Vredestein Quatrac 3 Reviews - Page 3

Given 81% while driving a Audi Coupe 2.0E (195/60 R15) on mostly town for 5,000 spirited miles
I bought these last year as the winter snow was setting in and apparently Aberdeen no longer gets gritted. I decided to go for the Quatrac as although it's an all season tyre, 3 out of 4 of Scotland's seasons are normally winter!
Throughout the months of snow my old Audi never once got stuck and as the summer rain has come, the tyres have performed just as well as they did in January.

Plus points:
- Very good snowy, wet and dry grip
- Progessive. You know exactly where you are with these and how close they are to letting go.
- Little road noise, but I do have a high profile size.

Negatives -
- Quite pricey, which is probably the only reason I'd investigate other tyre brands/models
- My car has started to torque steer since fitting, but I have went from a 205 to a 195 size due to lack of availability when I was buying.
- As expected with an all season tyre, these are quite a soft compound, so I'd expect I'll see 10k out of them before I couldn't use them in the snow (have done 5k now). I'd say they'd be good for 15k before down to 2-2.5mm.

Overall they're probably the best money I've ever spent on a car, and sadly, I've spent a lot.

Given 83% while driving a Ford Fiesta (165/70 R13 T) on a combination of roads for 3,000 average miles
Never used this type of tyre before but am so far impressed. They are only on a Fiesta but are proving to be more than up to the job. Nice comfy and quiet ride and with great grip in dodgy conditions, good price too. What more can you ask?

Given 92% while driving a Volkswagen Jetta 2.0 TDI (205/55 R16) on mostly motorways for 9 average miles
I had good year triple treads on previously. Due to the lack of availability, I had to try a different tire. I have not noticed any diffence in road performance. Both tires have held the road great. The Vredestein tire is priced better. Glad I did not spend the extra money.

Given 80% while driving a Peugeot Partner combi (195/65 R15 H) on a combination of roads for 10,000 average miles
Have posted on these tyre's winter performance earlier. Now being July and having had warm/hot weather since April, I can report that these tyres are truly All-season! No, they are not as good as summer tyres but overall as a compromise, they do very well. If you push them, they under-steer more readily than a decent summer tyre. Steering is not as sharp and braking in the dry is not as confiddent. However, if you drive "normally", not attacking the road etc., they will perform very well.

Wear is also very good. around 10,000 miles exclusively on the driven front wheels and they are down to 2-3mm.

-- Highly recommended --

Given 69% while driving a Volvo XC70 D5 (215/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 50,000 average miles
Volvo XC70 now on my second set of quattrac 3's and getting 25000 miles per set per year with 1 mid range front/rear swap. Driving UK roads plus 4-5 weeks in the alps in winter in all conditions of thick snow, ice etc. Never been stuck and twice used the car to tow out other stranded cars on a hill from a standing start over slippery new snow. Not as secure as full winter tyres for high speed over snowy dual carriageways (overtaken by audis with full winter gear) but best not to drive fast in these conditions anyway. Snow grip dependent upon tread depth so best to fit new in late autumn. Used to change from winter to summer tyres in the spring but now keep these on all year round. Was doubtful at first because some dual purpose equipment can end up being the worst of both worlds, but these tyre seem to suit my purposes just fine. Will buy another set.

Given 93% while driving a Toyota Previa (215/60 R16 H) on a combination of roads for 4,000 easy going miles
Good safety in Scotland in Feb 2011 including snow/ice-coverd mountain roads. Quieter than summer tyres (esp below 7 degrees). dry/Wet weather grip seems fine.

I've never ever used better tyres than Quatrack3! Excellent all year round, they are on my car since winter time 2008 and still OK! Fantastic! Can't say more...

Given 84% while driving a Peugeot Partner combi (185/65 R15 H) on a combination of roads for 500 average miles
Bought these tyres 1 week before the snow hit my area and I cannot praise them enough! While everyone else is slipping around, I was able to pull away, stop and go round corners with ease. They are invaluable in the snow.
Dry grip is good, tyres are a very little on the noisy side byt are comfortable. I only wish I had 4 of them on the car as opposed to just 2 n the front!

Cannot comment on their longevity or prowess in warmer, dry temps - will post in due course

Very good all year round tyre. Winter performance was good, not as good as full winter tyres in the snow but the best compromise and much better than driving around on summer rubber during the winter.
