Pirelli P 7 Reviews - Page 6

Given 64% while driving a Ford (205/55 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 18,500 average miles
Had these P7's on the car from new and managed to get 18500 miles out of them. Wheel spin pulling away on wet or damp roads was pretty bad but felt okay on the move. Road noise was quite pronounced, especially on motorways. When the tyres got to around 14000 they began to tramline and the steering became a lot more fidgety. Decided to replace all four with Kumho KU135's but still early days as to this being the right choice. Time will tell.

Given 44% while driving a Volvo C30 T5 (205/50 R17 W) on mostly town for 13,000 average miles
Average grip. Very noisy tire, especially on highways. FR tire became useless at less than 13000 miles, while the other 3 tires are fine. Will never buy Pirelli again

Given 93% while driving a BMW 530D (225/55 R16 W) on a combination of roads for 46,000 average miles
Car is a late 2003 530D (current model). I deliberately avoided run-flats and low profile. P7's were supplied on the car. I changed the two rear tyres in June 2006 after about 23000 miles. I changed all four in June 2009 at about 45,000 miles. I considered changing to Michelins, but rejected, because I am very satisfied with the P7's, and Michelins were far more expensive. I also have a 320td Compact, which has Michelins, and I found the ride comfort improved slightly after changing from Pirelli P6000's, but I felt there was no need to improve the escellent ride on the 530d

Given 84% while driving a Volvo V50 estate (205/50 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 18,000 average miles
18000 miles off the fronts (2 litre diesel) which is probably acceptable. Previous car (2 litre petrol mondeo)never gave much more than 19000 off the fronts. Expected diesel to be much poorer.

Given 86% while driving a Audi 3.2 A3 (225/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 25,000 average miles
Good overall grip wet and dry, car feels very neutral
Consistent wear all round would buy again if I had the money that's the one thing that is off putting ?100 a tyre.

Given 80% while driving a BMW E32 7 series (225/60 R15 V) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
I bought a full set of these for my E32 730i to replace the cocktail of GT radial, Uniroyal Rallye 550s and Champiro tyres I bought it on. There was an immediate improvement as to be expected. The car rode better and felt more surefooted in the wet and dry. I never had an aquaplaning incident on them either. When I sold the car, 6000 miles later, the fronts and rears were down to about 4mm, the wear rate seemed quite good despite the car having been hustled around b-roads and oversteered on occasion. They suit a heavy car well but cannot comment on how they perform at -3mm.

Given 59% while driving a Porsche 987 Boxster S (205/50 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 45,000 average miles
I've run these tyres on a Volvo and managed to get through a lot.

The grip and handling is reassuring in both wet and dry and the noise level is acceptable.

The wear rate on them is quite bad though and I seem to be continuously replacing the fronts. My last set were highlighted as running a bit low after only 5k miles. If you take this and the price into consideration then they are not really a good deal and i'm not putting P7s on the Volvo again.

Given 90% while driving a Peugeot 407Hdi (215/55 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 60,000 average miles
Fitted as OEM and these are the first Pirelli tyres I have used (all Michelin to date). Excellent performance in both wet and dry and quiet. I was pleasantly surprised that I have achieved 60,000Km particularly when the tyre wear is rated at 280.
Only negative is the cost - AUD420 each
