215/55 17 Tyre Review Highlights

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 rated 84% while driving a Suzuki SX4 Scross 1.4T Boosterjet
Driving on a combination of roads for 8000 average miles
Bought the MPS4 to replace the ContiEcoContact that came as OEM, so most the comparison will be done against them, although it's not the same category really... The Michelins will probably wear faster (although I replaced my previous set of tires because of both being used for 40.000 kilometers, and as they started to feel worse in handling - even though they weren't worn out that much), but everything else is much better (aside from stiffness, which seems to be about the same, at least subjectively).

All in all, the MPS4 are great both on dry and wet, they handle very precisely (especially the corners!), and the braking distances are obviously better that with the Conti's Eco tires - literally, like driving a different car. On the weaker side, when hitting bumps (even the smaller road imperfections), they are a bit hard, both in the feel in the car, and on the ear. Also, not very silent on highways, but it's not a big deal.

All in all, a very good tire, that I would recommend, even if it does have a few flaws.

Dunlop SP Sport LM 705 rated 89% while driving a Toyota Camry
Driving on a combination of roads for 6200 average miles
This my initial review
Dunlop LM705 ;
Have them six months done
(6,200k)miles .
These are touring tires not HP/UHP.
Dry/Wet : Very good.
Comfort: Very good & silent.
Fuel economy: Very good.
Handle bad roads and potholes.
I'll give more feedback as miles pileup.
Until now pleased with them

Kumho Solus 4S HA32 rated 35% while driving a Kia Motors KIA Seltos LX AWD
Driving on a combination of roads for 6 spirited miles
These came standard on my 2022 Kia Setlos LX AWD. Hate them. They're noisier on dry pavement than my winter tires. Have driven them in a wide variety of road conditions and they were downright scary for hydroplaning in moderate rain/crosswind situation. Poor traction in small amounts of ice/snow. After 2 years and approximately 10,000 km of spring/summer/fall driving on them, I'm ditching them for an all-season Continental True Contact Touring. I always switch to true winter tires for that season. Wouldn't trust these in the variety of winter road conditions we experience in Saskatchewan.

Bridgestone Blizzak LM001 rated 75% while driving a Volkswagen Passat B8 1.8 TSI RLine 180PS
Driving on a combination of roads for 11000 average miles
Bought a second-hand set of wheels with 17" alloy rims and new LM001 Blizzaks, Audi homologated AO variety, to use in the winter with my 2018 Passat. They have proved once and again very reliable on the snow, while handling daily wet and dry conmuting or high-speed trips to mountains on the other side of the country without wearing out too fast or making me go too much slower than with the summer tyres (which are 235/45-18). Comfort and noise are also satisfactory. Dry traction and lateral grip are the weakest points, but they brake pretty well both dry and wet so safety is reasonably spared.
In the beginning I thought they would be just fair performers as it is an old model, but after using them for three winters I am certanly satisfied and replacing for the same model will not be out of the choice.
After 17500Km rotating them on both axles, they still are all four over 5mm tread depth so wear is acceptable to me. Not the best, though.

Pirelli P 7 rated 54% while driving a Suzuki Vitara 2015>
Driving on mostly town for 600 easy going miles
Had four new P7 Pirelli tyres fitted in December 2023 to my Vitara as first replacements since new. I chose them on brand name and that they were in the premium range at my tyre fitting dealer.
The tyres look the business and seem ok but the biggest gripe has been the road noise inside.
I know our roads are poor but even on new tarmac the noise is greater than the worn original Continentals that were fitted from new.
I feel very disappointed from such a famous brand.
As I do low mileage per year I shall have to grin and bear it for the time being until I can bear it no longer and bite the bullet and change them well before their normal life.

Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons Gen 2 rated 48% while driving a Volkswagen Passat estate 2.0 TDI 110 kW
Driving on a combination of roads for 9000 average miles
This generation 2 vector 4 seasons tyre seems to be compromised in too many areas.
Wet traction is especially poor leaving the car scrambling for grip under acceleration in wet conditions.
Comfort is poor with harsh ride and noise. Doesn’t help that they collect numerous small stones in the tread blocks.
Snow traction is adequate in fresh snow.
Traction on compacted snow is less than ideal but better than a summer tyre.
Wear rate is low. I can’t wait to wear them out so that I can justify replacing them.

Goodyear UltraGrip Ice 2 rated 84% while driving a Ford
Driving on a combination of roads for 300 average miles
For a front wheel drive car the tyres are very grippy and gives a safe feel to drive. they can be a bit slippery on steep up hills and when there is loose snow or Ice. But once the TC is off they do grip quite well and pull the car along very well.

I would recommend buying these tyres and i have had similar ones on a old 318i and they were perfect as well.

Yokohama BluEarth RV02 rated 76% while driving a Nissan
Driving on a combination of roads for 40000 average miles
Have a 2016 Nissan Qashqai shod with them. Stark contrast to the Goodyear's I had on a Toyota Rush which was pretty lethal in the rain and one had to keep ones wits about them when driving fast in the dry. That said, the Yokohama's do appear to wear easily in comparison which I would attribute to a softer compound.

I will however be considering the Yokohama's again when they need replacing which will be in the new year. I may consider another make if they have similar stats but a longer life, otherwise happy with the tyres overall performance.
