Mercedes Benz C200 CDI Est Blue Efficiency Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Pirelli P ZERO ROSSO Asimmetrico given 87% (225-45-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 500 average miles
I had these fitted to front of Mercedes C200 CDI - replacing Michelin Primacy HP. They have the MO mark.

The grip is outstanding from the first drive - the Michelin's were touring tyres and although still at 3mm, it was noticeable the grip had diminished and would say Pirelli is better when both were new. Michelin on front did over 23,000 miles and were legal for another few thousand, so no complaints on their front tyre life (rears only 16,000).

Pirelli also feels a little stiffer, grip brilliantly, stop quickly (Mich used to shudder a little as the abs would come on) and are quiet. From first few days suspect mpg may be a little lower (assume higher rolling resistance), but think the price, grip and braking outweighs this.

I was looking at Conti SC 5 ~(as current best on test), but found the Pirelli price had dropped to £100 a tyre on a few websites (saving about £30 for the pair - TyreGiant and Tyresavings), so good value at the moment.

I can't comment on Wear, as so new, but treadwear only 200, so may explain grip and mpg.

Highly recommended.

Driving on a combination of roads for 25000 spirited miles
I drive approximately 50,000miles per year a combination of motorway A and B roads and farm tracks for work. These tyres are fantastic and transformed the handling on my C Class estate with no need to change them in the Summer. The grip is excellent and mileage is good they have done at least 25,0000 miles and still have 3-4mm of tread. They maybe slightly noisey but that a small price to pay. I will definitely be replacing them with another set when the time comes.I have put them on my wife's and Son;s car so I am convinced these are the tyres to have for those who live in the country

Replacement rears for the Michelin Primacy HP originals. I researched more than in past (and found this site very useful), reflection of looking for value for money and concern at moving from Mercedes recommended 'MO' tyres (i.e. big names at big money) and that the car is rear wheel drive. Michelins did not last well on rears.

These are a great buy - solid all round performance. Car is not driven hard in hilly twisty Devon roads, so don't know about 'limit of grip', 'progressivenebss' etc. Grip in dry and wet is good/excellent - may be slightly less than Mich, G Years, Bridges etc etc, but any sensible driver would not know, and even if driving briskly they show no weakness.

Were £106 a tyre, vs about £150-175 for top names.

Only advice would be to check on fuel economy - may give up a little, but suspect only 2-3 mpg when tyres cold in urban driving. Out on M5 returned 50-55 mpg at various motorway speeds (65-80mph).

Too early to judge wear, but will report as tyre ages.
