BMW 123d Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Falken Azenis FK510 given 64% (225-45-17-)
Driving on mostly town for 10000 easy going miles
I have done 10000 miles with these tyres. They were generally fine but they wear out very quickly. Also they smell very bad if you drive it a bit long. I don't think that my next tires will be the same. I am planning to go for one of the premium ones.

Driving on mostly motorways for 1500 spirited miles
For the price they are good summer tyres, traction control light wasn't kicking in unless really pushing round bends, In the wet driving normally is fine but on roundabouts it felt far too easy to slide out, perfect if you are expecting it, again considering its a brand I've never heard of and the price I wasn't expecting them to be as good as the Goodyear asymmetric 5s I had on before, they were almost as good in dry but half as good in wet comparison

Writing about the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 given 90% (215-45-17-)
Driving on mostly country roads for 20000 spirited miles
These tyres are really impressive, better than Adrenalin RE003 in terms of performance, handling, comfort and price. Dry and wet grip is impressive, never had any oversteer moment. Last a long time, the grove might not be aggressive as some wannabe performance tyres, but they will just work on the dry and wet condition.

Writing about the Uniroyal RainSport 5 given 49% (225-45-17-)
Driving on mostly country roads for 5000 average miles
A little disappointed with these. They provide good but not exceptional levels of grip in the wet and dry. Compared to the previous version the sidewalls are stiffer and that also has a negative effect on the ride quality. They are also quite noisy on faster roads, possibly due to the open tread pattern. They also don't inspire much confidence in spirited driving, and you can feel them skipping on the road in the dry if you try to throw the car around on corners. I think if you are coming from a budget tyre you would be very happy with them, but if you are trying to compare them to a premium summer tyre such as a goodyear or Michelin then you are going to be disspointed.

Drove this Tyre on my BMW 123d and it was not save. Car was uncontrolable at Speeds above 80mph! It was really dangerous, cause it was not possibel to drive staight. It feels like driving tyres made of plastic foam! Realy strange...
This tyre is not compatible whit an BMW Series one.

Driving on a combination of roads for 31000 average miles
Vast grip in the dry and in the wet. Only negative would be they seem to be slightly snappier on the limit than the tyres fitted previously (stock Bridgestone Runflats). Still have over 3mm after more than 30,000 miles of mixed driving. Will not consider any other tyre when they get replaced!

Very good in dry conditions. Not tested in the wet yet. Maybe little bit noisy, but not much.

Tyre wear was reaaly bad, got 4000 miles before needing replacing! Otherwise good grip and low road noise.

ABSOLUTE RUBBISH !!!!!!
Fitted from new on a BMW 123d M Sport Coupe, the car has only done 13000 miles and the rear tyres need changing due to wear !!!!! WHAT A RIP OFF !!!
Come on BMW get your act together ,salesman fail to tell you that you'll need a new set of tyres every year !!!!! Most of the time its driven like Miss Daisy !!! Will never fit them again.

I have had these tyres on my rear axle (BMW 123D M SPORT)and 215 / 40 / 18 / Y on the fronts. The front tyre wear was acceptible (25k miles) but the rear have been beyond pathetic. I have had the car 2 years and replaced the rears 4 times at a combined price of almost £500 a go!

Last changed them in Oct 2010 and less than 5k miles later they are already on the legal limit. Yes I driver a powerful rear wheel drive car but no tyre should last only 5k miles!!!

Absolutely hate these tyres. Handling is ok but nothing special. Comfort is poor due to runflats.

There are no viable alternatives for these tyres for my car - got to the point where I am getting rid of the car as it is too expensive to buy tyres for.

Anyway all I can say is watch out if you are looking at BMWs - they are brilliant cars with terrible tyres!!!

HATE THEM!

This set was the original one mounted by BMW. Definetly not the set I was dreaming of. They were ROF kind of tyres. In general I did not dislike them but on a quite sporty and "amusing" car like the 123d they were not suiting right! The back become very "light" on wet conditions and force you to reduce the speed. I would say good tyres but wrong for this type of car. Pity that BMW was not aware of it.
