antares GRIP 20 rated 79% while driving a Kia Motors Cerato Forte
Driving on mostly town for 26000 easy going miles
I have driving on those tyres for 7 years now (only at winter time). Covered 42000km on one set. Still got about 6mm tread left. Changed to anteres grip wp (2023 model) for experiment. Handles well on all surfaces. Better performance on snow. Average on ice. One of the best budget tyres. Really calm driving.
Different situation on seat ibiza fwd 1.9tdi vs 236hp car. Handles well, but spins a lot. Covered about 25000km in two winters (worn out to 4mm). Worns out very quickly if driving at summer time.

Dunlop Sport BluResponse rated 86% while driving a Skoda
Driving on mostly country roads for 11500 average miles
They offer an excellent grip even in the wet and amazing braking performance, especially in the dry. They have very strong anti-aquaplaning characteristics, as I did not notice aquaplaning even at about 90km/h. The wear is also pretty good, but the harder compound gives you slightly less feedback in my opinion. I did notice that my car shifted from being oversteer-prone to understeer-prone on these tires, can't say if that's better or worse. And they are, in my opinion, quite prone to damage. I never had to have tires repaired as much as I have with these tires, but maybe that was just bad luck. Nonetheless, these are amazing tires and I would buy them again if they still made them.

Driving on mostly town for 8000 spirited miles
Driving on this Barum Quartaris tyres set for 2 years, mostly city on Mazda 3 Sport BL 1.6 MZR (2010).Summer- kind of OK grip, lateral grip in the corners in sport driving is not the best, lateral grip is 60% .The worst behaviour is on just wet road and sandy road - braking is loooooong!Compared with my previous Toyo Proxes tyres these tyres are weeker in grip and braking.Positive is the low noise and comfort.Wear is good - so far I donot see significant wear after 12000 km.It's not snowing anymore can't give a score on ice and snow.

Bridgestone Turanza T005 rated 69% while driving a Volkswagen Golf 7 TDI
Driving on a combination of roads for 25000 spirited miles
3 years into the tyres, i can say great grip in the wet and dry all from 5C to 40C degree weather.
When driving agressively, the sidewall flex is quite big, so you feel you're losing grip while youre actually just flexing the tyre sideways. Besides that great handling tyres, have nothing against them, will most likely buy again. on about 4-5mm of tread after about 25k miles, which is pretty good for my driving style.

Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 rated 63% while driving a Volkswagen Golf 7 TDI
Driving on a combination of roads for 25000 spirited miles
Great tyres, amazing grip in the wet and great grip in the dry. Very good in the snow until you get to about 5mm, then it's not good enough for the snow conditions where i live (good enough for most situations, wont get traction on steep hills anymore). After 3 years of driving (1 aggressive, 2 moderate years, 25k ish miles) the tyres have 4.2-4.8mm left. Am probably going to fit them this season and use them until the end of summer, havent decided on it yet tho.
