Vredestein Sportrac 3

I had these put on to replace Michelin Energy tires to have a bit more grip. Tires are good and give a more direct feel to steering but they feel a bit uncertain in corners - they have full grip but they don't always give this impression. Fuel use did go up after the Engery tires but I feel that while the steering became more direct I did not get back enough extra grip to warrant this extra use. Big downside is fast wear, only 8000km of which mostly highway and less than 5mm of profile left. Not a bad tire but I am trying a different one next.

i rate Vreddys highly, the Ultracs are impressive in Sport mode but these Sportrac3's are not for spirited driving at all, they skid/loose traction in wet but not dangerously, they grip pedictably, though they are my winter set of wheels so see worse weather then other set they are OK, i hear Sportrac2's are better than these but have never used them.
after 4 yrs of winters I have to replace them (all4) x1 has an inside bleb (v.dangerous) 1 is ok 2-3mm, other 2 are on limit, they last well, and performance didn't tail off.

Story so far. 5k miles in. No noticeable wear

I fitted these to my golf in February 2010. I've covered maybe 4k-5k miles since then

The first thing that I found with this tyre was that there was almost no "scrub in" period needed. They worked very well right from the off.

It's the sort of tyre where is not a marked difference between wet and dry performance so definitely promotes confidence. In the dry you'll hear them screech sooner than you'd expect but they maintain grip as well as response (i.e. car still adjustable)

Very confidence inspiring in the wet, but I've not had an emergency stop situation yet. Turn-in response stays good. Grip levels are higher than you'll need for typical "spirited driving", if you're going to drive like a complete tool, no tyre will save you anyway. I have found that I am getting more scrabble coming away from slow corners compared to my old kumho ku31s... but I did change my suspension lately and I am still dialling in the damping.

These tyres won't leave your typical driver, or even enthusiastic driver, wanting. Ultimate grip levels are a shade lower than those of the kumho ku31, but I do admit I like the way the vredesteins respond more faithfully to inputs.

After reading the reviews I decided to buy these over the Conti Sport Contact 2s. Wish I went for the Contis now. It's a great tyre but it's not as good as the Michelins it replaced. Car doesn't feel as stable on the limit but the grip in the wet is slightly better than the Michelins. I'm not sure if it doesn't suit the Golf Mk5 or whether it's the tyre. Don't get me wrong it's a good tyre with grip, just not as much as I was expecting.

Its a bit too early to tell with regards to wear, but they have far better grip than the 2 Avon v5 on the front and Bridestones on the rear.
Its nice to know you can seemingly get a half decent tyre without being ripped off.

Ive always bought Continental Tyres and now after buying these Vredestien Tyres, i realise Continental Tyres are superior and better. I will defintely buy Continental again.BMW being a rear wheel drive, the Vredestien slip when moving off quickly. Fell scary on bends, as i am not used to soft tyres. It seems you will topple over. Rated too high, although i dont feel they deserve it.Made no difference to MPG. In brief not sporty gripping tyres at all whatsoever. :-(

Great grip in wet and dry but on ice they are terrible, no grip at all.
But as it is only icy a few days a year where I live, it isn't a big problem.
I would recommend these tyres .

Phenominal bit of rubber. The wifes corsa came with cheap rubber, very cheap, and with her being a new driver I was panicing about how easy it went even at low speeds on wet roundabouts. Replaced with the above and it's just amazing, like a go kart. I've tried to throw it out in the wet - it just won't go. Buy them if you drive in town and country on wet winding roads especially.

Had these fitted sept after some good reviews, got to say the only time these things dnt grip is in the snow, and luckily the traction control caters for that, but these are some awesome tyres. Only thing i've noticed is the noise... they are quite a bit noisy in comparison to the old continentals cs3.
