Writing about the Kumho Ecsta PS31 given 73% (205-45-16-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 30000 spirited miles
Good enough to stay on corners when chasing sports cars like M3 or Gti's. Even put up with a GT3 once if you set the pressure very low like 205kpa front and 195kpa rears. But the front wears quite fast in this set up. Rear holds well so you do need to rotate this tyre every 7000km if you plan to do so. Be warn, this tyres also chips if front pressure is low. My third set after Hankook Evo 2's and that was marvelous! Used it for one year. And wet condition is very confident if you set pressure to 225kpa front and 215kpa rears. My size is 205/45 16. Breaking is also good if set up propperly. If you plan to get a set make sure it's not more than 1yr old. Havent tried the recent years like 2023 manufactured, surveyed at a friends recommended shop asking RM275 a piece. Definately risen in price. I bought mine for RM195 a piece at Denai Alam for a 1 year old tyre. I do wonder how the performance is for recently manufactured tyres. Now I'm usin Sumaxx Z1 semi "s" tyre made in china for a promo price. Normally use for track days. I would recommend the PS31 only as an alternative which is safe if you dont have a budget to go for Hankooks Evo2's or something similar.

Driving on mostly town for 500 spirited miles
A Spartan review => Excellent grip both dry and wet ! Excellent on corners ! Excellent on brakes also ! Doesnt care about wear just need the performance and they did perfect ! Replace my old Yokohama advan neova AD08R, also excellent tires ! Strongly recommend this Potenza Sport tire !

never had any problems with it, my car has never gotten into a slide with these tyres, have been running these tyres for a year and still have 50% tread left. would buy again.

Writing about the Nexen N Fera SU4 given 93% (225-40-18-W)

Bought these as tyres for new wheels when I replaced the old ones, which had Nexen N1000s on them. The tyres I bought are actually Roadstones on the sidewall, but they are the exact same in every way.

I'm actually really pleased with these, another good and low cost tyre from Nexen. The tyre composes itself very well in the dry, and has better aquaplaining resistance than the N1000s I had previous, but as usual do not come close to the Rainsport 3s from Uniroyal. Road feedback is really good, the sidewalls are nice and stiff too so there's no unnecessary roll on them. Wear wise, the tyres are lasting very well given the occasional fast road use that they see, so I'm very happy on that front. Comfort wise they're not the world's quietest tyres, but they're quite easily drowned out by just turning the music up a little.

Given the £42.50 per corner these cost on eBay at 225/40/18 size, I'm pretty chuffed with the tyres. Overall would recommend to anyone.

Hi,
I have recently bought a set of bridgestone driveguard to substitute my last potenza s001 that ride 50 000 km. The bridgestone potenza s001 were fenominal to my mitsubishi lancer sportback 150 cv and 300 N/m. Now were time to substitute them. I have to say that i drive sportly and fast. Half of km i have made probably was above 200km/h and with fast turns. The other half was quitly, smooth and very zen. For weeks with reserche i decide to try the driveguard. I have them a shoet of time, so i only can comparate to the S001.
The driveguard seems to be very secure tire, with a stable sidewalls like the s001. The wear is about the same. What i don' t know is why they heat so much if i get hard with them in a few km. I don't seem they going last the same like the potenza s001.
Let see what they going to reserve to me.
When i drive more, i post again.
Sorry about the english, i'm portuguese and i love fast cars and i'm fascinate about a good tire.

Writing about the Nexen N1000 given 89% (225-45-17-)

Found these Nexen N1000s at £40 a corner on eBay and needed some replacements for the fast-wearing Rainsport 3s that had decided to reward me with just 1.5mm of tread on the front tyres after just under 10k miles on the tyres, which in a car only pushing 143hp at the crank when it was new isn't exactly fantastic. Before the Rainsports I also had experience with Joyroad CX6s and Yokohama A10As.

Dry Grip:
These tyres grip well in the dry, they're stable and have predictable grip patterns. They're a little better in the dry than the Rainsports, and I haven't had any issues with them in this category thus far. The sidewalls are nice and stiff, so there's very little roll within the tyre itself. 9/10.

Wet Grip:
In the wet these tyres aren't as good as the Rainsports, but then again it'd be unfair comparing a high performance summer tyre to a rain-focused one. They're not scary in the wet, and for the best part they deal very well with standing water and such. But if pushing the car, you'll feel them go much earlier - it's not a sudden lack of grip though, you can definitely feel it coming. 7/10

Road Feedback:
The tyre transmits the road pretty well in my opinion. You can feel much better the nature of the road travelled. This was one of the really bad points on the original Yokohama A10A tyres that came on the car - every road felt the same and it was difficult to pre-gauge grip levels. 9/10

Progressiveness:
The tyre is really good at letting you know when grip levels are about to subside, it's one of the best points of the tyre. There's not a sudden loss of grip - it's very gradual, and you have plenty of time to react to the loss of grip. 10/10

Wear:
Not as much to say regarding the wear of the tyre. 3500 miles in the fronts are down from the surprisingly deep original 8mm to just shy of 7mm, so they're definitely wearing far better than the Rainsports. 9/10

Comfort:
Not very easy to judge as the car has had extensive exhaust and suspension modifications, but the tyres don't seem uncomfortable. Noise is fine, but can't be heard over the car anyway. 8/10


Overall I'd definitely buy the tyres again. The price is fantastic, and overall the tyres are very good. I might try a few others just to see what's out there, but these Nexens are definitely very good.

Overall these were very surprising tyres. Were much cheaper than the alternatives, yet provide the obvious very good wet grip but also good grip in the dry, as well as good feedback and a very quiet, comfortable ride. However, when pushed to the edge the boundary between grip and the loss of it is quite abrupt - there isn't really a gradual change as grip is lost.

The one big problem with these tyres however is lifespan. While I admit that I'm not the kindest to my tyres, I wasn't expecting the fronts to be down to 2.5-3mm after just 4500 miles, in a car only putting 143hp through the fronts. The rears are fairing better, with around 4.5-5mm left. The edges also wear much quicker, as the slightly squashy sidewalls mean you often end up rolling onto parts of the tyre not designed for use in high speed corners.
