Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar 3R rated 98% while driving a Porsche Cayman

2015 Porsche Cayman GTS. Manual Transmission x73 suspension. 245 40 18 front 265 40 18 rear. Having been a Porsche racer and DE driver/instructor for 30 years now, I can assess tires with an eye to what works. My stock tires were Pirelli P Zero Porsche NO tires that I drove on the track. Not so great. Went to NT01s. Ok, but not so good. Gave the 01s away and put on the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R. Wow! Started concerned because the newest 3Rs that I could get from TireRack were made July 2020 and October 2019. In terms of age, they were almost done. Had them heat cycled and gave it a go. These tires never stepped wrong, stepped out or gave me any issues that were of concern. I have raced on Hoosier slicks, R6's, R7's Goodyear bias, Toyo RA1s BFG R1s over the years as well as instructed in all sorts of cars with all sort of tires. So far, nothing beats these tires on the track. Driving conservatively at Buttonwillow and I was turning 2:12s. No where near the limits of the car or myself. Love the car too much to push it to it's limits, but the tires did great. After 10 heat cycles, they showed little wear. Keep in mind that these tires are almost past their age limits. Now, I need to find a set that are freshly made and not 3 years old. Goodyear needs to make more sizes than they have now. It would be nice to get some 20" tires that are closer to the stock size needed. My car is a manual and I would use the power to rotate the car on tight corners. Stuck like glue. In the twisties, was able to take tighter lines than I would typically take. I had not anticipated driving my car home on the road. Lent my trailer to a friend so that he could get his broken car home. 210 miles on 2 lane and 4 lanes of Hwy101 to get home. They were quiet and ran great. It is essential to watch the air pressure. Start with 28 in the morning and bleed them down to 34/35. take it slowly for the first 2 laps of consecutive sessions until the pressures come up. Bleed them down if over 35 at the end of the session. Add air before you leave the track, whether it is to go to a hotel or home. Start the process all over the next day.

car hugs the road under moderate to aggressive driving now with these tires. smooth very smooth but a little noisy but manageable. I highly recommend these tires especially if your driving a Elantra sport with the hankooks. night and day diff. agressive tread major grip and affordable..... what's not to love?

pros: -price is very low for a more all season performance tire. -firm steering feel. -great straight line grip. - good wear characteristics. - fair noise levels. - does not make a lot of noise when pushed to its limits or when slipping. note awd vehicle. cons: - likes to understeer when pushed. - low cold weather grip. - very low snow and ice grip. - very firm ride does not absorb bumps well. solid performer for the price. tire are not very good at the limit. s60r have a lot of understeer naturally. these tires tire do not grip very well for a vehicle that likes to understeer. ride is firm and sporty. noise is acceptable.

I've purchased 3 complete sets of these for 3 very different cars: Subaru Legacy 3.6, Infiniti Q50, & Lexus SC430. Combining the overall experience, I'm very pleased with these tires. Cost is very good yet the tire competes with much more expensive products. Road noise is low. Grip (Infiniti) was great in snow. Rain (Subaru) was equally good. Mountain roads (Lexus) were surprisingly good, especially considering the weight of the SC430. I'm almost in need of tires for my 335i & am seriously considering putting these on instead of the more expensive performance tires that are on it now. I recommend these tires. A daily commute car or weekend leisure vehicle will do well.

