255/55 16 Tyre Review Highlights

Michelin CrossClimate Plus rated 86% while driving a Volvo v70 D5
Driving on a combination of roads for 35 average miles
Expected better, but the heavier front end (diesel) and driving style doesn't help life span.

Nexen CP671 rated 80% while driving a Kia Motors ceed
Driving on a combination of roads for 28000 average miles
These were fitted to my 2007 Kia Cee'd 16 CRDi when I bought the car at 80,000 miles.

After 3 years and 30,000 miles they are down to 4mm all round (after being rotated front to rear to get even wear) which I think is pretty good life span as I generally don't hang about.

Grip is good in both wet and dry, and handling seems fine.

Dislikes include road roar and that they are directional which is a pain when I came to rotate them. Additionally, there is now quite a lot of cracking between the tread which concerns me.

Cooper Zeon CS6 rated 47% while driving a Skoda Octavia estate
Driving on mostly motorways for 7 average miles
Found this review whilst looking for replacement tyres. A summer shower on M45 Coventry had me Aquaplaning almost off the road and going way less than speed limit. Summer grip is fine. Road noise is dependent on surface. Unlikely to buy these again.

Accelera Alpha rated 30% while driving a Skoda Octavia
Driving on a combination of roads for 3000 average miles
I'm only writing this review to comment on the wet grip of this tyre which is awful at best and better described as dangerous. These tyres make a city roundabout a risky business and I dread to think what might happen on a country road...you need an extra lane to deal with the understeer. I won't be hanging around to find out though as I'm changing them ASAP and have no hesitation in spending the money required to do so. They came on the front of a 2nd hand skoda octavia and appear to have been fitted recently (look new, plenty of tread). My life is worth more to me than the cost of replacing them.

Continental WinterContact TS 810 S rated 84% while driving a BMW 320D
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 spirited miles
Great tyres - would get them again and again. Superb grip in the slush and snow.

Pirelli P6000 rated 100% while driving a Volkswagen Beetle 1200
Driving on mostly town for 0 spirited miles
I got 2 front Pirelli P6000 on Thursday, I feel already it has made a big difference when driving, I had Continental Conti-sport ones before but I prefer these, better to steer, really comfortable and looking forward to test them out on a long distance journey.

Nankang NS2 rated 40% while driving a BMW E39 5 series
Driving on mostly town for 15000 spirited miles
I bought these because they looked good and were relatively cheap. Dry grip is not too bad, but they are a dissaster in the wet - very scary at motorway speeds in the rain. In snow it's like driving on bald tyres - almost no grip at all. The outside edge of the front tyres wore away very quickly and NO my tracking does not need doing. I will be relieved to change these for a better tyre.

Toyo T1R rated 81% while driving a Volkswagen Golf GTI
Driving on a combination of roads for 98000 spirited miles
These tyres replaced some Conti Contact Sports on the front end and IMMEDIATELY, there wasa complete lack of slip-and-slide in the vehicle.

The in-cabin noise decreased significantly, and the feel of the vehicle was improved noticeably around corners and in tight bends.

Dry response was improved and wet reponse was far more positive - in fact, the vehicle felt more "solid and sticky," on the road.

I'm going to get some put on the back end at the end of the month. These tyres ROCK.

Pirelli PZero Nero rated 75% while driving a Porsche 911 3.0
Driving on a combination of roads for 15000 average miles
Just bought the Neros after reading many reviews. Have 300k on a so far quite good. I do not have the tramlining issues noted in some reviews and grip in the wet seems reasonable although tough tell as yet. They are much quieter than the Toyos they replace and provide a much softer ride and accurate steering feel. I drive my older 911 in a pretty spirited manner but do not drive in heavy rain. (and never in snow!) The Neros provide a confident feel in damp to medium wet conditions.
I find them, best of all, to be very predictable regardless of conditions so I always know what the car will do. If I drove a more modern, higher powered car, results may be be different but for my 3.0 911, these tires have so far been very good.
