225/60 16 Tyre Review Highlights

Accelera Eco Plush rated 39% while driving a Jaguar XJ8
Driving on a combination of roads for 8500 easy going miles
Although I showed 1 for tyre wear, there is in fact plenty of tread left (5/6mm) after 4.5 years usage and 8,500 miles. My biggest gripe is that the tyre walls have started to crack to the extent that it was picked up when I had an MOT on 31st October by the MOT inspector. I certainly didn't expect this after 4 years. When contacting the manufacturer one of his comments was, " ....It is recommended to change tyres after 2 years to ensure safety."
That is ridiculous!

Goodyear UltraGrip Ice 2 rated 89% while driving a Citroën C5 Tourer
Driving on mostly country roads for 13000 average miles
I've driven about 20000km / 13000miles during last 6 months here in central finland with these tyres, and have nothing to complain about them. Wet ice is of course the worst condition to them, but yet totally manageable. On snow surfaces they have very good grip, and on tarmac, wet or dry, the best studless nordic winter tyres I've ever driven. Comfort level is about at same level as Michelin X-Ice Snow or other top level studless tyres. Tyre wear seems to be ok, they will last easily second winter (+20000km) or more. No surprices in any conditions, very good tyre for nordic winter.

Zeta Alventi rated 65% while driving a Holden Commodore VE
Driving on mostly town for 4000 average miles
These were new replacement tyres on a vehicle I bought- all in all for a budget tyre they are ok- handling in wet and dry seems sufficient Don't know about longevity yet They are a harder compound so not the softest ride , but not awful Worth a try if you don't want to break the bank

Nankang RX615 rated 49% while driving a Ford Mustang gt
Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 spirited miles
These tyres came on my Mustang GT. On the dry they are fine. On the wet simply dangerous. I don't know what the previous owner was thinking but I guess he drove slow. On a tight 270° turn I was shocked how easily the car would skid. Also acceleration was like on being on ice/snow. Worthless. Maybe a good tyre for drifters. The only positive side that they last quite well. The production date shows its from 2011 and it shows hardly any wear. This will be the final month.

Michelin Primacy 4 Plus rated 96% while driving a MINI Mini Countryman Cooper Petrol
Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 spirited miles
Trust me, these michelin primacy 4+ tyres: 205/60 r16 96H XL on the front of my Mini countryman 1.6 are the better tyre than the bridgestone XL on the rear . these Michelins are improved version of the Primacy 4, more comfort, more feedback and super grip. Always had Michelins on the front wheel drive Mini, worth the little extra cost. Had michelin primacy 4 tyres: 205/60 r16 96h xl previously. Those lasted 6 years, a great tyre used right down to 1.6 mm with over 50000 miles clocked up with various short and long journey shared with my teenage son. Change can be good and Michelin had done an excellent job with the improvements on the 4 Plus. It's also super quiet, the best and safest Tyre around, really.

Kleber Krisalp HP3 rated 91% while driving a Citroën C5 Tourer
Driving on a combination of roads for 37000 average miles
Best tires I've ever owned, for the money. Smooth like butter and quiet for a winter tire on potholes, road cracks or rough roads. Not quiet for a winter tire but really quiet. Grip is superb, both wet and dry. Feedback is numbed by the smoothness of the tire. Handling is very good.

Michelin Primacy 3 rated 86% while driving a Citroën C5 Tourer
Driving on a combination of roads for 37000 average miles
Excellent allround tire city, country or highway. Smooth traveling no matter what the roads are like, but when it comes to turning or wet roads you can feel the tires struggling a bit. Fuel consumption is decent at avg. 7L/100km. The wear is great, in my opinion, 60 000km with a set. The only set back is the price. cca 800E for 4 tires seems too much for my blood.

Falken ZIEX ZE310 EcoRun rated 85% while driving a Citroën C5 Tourer
Driving on a combination of roads for 3000 average miles
Bought them because they were the most cost effective choice on paper. Driven for almost 5000km/3000miles and now i can say the following. Comfort: Comparing with the Michelin Primacy 3 and Kleber Krisalp HP3 winter tires they seem a bit on the rough side. You can definitely feel every pothole and crack on the road. It feels like seating on a park bench with plastic wheels at times, but they seem quiet. More than the Michelin or the Kleber ones. Highway travel is peace and quiet, city and county rough but quiet. Handling and breaking: Wet and dry very good. Firm lane changes, cornering like on rails and breaking is very positive as described in every test that i could find. All in all better than the mentioned ones on dry roads, but on wet roads close to the Kleber ones when new. Fuel consumption: Awful. From an average of 7 L/100km on winter tires to 10 L/100km is a big jump that was not expected. I had the car inspected by my mechanic and did a wheel alignment, but the high fuel consumption is persistent.

Austone SP 901 rated 44% while driving a Toyota RAV4
Driving on a combination of roads for 19000 easy going miles
Tires feel fine on dry roads but on wet roads they fall off. Snow grip is good, ice grip is non-existent. Tires wear pretty evenly and probably have another 20-25 thousand miles on the road. Tires are noisy, especially in the wet. Bumpy roads are a nightmare. Would not recommend as you can get something much better for a few more bucks.

Pirelli Cinturato Winter 2 rated 74% while driving a Volvo V40 Cross Country 120
Driving on a combination of roads for 4000 average miles
Brand new, to replace my old Pirelli Sottozero 3, come at the end of their Life. Dry: These Cinturato Winter 2 are proposed as touring tyres, and so they do: compared to the more sporty precursors, the road feedback appears rougher and less direct. Likewise, handling in the dry is poorer, less precise, however decent for a touring tyre. Breaking in the dry appears on the other hand fairly good, with more than reasonable stopping distances. Wet: drivability in the wet is not too bad. Wet handling is decent, breaking is good as well as aquaplaning resistance, both in the straight line and in the corner. Snow: Compared to the Sottozero 3, the performance of these Cinturato Winter 2 on snow is improved: either traction, handling and braking are significantly ameliorated, providing in challenging conditions of snow, snow/mud or snow/rain a greater sense of safety. Ice: Although not nordic or studded tires, these Cinturato Winter 2 do fairly good with the ice, letting you get off on it, as long as you drive with due prudence. Internal noise: These tires make themselves felt, as expected, especially during high-speed driving. Fuel consumption and wear: in the middle for a quality winter tyre. Price: high-priced but less expensive compared to many competing models of other premium brands.
