The car came with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT and as I was not happy with wear and dry grip including feedback and progressiveness I changed them while they were still new-ish. Fitting PSS on this car I did compromise wet grip a bit especially in cold, but I've never experienced such a outstanding dry grip, feedback and progressiveness. I loved my car before that purchase but I started to love it even more after.
Now as they have 11k miles and 4 mm tread left they do tend to lose grip much earlier. But they are due to change. Problem is Michelin stopped producing them in this dimension, and the only available option is Pilot Sport 4. I did make request from dealer to try to find a set of 4 PSS somewhere in europe. I'll see how this will go. If not most probably will try PS4.

I came from a VW Golf GT 170 running in Michelin Crossclimates which were fantastic (I live in the IOM where rain features...alot); they left the steering a little woolly but worth the sacrifice for the reassurance especially as now my wife's car. Now I drive a Mercedes E250 Sport (mistake really as an E Class is meant to be a luxo-barge and doesn't really suit sport suspension etc. No matter). The E Class came with PSS 275/30/19 rear, 235/35/19 fronts...what fantastic tyres. Grip is phenomenal, wet grip amazing...while driving on the M6 in wet conditions there was quite a bit of surface water which I know would have unsettled previous cars I have owned. The Merc felt rock solid, no lightness to the steering, nothing but grip and reassurance. Steering feel is great with very little sidewal or lateral give (if that is the right terminology). Only complaint would by the tyre noise. Big tyre, lots of surface contact I suppose it goes with the territory. But that's it, I will be buying again that is for sure (not sure when as wear also very good).

Assuming this tyre to be the pinnacle for grip, I am disappointed. The dealer placed the 'star rated' (BMW) tyres on my 370z &there is little grip when cold and or mildly warm. When only properly hot do I start to get grip but that means a lot of wheel spin &sliding prior. Not ideal in public on the street. No issues normal driving or rain. Recently at CONSTANT throttle on a reasonable curving road the rear stepped out and was saved by the electronics. Unacceptable when I can drive that corner faster in a standard NA Ford Focus with no drama, in any other car either? Seems the Star rated is very different from the standard version, more a track tyre &terrible on the street

Didn't enjoy these tyres at all, found them very temperature dependant (when the tyres were cool they had much lower grip than when warm). Also found that they'd let go much sooner than other tyres I'd tried on my car. In the wet they were far too easy to spin, especially at junctions when you're turning.

Also found that they caused body roll, my previous tyres were much stiffer sidewall (Michelin are XL tyres). The body roll meant I never had confidence in these tyres that I had in previous tyres. Never lost grip on a corner, probably because they never felt like I could really push them.

Road noise was good, had the tyres on for 5,000 miles and weren't 1/4 warn, so life seems good. Didn't notice any MPG change.

For the money I paid, these were a huge dissapointment. I'd of been better off getting something with a stiffer sidewall.

Ich habe gerade das vordere Paar ersetzt – da hatte ich seit März 2014 ein identisches Set drauf. Die Reifen sind wahrscheinlich etwas zu viel für mein Auto, aber es sind die besten Reifen, die ich je an irgendeinem meiner Autos hatte (Kuhmo Ecsta, Pirelli P6000 (Fürcherlich!), Yokohama, Uniroyal Rainsport etc.).
Sie haben ursprünglich ein paar Continental Sport Contact 3er ersetzt, die nicht lange gehalten haben.
Beim Kauf der Michelin PSS hatte ich fast einen Kompromiss bei der Haftung auf nasser Straße und viel mehr Geräuschentwicklung als bei den Continentals erwartet. Aber während der Lärm ähnlich war (ein paar südliche Abschnitte der M25 sind echt schlimm, was Geräuschentwicklung angeht), war der Unterschied beim Grip echt unglaublich. Schmierige Kreuzungen, die ich regelmäßig nehme, und bei denen ABS und Traktionskontrolle wegen der Continentals immer Mehrarbeit leisten mussten, funktionierten plötzlich reibungslos, ohne dass eines der Systeme überhaupt ansprang!
Die Verschleißquote hat meine Erwartungen auch weit übertroffen, mit 25.000 bei den Vorderreifen.
Würde sie wieder kaufen und empfehle sie gerne jedem weiter :-)

Ich habe zwei Sets dieser Reifen in 20.000 km verbraucht. Wer nach einem Reifen sucht, der immer die Bodenhaftung behält, dann sind diese Reifen genau richtig. Als ich das Auto gekauft habe, waren die Pirelli Zero Nero der Standardausführung dran. Die sind furchtbar, besonders bei Nässe. Sie halten kaum die Spur und winden sich beim Bremsen. Auf der anderen Seite, die Michelin Pilot Super Sport, die sind super. Sie halten nicht so lange, haben mich aber im Gegensatz zu den Pirelli-Reifen nie im Stich gelassen. Das Feedback ist brillant, du weißt immer was das Auto vorhat, in allen Situationen.

