235/35 19 Tyre Review Highlights

Michelin Pilot Sport 5 rated 79% while driving a Ford Focus ST250
Driving on a combination of roads for 4500 spirited miles
Fitted my first full set 10/22 on a Focus ST3 running 280bhp on a stage 1 map).
Great type but they lasted 7500miles (my commute is 5miles each way) plus general driving. Great tyre but god they wear fast, even the backs only lasted 12months, not usual 24months.
Fitted second full set 10/23 to same car... I've now done 4500miles and they have 4.4mm left all round. Needless.to.say they won't last till 10/24...
The Old PS4S lasted much better wear wise.
I'm struggling to find a reason to try a third full set...
May have to revert back to Eagle F1s.

Landsail LS588 UHP rated 56% while driving a SEAT Leon Cupra ST 290 (FWD)
Driving on a combination of roads for 10500 average miles
Well I've had these tyre for around 14 months and covered almost 11,000 replacing them now for 2 reasons had a puncture in one and then inspecting all of them one of them it starting to break up on the inside shoulder looks like its delaminating so for peace of mind 2 needed to be done but done all four.

Before i go into it i had these tyres fitted with the car brand new and had come from eagle f1's on my previous car. reading the reviews you have to treat them with respect in wet with braking distance in the 2021 Auto Bild UUHP Summer Tyre Test the wet braking is over double the distance for braking so treat them like your standing behind a donkey.

Straight line traction - is quiet comical alot of power to a fwd car 2nd gear no chance 3rd gear even on a warm day it will still be spinning its quiet funny spin them up a few times and get some heat into them then start to hookup, in the wet forget it the tyres can't cope even easing into it power is still cut.

I rotated them at 7000 miles Im sure they started out with around 7.5mm and had 4mm on the fronts rears had between 5.5-6mm so hoped for decent longevity.

Cornering dry conditions they are ok and can feel where the limit of the tyre is nothing special but they didn't do anything you wouldn't expect

are they a bad tyre no are they a good tyre im going to say not bad but get what you pay for in the dry they are ok and had to do a couple of emergency stops in the dry and they was fairly decent with a boot full of kit.

They have a treadwear rating of 500 which sounds good but i was far from probably getting the theoretical milage I've gone to eagle f1 AS6, I got a good deal 4 fitted for £518 if i was to replace the landsails fitted it was £362.

If your in abit of a pinch and need tyres and can't stretch to a midrange tyre and willing to treat it with respect in the wet then its not bad i think there is probably worse tyres out there but there could be better for similar money.

Nice handling tyre in the dry but not the best I've had in the wet.

Continental PremiumContact 7 rated 98% while driving a Audi S3
Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 spirited miles
Continental PremiumContact 7 tyres (235/35 R19) on 2017 Audi S3.

Replacing some old Goodyear tyres. The difference is Night and Day - the car feels more planted, you feel more connected to the road and the handling in both wet and dry is superb. Breaking is exceptionally good and I highly recommend making the switch to the CPC7
Kudos Jonathan and many thanks!

Rovelo Sport A1 rated 70% while driving a Mercedes Benz E 250 CGI Coupe
Driving on mostly town for 4000 average miles
Bought my car that came fitted with rovelo A1. Were doubtful at first as never used and unheard of. After using i find it very good enough for the price one is paying. Don't drive too fast and find it great for city driving. The downside for me is the treadware as it seems to wear off a lilttle too fast to my liking. The other is suspected aquaflying during wet so be careful not to go too fast during wet days. Other then that, will definitely repurchase and recommend to others which are into normal driving with very affordable price and performance. Cheers

Continental ContiSportContact 5 P rated 84% while driving a Renault
Driving on mostly town for 21747 spirited miles
I had these tyres fitted on my ex-Renault Megane RS265. They were fitted from factory and i travelled 35k kms before the required changing. Wet and dry grip is exceptional and i drove in a spirited manner to say the least. A mixture of town and motorways but never driven on track. Comfort is not this tyres strongpoint but it is an UHP tyre and this car was not designed for comfort so can't expect too much. Tyre is more on the expensive side but in terms of quality you get what you pay for.

Continental Sport Contact 6 rated 81% while driving a Volkswagen
Driving on a combination of roads for 7500 spirited miles
Really good tires with really good performance, especially when going in to corners and traction going accelerating out of corners! A lot of feed back through the steering wheel and reacts to smallest adjustments!

Continental SportContact 7 rated 83% while driving a Ford Focus ST 2.3 Ecoboost Estate (Mk4)
Driving on mostly country roads for 6000 spirited miles
Comparing this tyre to Michelin PS4S and Goodyear SuperSport.
CS7 is superior to both in wet grip, which is just phenomenal! Miles better than GY SS and also better than PS4S.
They don't need heat in them to grip, which is also a big advantage. Good dry grip, predictable, good comfort, etc.

I drive very fast and up until a month ago, I thought that this is the best tyre you could buy. I still think this is the case for most people, just not for me.

When you drive really fast on the road (and I mean fast in the way that lands you in jail in most countries), they disintegrate. Mine started peeling after 20km of pushing on a closed road.
I then took them to a trackday, put them on the back of the car, because it was raining, and they were great, while it was wet. As soon as it dried out, the outer edge of the tyre was gone in one lap, just delaminated. Mind you, this was on the back on a FWD car, I had GY SS on the front and they were as new.

So if you drive fast most of the time, buy GY SS. If you need a tyre that is phenomenal in wet and dry and you don't push the car to the limits, just get the CS7, it really is that good.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 rated 88% while driving a Volkswagen Mk8 GTI
Driving on mostly motorways for 100 average miles
Purchased the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 Oct 23 after plenty of research via this websites excellent You Tube channel {many thanks} as well as the Volkswizard Goodyear tyre tests {also on You Tube}. OEM fit to my Mk8 VW GTI were Eagle F1 Super Sports 225/40 R18 which were all I expected them to be i.e. good in most aspects given their year round use on my Golf. Changed wheel size to 19" so hence the research. No contest really. Chose the F1 Asymmetric 6 for potentially better winter/wet weather performance as these will be a year round fit. So far after a "test" drive over a very wet Saturday and a dry/sunny Sunday, very impressed!

Continental Sport Contact 6 rated 74% while driving a Volkswagen Golf R estate
Driving on mostly town for 0 average miles
I don’t know how people are getting under 20,000km on sport contact 6 you must be flogging your cars everywhere. I run these on a 2019 golf R wagon and I’m getting minimum 35,000km if I really take it easy I’ll get 40-45 thousand Km. These are a great tyre they may not perform AS well as Michelin pilot sport or other high performance tyres but they have great durability.
