Questions and Answers for the Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 ev

2022-05-26 - I am considering this tire on my Model Y i the size 255/45R20. But then I learn that Hankook have a Ventus ION S coming up in May. But can’t find any info on it, reviews og price. I hope you can enlighten me - and most important, should I wait on the ION S over the EVO3 EV?

Unfortunately I don't have any in depth information on the new iON range, just what is already on the site. I expect the S1 EVO 3 EV to be more performance orientated than the initial tyres in the iON range.

Given 89% while driving a Tesla Model Y Long Range (255/45 R19) on a combination of roads for 36,000 average miles
Came new on my 2022 Model Y LR, changing them after 57'000 km and residual 0,5 cm tread.
Good dry grip and decent wet grip, these tires are quiet and with a low wear.
Good value for money, I am fully satisfied and I have ordered an identical set of tires.

Given 69% while driving a Tesla Model 3 LR (235/40 R19) on a combination of roads for 11,000 spirited miles
Came new on my 2020 model 3 LR with boost and have been on for 12 months over 11000 miles. Great dry grip and decent wet grip. Can spin all 4 wheels in the wet relatively easily but can be attributed to the instant torque. Quiet but wears extremely fast - down to 3-4mm all round after only 11000 miles. Switched to Michelin PS4S as previous experience on a M4 shown they wear much slower, rears still at 4mm after >20k miles. Only reason I can see for someone having these tyres is either they’re still on their factory set or they need to replace with identical tyres as per lease contract.

Given 64% while driving a Audi (235/55 R18) on mostly town for 15,000 average miles
Very good handling. Average comfort. Relatively bad wet handling with abrupt loss of grip in wet, but not soaked, road surface. The loss of grip is most prominent in oozy, slimy road surface.

Given 69% while driving a Tesla Model Y rwd (255/45 R19) on mostly motorways for 23,000 average miles
Original tyres on my Tesla model y rwd, grip good on dry, but on wet very slippy. Today is 8 celsius degree, I run them back home on wet, they slip every time when I accelerate. They run 37000km now and according to the tread depth 4mm left, they should be able to last for 50000km, quite durable. They are hard tyres, steering quick, but bounce a lot, maybe any other tyre will be more comfy than these.