Ich hatte 4 Sorten Reifen an meinem Auto, darunter Goodyear Assymetric 2 (RFT), Conti SportContact 5P, Michelin Pilot Super Sport, und jetzt Michelin Pilot Sport 4.
Ich fahre viel in langsamem Verkehr, mache aber an Wochenenden auch einige Ausflüge in die Berge.
Ich mochte immer die PSS. Die haben eine immense Traktion und Grip, saugen Straßenunebenheiten einfach perfekt auf und kommen mit meiner Radaufhängung gut klar. Die Haftung auf nasser Straße ist großartig, nur Feuchtigkeit und Kälte mögen sie nicht.
Als 18-Zoller haben sie etwas weichere Seitenwände, daher verformen sie sich ein wenig bei schnellen Beschleunigungen aus niedrigen Geschwindigkeiten. Dadurch bewegt sich das Fahrzeugheck auch etwas mehr als gewöhnlich und in Kurven oder über Unebenheiten muss man einen Moment warten, bis die Haftung zurück ist.
Im Vergleich mochte ich den Conti 5P etwas lieber wegen seiner Präzision und Fehlerfreiheit. Aber mit der M-Performance-Aufhängung meines Autos ziehe ich definitiv den PSS vor – wegen seines Grips und seines Komforts.
Heute benutze ich Michelin Pilot Sport 4er, die unabhängig von der Temperatur mehr Grip haben. Sind genauso komfortabel wie der PSS, haben aber die Reaktionsgeschwindigkeit und Genauigkeit des Conti.
Werde ich PSS wieder kaufen? Für Reifen ab 20-Zoll – definitiv.
Für 18-Zoller bleibe ich bei den PS3.

after ditching the Continental Sport Contact 3 before the tread ear mark due to noise and lack of grip i got these bad boys and WOW is all i can say, Grip is improved, Noise is reduced, Road feedback is great, very progressive but i drive an AWD Audi, Wear seems better than the old Conti's, Comfort is just fine in the 2015 A4 S-Line and yes i would buy again but im keen to try the PS3 on my play car, review to follow :)

OK an update on my purchase (and review) in Aug 2013.

I have kept these on for 29k miles and have had to change the fronts only due to my tracking being out and uneven wear, rears still have over 3mm but should last me this year until my winters go on (Dec-March).

As has been reported there is a little more noise than some but I just turn the stereo up a little :O)

Weirdly (and according to Michelin) the replacement for these is the PS4, so may well be saving up for a set for next year. But am tempted to try a set of Nokian Z lines (although apparently wear is an issue with these.

Appreciate here that mine is an AWD with 50/50 split to the drive wheels (later models were 40/60), so wear apart from curbing should be the same. Fortunately because I have winters on for 3-4 months I can do the tyre rotation then.

These have never let me down yet.

PS: I classify my driving style as 'easygoing' purely because I am not aware of any A6 driver that has gotten over 950 miles from a single tank and in excess of 50mpg (brim test) which is over 10% higher than the manufacturers claim :O)

J'ai eu 4 types de pneus sur ma voiture, y compris des Goodyear Asymétrique 2 (RFT), des Conti SportContact 5P, des Michelin Pilot Super Sport et maintenant des Michelin Pilot Sport 4.
Je conduis dans beaucoup de trafic lent mais le week-end je fais beaucoup de conduite en montagne.

J'ai toujours aimé le PSS. Ils ont une immense traction et adhérence, ils absorbent les imperfections de la route et ils sont parfaitement à l'aise avec ma suspension. L'adhérence sur sol mouillé est grande, mais ils n'aiment pas les conditions humides, ni le froid.

En 18" ils ont une paroi latérale légèrement molle, ce qui signifie qu'ils se déforment un peu pendant les fortes accélérations depuis les vitesses lentes faisant bouger l'arrière de la voiture plus que d'habitude, et dans les virages ou sur les bosses vous avez besoin d'attendre un instant pour qu'ils se règlent.

Comparativement, j'ai aimé le Conti 5P avec plus de précision, mais je préfère vraiment le PSS pour l'adhérence et le confort avec mes suspensions de voitures M-Performance.

J'utilise maintenant le Michelin Pilot Sport 4 qui donne plus d'adhérence, peu importe la température, et est aussi confortable que le PSS, mais a la vitesse de réponse et la précision du Conti.

Vais-je acheter le PSS à nouveau? En 20 pouces et plus, sans aucun doute.
En 18 pouces je vais rester avec le PS4.

Je viens de remplacer la paire avant que j'avais montée en Mars 2014, par un ensemble identique. C'est probablement trop pour ma voiture, mais ce sont les meilleurs pneus que j'ai installé sur l'une de mes voitures. (Kuhmo Ecsta, Pirelli P6000 (Horribles!), Yokohama, Uniroyal RainSport etc)
Ils ont initialement remplacés des Continental Sport Contact 3 qui n'ont pas durés trop longtemps.
Lorsque j'ai acheté les Michelin PSS je m'attendais presque à une adhérence moyenne sur sol mouillé et un bruit de la route beaucoup plus important que les Continental. Alors que le bruit était semblable (quelques sections sud de la M25 sont terribles pour le bruit) la différence d'adhérence était incroyable. Sur certaines routes bien grasses que j'utilise régulièrement, où les Continental faisaient faire des heures supplémentaires à l'ABS et au contrôle de traction, je passe maintenant soit sans système soit en utilisation du tout!
Le taux d'usure a également largement dépassé mes attentes à 25000 pour les avants.
J'en achèterai encore et les recommande à tout le monde :-)

J'ai eu deux jeux de ces pneus en 15000 kms. Si vous voulez un pneu qui colle à la route, alors c'est le pneu fait pour vous. Quand j'ai acheté ma voiture elle avait des Pirelli P Zero qui sont la monte d'origine. Ce sont des nuls, en particulier sur le mouillé. Ils ont un tramligning terrible et se tortillent au freinage. D'autre part, les Michelin Pilot Super Sport sont superbes. Ils ne durent pas longtemps, mais ceux-ci ne vont jamais lâcher, contrairement aux pneus Pirelli. La sensation est brillante, vous savez comment est la voiture dans toutes les situations
