Audi 80 B4 Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Michelin X Ice North 4 given 86% (195-60-15-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 spirited miles
This tire was bought for my old analogue awd car for use partially on road and ice track and it has been phenomenal. It made a twitchy and understeery car much more direct and leaning towards oversteer in a very preferable manner both in thems of controllability and for road feedback. My tires are quite narrow and has a bit of a wallowy feel on dry road. The width also dictates the feel of the tire in the wet, but is very much as expected from any studded tire in this dimmension. It made my car feel much more communicative in low friction enviorements

Went to local tyre depot I was recommended these less than a,week later it rained the car was worse than driving on Ice aking it impossible to safely pull out of side roads Damp conditions I went back to tyre depot assuming tyres were faulty they claimed they weren't! They have zero grip in wet and extremely poor grip in dry they are by far the most Dangerous tyres I've ever Driven on I soon bought 4 new Japanese tyres the car does now break traction in the wet even under extremely hard acceleration

Nice tires. Long service life. Uniform wear. The car travels in the same way as on the rails. Only too noisy if the surface is rough. Before that there was old Goodyear Eagle. Good tires too, but they have served too long.

Had a pair of these on the front of my car, and they aged and cracked horribly after only 18 months. They were new stock when fitted, according to the date stamp, but after a while looked significantly older than the (actually older) Potenzas on the rear of the same car. By the time they were four years old, they had to be changed due to the danger of water ingress at the shoulder, even though the tread was still pretty good, so I “enjoyed" them on a track day. Never had a similar issue with any other Bridgestones...

i have had these on my car now for only a week, but the recent snow has made me make a distress purchase i did not want to! at first i bought 2 of these and fitted them to the driven wheels of my vehicle (huge mistake!) the difference in grip, and confidence these give you is unreal! i have had to drive ice covered snow topped roads for a week now, not even b roads, more e roads than anything, ie the sort of road that branches off a b road, that you would think is someone's drive way, but rarely see's anyone other than yourself down!
day 1 driving in normal tyres with 2 inches of snow on the ground was tricky, traction non existant etc, later on with 2 fitted to the front, well traction was there, except when breaking, the front end had so much grip the rear tucked and tucked into a ditch, even when off the pedal!
with the 4 winter tyres on (now these roads im driving are extreme! in 1 hour on monday 1ft of snow fell and i was the only person to drive the 9 mile stretch of road all day, a country lane thats about 2 ft wider than my car, up hills, down hills, round corners and with 1ft deep gulleys either side) and wow, i could drive it as if it was just a wet day, drive sensibly obviously presenting caution, but have no real fear of sliding losing grip etc, it was brilliant, my first time ever using winter tyres, and i highly reccomend them to anyone! i done alot of research and was torn between continental and these, and i think for the money these deffo worked out the best value for money whilst retaining alot of the same properties as the continentals did!
