Bridgestone A001 Reviews - Page 3

Given 90% while driving a Ford Mondeo (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 15,000 spirited miles
Marked difference between this and the usual summer tyres in the wet but no loss of grip in the dry. Being a bit softer have last for abot 15,000 on the front. Highly recommended and will buy again.

I rarely leave reviews - but I want to tell the world about these tyres as safety matters - and these tyres are amazing. It is just a little bit of rubber holding you and a ton of metal to the road at 70mph, and in the wet, cold, snow and ice this is not an easy task - these tyres are up to the job. I reckon I've driven ~250k miles in my life, and these are by far the best tyre I've ever owned. I want other road users on them as it will reduce their chance of crashing into me or just crashing and causing delays (selfish I know).

In the dry of summer they are comparable to most other tyres, comfortable, good steering/grip feedback, no extra cabin noise (skoda octavia diesel - well sound proofed).

In the cold / wet they are notably more confidence inspiring than most tyres. Cope well with standing water, and the compound obviously grips well when cold - winter tyres are not just about snow, but grip as the rubber hardens in the cold (geeky but true).

In the snow / ice they are in a league apart - last winter the main road was blocked by drivers who could not move in the snow, I took to the uncleared b roads under 4-6" snow and whilst I drove sensibly I had no problems what so ever. In snowy car parks people wanted my space when I left as it was accessible (it was to me with these tyres) others could not get in as they were slipping all over the place - made me laugh.

Wear - 35k mixed motorway and backroads, fronts worn out (2mm at lowest, 4mm at edges, and just beginning to lose grip in wet!), rears at 5mm all across - so same as previous summer tyres ! My tyres normally wear more on one side, these have been even, but are wearing more in the middle (I normally run well inflated tyres for fuel economy, but these obviously bulge a little more in the middle doing this than previous tyres - will drop 2psi on next set).

And no more expensive than good quality summer tyres - cheaper than upgrading to a 4X4 (whilst a 4X4 may go in the snow on summer tyres, a 4X4 doesn't stop or steer any better than a standard car - it's all in the tyres).

So why wouldn't you get a set

Given 98% while driving a Rover 75 2.0 cdti Tourer (195/50 R16) on a combination of roads for 23,000 easy going miles
Best all round tyre ever owned. Snow 5*, ice 3*, wear 5* (done 23k mile still 5-10k left on a front wheel drive) best lasting tyre we have had in the last 150k miles.

Only negative is marginally more noise at low speed/ round town. On the motorway no noticable difference.

Given 100% while driving a Ford Mondeo (205/55 R16 W) on a combination of roads for 50,000 spirited miles
Best tyres I have ever had. They give so much confidence when driving the car and if you need to do emergency maneuvers be it in rain, snow, ice, dry they never fail. I have just purchased a new set of these tyres and after having to rush to the hospital in the pouring rain to save a friends eyesight I can say these tyres are definitely worth every penny. I have now had 2 sets of these and never plan to use anything different again. These tyres should be made a standard for all cars because the performance is unparalleled (speaking from experience). I may be biased but even other Bridgestone tyres do not come close. With the severe unpredictable weather conditions we now get in the UK I recommend these to friends and family on a weekly basis.

Great tyres, they have transformed my Mazda 6 from being a great car in every condition but winter to just being a great car! Winter is not an issue anymore and snow and ice have proved to be no problem without the hassle of changing and storing tyres.

