255/30 19 Tyre Review Highlights

Radar Dimax R8 rated 47% while driving a BMW Z4
Driving on a combination of roads for 12000 easy going miles
Only do about 4000miles a year. The tyres were brand new when I bought the car I’ve done 12000 miles & thought all was good until yesterday when I got a flat tyre warning - on checking there was a 10 inch rupture on the inside wall of the rear near side . The other is showing signs of cracking on so it’s going to be replaced tomorrow. I certainly wouldn’t have again.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 rated 93% while driving a Mercedes Benz C207E400
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 average miles
My car is a Mercedes C207E400 that came with Conti 5p Great tyre but the life expectancy was poor. The last two pairs fell apart with 5mm of tread left.

Now comes the Goodyear Asi 5 255/30/19 that in my car the comfort , noise , ride comfort was excellent .Driving the car is much better with precise steering and controlled braking Conti 5p

Now comes the major problem , I had a tyre failure today ( my fault ) and Goodyear availability for my new tyre is unknown.

The Asi 5 is no more and the Asi 6 is the new kid on the block , but the rear tyre are not available in the size above.

Continental SportContact 7 rated 94% while driving a Audi RS3 8V
Driving on mostly country roads for 14000 spirited miles
I bought a full set of Sport Contact 7s for my RS3 Saloon back in February 2023, fast forward to today - 26th May - I have driven approximately 12-14k miles on this set and I could not be more impressed with these tyres. The level of grip in the dry is fantastic and very confidence inspiring. RS3s are known for their understeer but with the SC7s I have experienced very little to no understeer. The 12-14k miles have consisted of a mix of spirited and normal driving however it has predominantly been spirited. These tyres have also seen numerous days at Santa Pod and Donnington Race Circuit and despite all of the hard driving and considerable mileage they are holding up very well. Wear across all 4 tyres have been consistent and currently have approximately 2-3mm tread all round but even at this level the car grips wonderfully in the dry and exceptionally well in the wet. It feels so planted in the wet and is equally impressive, if not more, in the downpours as it does in the dry. By far the tyre of the year, can definitely see and feel as to why the SC7 outperformed the mighty MPS4s and for the price difference, its a complete no brainer. Will definitely be buying these again.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 rated 83% while driving a Audi A5 2.0TFSI Quattro
Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 spirited miles
I've been using these tyres for half a year now and they feel great. Though i must say dry grip is kinda offset by the quattro system, i still barely have any wheelspin, even in the rain, with a stage 1 tune.

Continental ContiSportContact 5 P rated 53% while driving a Mercedes Benz C207
Driving on mostly country roads for 3000 easy going miles
Hi , May seem strange but I would not purchase Continental tyres in the short term but I really like the 5p. Tyre wear OK overall performance in both the wet and dry is really good , should have been a good tyre but maybe does not suit my car , the new 7 looks in a different l?league but at present not for me. Reason : from my experience the the tyres last for twelve and structural issues occur.

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Run Flat rated 53% while driving a BMW Z4
Driving on mostly country roads for 3000 average miles
These were fitted to my unmodified 2015 BMW E89 Z4 SDRIVE 20i M SPORT ROADSTER when I bought it 6 months ago, the test drive very nearly put me off as the ride was so harsh, but convinced myself the car was ideal otherwise. Having now driven a few 000's of miles on most UK road surfaces I can honestly say I find the ride comfort to be pretty dreadful in most conditions - although ok on well prepared roads and it rides gentle undulations well, the car crashes on all blemishes in the road surface. Makes driving most A & B roads impossible to enjoy, as attention is focused on just avoiding problems. Crashy, harsh, unforgiving, tramlining. Granted the combination of M suspension (not active), 19" wheels and RFT tyres is hardly ideal, but will certainly be soon changing these tyres for something more forgiving, possibly non-RFT. May also invest in changing to 18" rims at the same time, if budget allows.

Continental Sport Contact 6 rated 76% while driving a BMW 330d M Sport
Driving on mostly country roads for 2000 spirited miles
Hi all, iv always bought conti's as they grip brilliant with my driving .. lol .. had to do this post as iv just bought a BMW 330d e93 and put conti's on the rear like 2,000 mes ago and the black chili tech is amazing even in the wet .. feather but keep pushing on the throttle and she grips real well.. anyway .. snow is coming so bought a new set of unrated snow tyres ( like to be different .. to help a company out and all that ) the tyre fitter removed the conti's and there is a 12-14" crack around the inner tyre wall !! Tyre pressure correct and no curbing or outer wall damage .. Iv messaged continental to ask for advice etc ( pending ) anyone else found this issue ? Quiet scary hey ...

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Run Flat rated NAN% while driving a BMW 330d M Sport
Driving on a combination of roads for 20000 spirited miles
Incredibly harsh bone-shaking ride on typical UK roads. OK on smooth roads in the dry. Dreadful grip on wet roads but gradual and predictable breakaway. You can have a lot of 'fun' at very low speeds. I've had two of these tyres literally explode this year - and one cracked wheel. Unfortunately, as they seem to last forever, I haven't tried any alternative yet...

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S rated 81% while driving a BMW 330i
Driving on mostly town for 9000 spirited miles
Had these on other cars. LOVED THEM, but all had higher profiles. These were fitted here on a BMW e93 330i convertible @;47psi so ROCK hard. They are quite impressive, but they perform much better with a higher profile. That said, wet and dry grip is excellent, but they have worn much quicker than I'd hope. Done 10k max. Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5's seem to rate better in most areas, so going to go for those.

Driving on a combination of roads for 8000 easy going miles
Hi , 8000 on the rear tyres and the are worn out Front tyres have 5mm of tread on them. Cannot say I am surprised re rear tyres but this car has never been hard and I don't accelerate hard.
