Latest Group Test Results

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R VS Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport RS VS Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R - 2nd of 3 tyres

  • Positive - Excellent wet grip, in both wet braking and wet handling. Relatively low levels of aquaplaning. Stable lap times in the dry and easy to drive fast.
  • Negative - Relatively long dry braking and relatively average grip in the dry. Rear aquaplaning in the wet.
  • Overall - In this size at least, the Trofeo R should be a rival to the Cup 2, not the Cup 2 R. The Trofeo R was slower and softer in the dry, but had much better mechanical grip in the wet. As the lap times were more consistent, this is the type of tyre to fit if you plan on doing a lot of track days.

2019 17 inch Track Day Tyre Test - 5th of 5 tyres

  • Positive - Fastest dry lap time, good overheating resistance, quick steering speed.
  • Negative - Not good on the road, long wet braking.
  • Overall - The Trofeo R has the sharpest steering in all conditions, and unlike the other tyres on test, showed no signs of overheating. Needed a lot of warm up, hence not being the ideal tyre to also be used on the road.

2018 Sport Auto 19 inch UHP and Track Day Tyre Test - 2nd of 9 tyres

  • Positive - Best tyre in the dry, excellent steering and handling. Super stable.
  • Negative - Very poor in the wet, not recommended for the road. Noisy.

Top Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R Review

Given 94% while driving a SEAT Leon Cupra 280 (235/35 R19 W) on track for 1,000 spirited miles
Best semi slick tire on track usage. The tire should be hot for optimum performance, thus on street it wears very fast. On track it is faster than Cup2 and way beyond faster than cheap semi slicks like Toyo Proxes R888 R.

Given 50% while driving a BMW M3 (225/45 R17) on mostly motorways for 3,000 spirited miles
The dry performance of these tyres are very good. I would say it is grippier than the cup 2.
However, when taking feedback and wet performance into account, it is more like a slick tyre to me than a road tyre for track use, only it last even shorter than a slick tyre...........
