Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Falken Azenis FK520 given 82% (245-40-18-)
Driving on mostly country roads for 2000 spirited miles
I have them on my Evo X for a few months and I am very pleased with them. Grip is good and they seem to be a very progresive tyre. Comfort seems above average for a UHP. I had two sets of Hankook S1 Evo 2 that have been amaizing, with exceptional feedback and very good handling, both attributes that are better than the Falkens. Overall, I would have bought them over the FK520, but that doesnt mean that the Falkens are not good. But my next set will definetly be the S1 Evo 3, Hankook in my opinion is the king of value-performance. Yet again, the FK520 are very good tyres, but they don't give me the feeling of the S1 Evo 2. Maybe they will have better wear than the Hankooks, as that was a weak point on the S1 Evo 2.

Driving on mostly motorways for 5000 average miles
Had these mounted on EVO X. I had them on for my daily commute but also tested them out on track a couple of times where they were pretty good, considering they are not designed for track use. On track they lacked a touch in grip, braking and cornering. But on the road they are very good, for a daily drive, they are comfortable in absorbing bums, quiet and seem to last very good. Decent in the wet too. Now for the best bit for these tyres, which are essentially NEXEN rebrands, is the price. 255/35/19 for £69 quid a corner, yes please! To get anywhere near this lvl of performance, you would have to spend £100++

Driving on track for 10000 spirited miles
I've had these tyres on multiple cars, but I will only focus now on my experience with the Evo X. My car is standard, with the expection of a tune, so I am running just over 350hp. I have bought these tyres because of their reputation and very good price. I have paid around 450 euros for a set of them and I have had an excelent experience with them, both on track and on road. Road feedback is good, dry grip and handling while not on par with maybe a Michelin PS4S have been very good. I was very impressed with them on track, as they have been very consistent and comunicative. Wear on track has been exceptional, even after long, high heat sessions. I have never seen a road tyre to cope so well. Truth be told though, that after about 3 track days and a lot of very spirited driving in the mountains, the Hankooks have lost a lot of their grip from new, and that is because of the intense heat cycles they have been through, even if (surprisingly) they still have good tread on them. That is to be expected with any kind of tyre. In my opinion, these are THE BEST UHP TYRE for the money. Incredible performance for the money.

Writing about the Tracmax Radial F101 given 83% (245-40-18-)
Driving on mostly motorways for 1000 spirited miles
Due to poor wheel alignment on my Evo X (juiced by TMR to 270kw) I was forced to replace the fronts at short notice and could only afford cheapies. However, the Tracmax are comfortable, sticky and not unpleasant to look at. Wet grip is ok provided you drive within your limit, noise is better than the Falkens or even the stock Dunlops so much that I often forget I'm driving a chiropractor's wet dream. The Tracmax go where I point them, feel less 'springy' than the Falkens and are undoubtedly the best tyre I have ever bought for $140 (Australian) . Of course I haven't tracked them and can't comment on wear yet. I do most of my driving on country roads and freeways, and I want a tyre that doesn't force me to slow down for corners, and allows my wife to drag HSV's and M3's at the lights enroute to her meth dealer. She's unbeaten as yet and I've yet to hear a chirp from the tracmax. Best $280 I ever spent on front tyres.

Very very good fast road tyre. Hard to fault, maybe a little bit noisier than average but for the dry grip they give that's being picky

Writing about the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 given 94% (245-40-18-W)
Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 spirited miles
This is an update of an earlier review I submitted, I have now had these tyres for over 8 months (6000 + miles) with a road trip to the Nurburgring, completing 4 on the edge laps plus the 1200 mile round trip there and back and I can say that these tyres preformed excellently, above and beyond expectations, there has been very little wear since last review and even on the absolute limits I was amazed how much grip and feedback was received. Also very good in the wet. Will be buying again, keep it up Goodyear!

Driving on a combination of roads for 500 spirited miles
Have only covered about 500 miles in these tyres so far, so just about scrubbed in. Changed out the original Yokohama Advan A13 tyres which managed to get 12000 miles out of. The grip levels I would say are on par with the yokohamas and with AWD I like to get the most out of high speed corners and roundabouts although not tried during the wet yet. The Goodyear’s have very low noise levels at normal and high speeds, the car feels allot more planted now with little or none tramlining so already a better buy than the yokohamas and at about £160 a corner, fitted at Elite Tyres in Essex, it’s a no brainer.
I will update this review once a few more miles are on the treads but its all thumbs up from me here at the moment, very pleased.

Brilliant grip in all conditions - virtually impossible to lose traction. This is definitely at the expense of wear though....all four gone after 11000 miles.