Given 87% while driving a Mercedes Benz C200 CDI Est Blue Efficiency (205/55 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 25,000 spirited miles
I drive approximately 50,000miles per year a combination of motorway A and B roads and farm tracks for work. These tyres are fantastic and transformed the handling on my C Class estate with no need to change them in the Summer. The grip is excellent and mileage is good they have done at least 25,0000 miles and still have 3-4mm of tread. They maybe slightly noisey but that a small price to pay. I will definitely be replacing them with another set when the time comes.I have put them on my wife's and Son;s car so I am convinced these are the tyres to have for those who live in the country

Given 96% while driving a Volkswagen Touran tdi (205/55 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 5,000 easy going miles
excellent tyres, great in cold wet conditions, very good in snow, possibly wear less well than summer tyres but still good overall value. Would definitely buy again. Much better in winter than summer tyres and ok in summer if you just want to run one set of tyres avoiding extra steel wheels, £10 per wheel per tyre change. I use on VW Touran so absolute performance not essential but allows you to drive past cars stuck in snow.

Ok before I describe these tyres I have to say that this is my second pair of all weather tyres. I had the Hankook 4S ones on my other car and they are amazing, silent and grippy....However, in wet conditions they are a tad behind other summer tyres.....My reason for getting the A001 was the snow factor in UK. I travel everyweek from ipswich to manchester and back so I need good tyres. My local shop had only these available in 16 so I had no other option (otherwise i would have gone for the hankook ones) so I took a leap of faith and man I am glad I did.....Yes as reviewers say they are not the silent ones but man are they good.......smooth and yet grippy. During the recent windy (90mph) and extreme wet conditions i was able to maintain a speed of 70mph (despite p00r visibility conditions) with no loss of grip. When I reached manchester there was some unexpected snow and black ice and everyone was slipping in car parks...with only one security jeep making its way and helping people....I thought this would be a good time as any to test the tyres so I went into the car park with a rear wheel drive car (in summer mode) and I was constantly waiting for the car to slip a bit but it didnt....For me it was like there was no ice....although my speed was limited by the traction control to 30 mph but remember this was pure Ice and on braking there was no ABS.....I would highly recommend these to anyone.

Excellent tyre in the wet. the car basically sticks to the road, great in corners also. Now we have some snow (1 inch) but mainly slush, the car feels excellent, and this is what i really bought these for. I have yet to try in deeper snow.

Given 73% while driving a Audi A3 1.8T sport (205/55 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 8,000 spirited miles
Bought for the front axle Audi A3 1.8t. Dry grip is excellent, as good as normal summer tyres. Wet grip is excellent too with a very progressive feel. Rear tyres are Bridgestone Blizzark LM25 (Winter tyres) which is the same tread pattern as the A001. Wear rate is very good with little or no wear to the tyres. Highly recommended

Given 91% while driving a Skoda Octavia (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 14,000 average miles
Last year (Oct 2010) I was looking for a tyre that was good in winter weather and also in the summer weather.
I was shown the new Bridgestone A001 All season tyres.
The very helpful tyre dealer said it would be good in the winter weather as well as the summer weather.
We did discuss the option of changing tyres from summer tyres to winter tyres but as I am a little lazy couldnt be bothered with this and also the expence of having to buy a second set of wheels for the second set of tyres.

So I decided to go for the A001's.

What a good decsion this was.

As the winter weather drew in and the snow started I got to drive up and down the hills I live on with out any worry or concerns in any weather condition. I even moved the car with 9 inch's of snow on the road.
My previous tyres I have used were useless and wouldn't get me off the drive let alone up the hills if there was a dusting of snow.

I am now a convert to these tyres and explain to anyone willing to listen just how much of a difference they make in the winter weather, I was amazed that tyres could make such a difference.

I have just replaced the first pair and will be changing the others when they need to be replaced to the A001's and will be changing all of the tyres to these on my wife's car.

I used to use Michelin Pilot Primacy's (summer tyres) but the A001's grip as well in the summer conditions or rain as they did.

My only dissapointment with these tyres is the amount of miles I got out of the first pair.
I got 14,000 miles which was lower then the Michelin's although my freindly tyre dealer suggested transfering the tyres back to front every 5,000 miles will increase the tyre wear. He did also tell me that the other all season tyres wouldnt get to 14,000 miles and that 14,000 miles was very good for the A001's.

As you have probably gathered by now I would highly recommend these tyres.
