Hi, I have had these tyres on an MG TF 135. I don't know where this negative press comes from about their lifespan. I got 20,000 miles out of the rears and the fronts are still going!! Not even half way. Fitted them 9 months ago. Plus I have been known to push them quite hard! Even when I ran them to the legal limit, still had brilliant traction in wet and dry. They are OK in snow to. With my rear wheel drive MG and only a couple of mm from the limit, I had one instance where they failed, and the back end went for a walk. But easy to correct.(I must have done 1,300 miles in the snow.) I would highly recommend these tyres. Have run them on a Saxo VTS, Fiesta ST, Golf GTi and now the MG. They are great value for money, and give some of the 'bigger boys' a right run for their money!! They do well under 'pressure'.

A further update on the Avon ZV5s that I put on my BMW 530d in March 2011. As before these are good all round tyres - if a little noisy over our rougher road surfaces. I have now completed 10K miles on this set, including a f/b swop-over at 5K. I am now down to 3.5 to 4 mm of tread which is not particularly impressive, even allowing for the heavy, rear wheel drive nature of the car. Getting 10K of useful wear from a mid/premium brand is not good value, especially as I am not a particularly aggressive driver. However, I am beginning to wonder if the rough surface nature of our roads - Councils adopting cheapest, penny pinching, surfacing methods - acts like an additional abrasive to "normal" wear. If you look closely, you'll see what I mean. Because of increased roughness, there is less surface contact and hence greater forces acting at the points of contact.

changed from michelen premacys as not doing high mileages.z5 is quieter and steering more precise,noise is a lot less.dry handleing very good.not had much wet weather to be exact but seems good up till now.if wear is good would deffinately buy again.

The Avon ZV5 made by Cooper in the UK! Its a premium tyre, Avon are also used in Formula3 and 3000 racing with great results. Can not fault them! Outstanding grip in the wet and the dry with predictable handling. Also the tyre has a rim flange protector to help guard against kerbing damage on our lovely alloys. I normaly use Michelin or Dunlop but prices have gone up on those top names and my local tyre place was able to fit those ZS5 for only £95 each!! Not sure why they get the bad press about wear, so far so good and hope to let you know the final mileage!

Excellent tyres, I always felt I could trust them through corners and only once slightly lost the back end on a muddy track in Wales, not bad considering!
Suffered a little during the week or so of heavy packed snow in Winter, but no worse than anyone else around me.
Would highly recommend and buy again.

After five sets of Avon ZV5'S on a VW Passat tdi l am quit pleased with the performance, they do seem to wear out quit rapid about every six to seven months in my case,
l do around 20k per year , so around ten thousand miles is normal , l do check the pressures two times per week , l have just found out that l have two front tyers that are faulty , the tyer company does not want to know , and Avon are the same , the tyers have 5mm on so looks like l have to ditch them

Great value for money at under £300 for four (National Tyres, Lincoln, April 2010). I have been impressed by the good all-round performance of these tyres on my poor old S40 1.8. Unsurprisingly, I don't drive the Volvo like my old S-Type but I don't exactly hang around, either. After 26,000 miles of mainly motorway and dual-carriageway driving my first set of ZV5s (front and back swapped three months ago) has just about had it and will be replaced shortly. No question in my mind as to what the replacements will be - ZV5s, still at under £75 a throw (fitted).

Used to always buy avon zz3's, the zv5 replaced those. When looking for my latest set of tyres i decided to get uniroyal rainsport 2 however immediately they didnt seem right, few others drove the car and agreed, luckily enough the dealer took the uniroyals back and fitted the zv5's (which i should have bought in the first place.) The change in the car was instantaneous,grip was much better and the feedback was alot better. If they wear the same as the zz3 then they will wear uneven and probably not last as long as other tyres, but definately great tyre for the money.

Had these tyre now for four months now, having covered 5500 miles. I agree with the previous reviewer regarding the excessive rear tyre wear on rear driven cars such as my BMW. I am a fairly easy going driver. avoiding strong acceleration and braking where possible, but already thaese tyres have only 4mm left on the rear and 6mm on the front. Just swopped them over to even things up. They are noticably made from a fairly soft compund and it is quite reasy to move the tread blocks around with your fingers. Soft and sticky is good for grip but they wont last long. Looks like it's back to Michelins where I'll get at least twice the mileage for only 50% more cost.

Pretty good tyre right across the board. 3 mm tread left front and rear after 20,000 miles.
Just about to replace with the same @ £289- for 4 tyres. That'll do for me.

After fitting a set of four I found the rears have had an appalling wear rate - only lasted 6500 miles on rear of BMW 318 and now down to 2.5mm tread - front still have 5mm tread left. I am not a boy racer so cannot understand how they have worn so quickly.

Generally reaonable performace otherwise for the price - the wear rate being my only grip!

I've not driven too hard, about 12000 miles over two but had some fun at times and they're ready for changing now which I think is fair. Only really strugled in the wet and the snow.

Good wall protection for your alloys.

Good value for money in the dry where I felt relatively safe thrashing them round a corner.
