2014 Auto Review Max Performance Tyre Test - 6th of 7 tyres

  • Positive - Braking performance on dry pavement, handling on dry pavement
  • Negative - Grip and control on wet pavement, low resistance to aquaplaning, low comfort
  • Overall - The Pirelli P Zero would have been the correct tyre to have in this test, however as it’s not made in the sizes required, Pirelli opted to send the Corsa System, which is more an extreme performance / trackday combination of tyres. The combination of a directional front and asymmetric rear just gave the tyre the edge in the dry over the Michelin, but it struggled in the wet with braking, cornering and aquaplaning. Low comfort and high wear make these good track tyres, but for everyday use is better to use more versatile tyre.

Very good tyres in terms of steering feeling, much better grip on dry roads than standard PZero. On wet surfaces the grip is also very good but once you reach the limit the reaction are pretty fast, so you need to react fast. Also very capable tyre for an occasional trackday. I would place this tyre between a Uhp and a semi-slick. A little bit noisy but less than a Bridgestone Potenza Sport.

Got 9000mls out of rear on Guilia QF. Fantastic dry grip and v predictable. Scary in wet on water logged roads.

Just when I thought I saw it all..... They cost me a good fortune, but unfortunately, all hype and no action. Pirelli should be ashamed to even attempt to sell this tire for high horsepower applications. Even after extensive tire warm up and correct tire pressure (tried lower as well), this tire is dreadful in warm temp dry weather.. All total bs that this tire is a semi slick tire. I do not recommend for the street and especially not the track. Grip drops off very quickly and if you drive a high horsepower (e.g., over 600 hp) car, don't expect any grip of the line. Its a very hard dry compound. The contrary to what I was seeking. Cup 2s provide triple the traction these do. Stick to cup 2! So disappointed after purchasing these corsa tires.

It's a grippy and quiet tyres but quick wear on both sides of the tyres. Compared to Michelin Super Sport, Michelin seems to have more balance rubber in terms of overall performance and wear rate.