Do yourself a favor, buy a tire pressure gauge with a tread depth meter combined. Also buying these means you'll watch most other drivers struggle. 40k miles or 65 Km 245/40 97Y 18in Square on a staggered wheel setup. My rear wheels do accept 245/40 (8.5 to 9in width) but stock rears are 265/35 18 fyi. Initial impression was a lot better than the Continental ContiProContact MO stock tires. I've used the ContiProContacts on a FWD Passat and they were great, but wide sizes, they just float and wiggle in the rain. The difference is night and day on a RWD car. I think the Passat had 225 or skinnier. The stock Conti only win in wear, noise and comfort. The Nokian WRG4, I specifically bought for wintery mix driving. I drive ride share and I do roughly 250 to 500 miles per day, 7 days a week and I don't drive slow. These tires are TEMP sensitive and TIRE Pressure sensitive. Dry Temps: under 90° f you're fine as long as you're not speeding over 80mph otherwise jelly effect until you get down to around 6mm wear depth. Temps under 45° f these tires are amazing. Anything above 95° f they turn to jelly if you're doing over 70mph. Otherwise they're normal. Omg and they save you gas. Wet Temps: Warm wet temps you can feel the tread blocks moving. The car isn't, is not hydroplaning or anything, but it's just an unnerving feeling. At the same time I've gotten used to it and I can feel what the car is doing. I'm assuming FWD would be more stable at higher speeds. This might just be my car suspension setup but I could take a 30mph tight U shape ramp at 50mph with no tire screeching and only minimal understeer while in SPORT. Only car that's kept up was a C7 Vette and a Porsche Cayman. Tire pressure, since I drive so much, I keep track of tire pressure everyday. Also I didn't rotate these tires. The front were amazing and literally only have a variance between 7mm outside, 6mm middle and inner on the front. Very normal wear and could easily go another 40k or more. The rears were the issue. I'd say more on Mercedes alignment, the inner wore bad, meaning more toe in angle. I'm going to replace the rear suspension soon to see if that fixes that but I read a WRG3 review with the same problem but on a FWD car. My DWS06 265/35 18 rears (20k miles 4.5mm inner, 5mm middle and outside), it's wearing evenly. I think I'm going to buy a set of DWS06 Plus for the front and keep these other tires as spares. Once the rears wear down to 2mm I'll swap them for 245/40 18. Durability: they did well until I hit a skinny deep pot hole. Both passenger sides needed to be replaced (after 40k and a full winter) Noise/Comfort: they have a howl similar to going through a tunnel. They were comfortable, like a touring tire. Great alternative to snow tires. You can run them all year round. My biggest complaint is warm wet weather driving. You really can't go over 60mph in heavy rain while they're new. Once they wore down to 5mm warm wet weather was less of an issue. I drove someone 2hrs towards the Eastern Shore in a torrential downpour with heavy cross winds and it did very well in 55° f. I'd still carry a small shovel in the winter if your car is low.

This is only an initial observation !!!! i am comparing the pilot sport as 4 to my old tires, pilot sport as 3 worn down almost to the tread indicator. so having driven only 10 miles on the highway on the new tires: they definitely have great feedback and feel planted to the road. However, they feel jittery and transmit road imperfections noise-wise. on a flat, "no imperfections" road surfaces they feel smooth as ice skating. unfortunately, very few roads have no imperfections. i am an easy going driver so i probably will not approach the performance envelope of these tires, except for avoiding dangerous situations....which is where braking and steering matter, hence for safety.

Dry grip is exceptional for an all season tire, while wet grip still exceeds my expectations. Hydroplaning has been virtually nonexistent since this tire has been fitted. Even more surprising are the wear characteristics. I've done a few days of light tracking on these tires and it still looks as if I could get another 20,000 miles out of them. While I have not yet experienced their capabilities in the winter, given their superior performance across the board when compared against the tires I had previously, I maintain a high level of confidence.

This tyre copes with everything I have thrown at it, including deep mud, and wet grass! I live in a rural area, and in the winter the roads get very slippery, the cross climate 2 copes exceptionally well in these conditions. In the dry, they perform very well for a tyre in this class. Will definitely buy again.

put these on my 2015 civic si awhile back due to the cost and them being recommended by a friend. aside from cost and i cant think of a single positive thing to say about them. worse very fast, could not hook in 1-2nd gear even in lower boost and sometimes 3rd in higher boost, were noisy as all hell, and were terrifying to use in the wet. definitely will not purchase again.

These tires perform great during spring-summer-fall weather. I daily drive on these tires through all New York terrain. Not great in snow. Quiet on all speeds. They withstood all potholes and bumps. No sidewall bubbles, cupping, or unusual wear and tear. They amaze me during my backroad carvings. Gripped phenomenally. I still have 6/32 of depth.

These things lasted quite a while, dry grip and handling was pretty good but wouldn't necessarily trust them as a reliable A/S tire in inclement weather. Had a sketchy moment in a patch of ice towards the end of its life when there wasn't much tread, so not necessarily the tires' fault. Overall pretty decent option if you're on a budget, especially if you're not too concerned about performance. Road noise is very minimal, and they're pretty comfortable too.
