BMW M340I X Drive Tyre Review Highlights

Driving on a combination of roads for 9000 easy going miles
Bought the tires as dedicated winter set, 225/45 / 255/40 R18. After one season i can highly recommend the tires for daily driving. They have excellent driving comfort, fuel efficiency and also are very quiet. Although they produce whistling/howling sound at certain speeds and pavement type, but its barely noticeable. Snow grip is very good and predictable, driving on ice is bit problematic though...but thats a general problem. On dry and wet the tire has good grip, and is pretty predictable but there is a certain level of numbness as to be expected from winter tire. After 9000 miles tires are showing light wear along the outer edges of tire tread. Only concern would be high speed cornering and stability. Around 140-50kmh you get a feeling of body roll although the grip seems to be okay, likely caused by higher tire profile and the fact its a dedicated winter tire. In a straight line car starts to feel unstable around 200-210 km/h.

Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 average miles
Car arrived with the combination of 225/45 R18 in front and 255/40 R18 in back, non-RFT version. Ride comfort was pretty good, along with very good fuel efficiency, showing very little wear after 8000-9000km. When driving normal it has good grip dry, in wet its pretty unpredictable sometimes the rear slipped even at low speed, in straight line it seems to have no problem even under full throttle nor does it seem to be prone to aquaplaning under 90km/h in heavy rain. I was happy with the braking performance in both dry and wet. When the car is driven hard, the tires behave very poorly until they get warm, which also takes some time. If cold, the grip is unpredictable, randomly slipping even on dry with no feedback when its gonna break, after few moments it usually hooks back up. But you dont have a very good control over the car. Once you get the tires hot it has insane grip compared at least compared to when the tires are cold, however they are still bit unpredictable, and the tire profile seems to be bit too much for enthusiastic driving over corners. Can't really comment on wet grip when the tire is warm/hot since it has random problems with slipping even in regular driving...i never dared to try. Another major issue is high speed stability, over 190-200km/h it starts to "float around" and over 220-230 it becomes straight up dangerous to drive even in straight line. Which is weird since the tire is Y rated, and i only experienced this with winter tires before. Overall i can recommend the tire for daily driving, offers very good fuel efficiency along with ride comfort and noise. However its unsuitable if the car will be driven hard often, mainly due to lack of feedback and predictability in combination with BMW numb steering in G-series... Might be more suitable for FWD or front biased car like audi since it has no issues with grip in the front or seem to be prone to under steer. Switching to R19 225/40, 255/35 Continental SC7 for this summer season.

Driving on for 0 miles
Got PZ4 RFT on a new M340i LCI. It's love-hate relationship so far. Above average in the dry, but lacking grip at the limit. Very poor in the wet, car is tail happy even at low speeds. Comfort is fine, not very noisy.
They are ok, but my previous PS4 (not S) were more linear and predictable in all situations, especially in the wet and cold. Could drive them at 2 degrees C with no problem at all.
