Avon ZZ3 Reviews

Given 89% (breakdown) while driving a Mazda 3 Sport 2.2 Diesel 185 BHP (205-50-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
these tyres are great for the money. Love them, they have been replaced by the ZV5 which are just as good. I had ZZ3's fitted to my previous car a Seat Ibiza TDI Sport and covered over 50000 miles (obviously not one set of ZZ3's) this encouraged me to buy again for my new car.

Good set of tyres, only had them at the rear and had them put on when it snowed last year and it made a massive difference. When the roads were BMW graveyards I managed to drive around with minor hassle. Previously has Pilot Sports, which offered more grip in wet and dry but were hopeless in the snow due to their radial tread pattern. Good all round cheap(er) tyre.

A good tyre, except, they went badly out of shape and give terrible road noise.

Driving on a combination of roads for 10,000 average miles
I bought those from UK and i love them since then.
I can do whatever i want with my rx8 even drifting in the wet and still don't get wear on them!
No aquaplane, predictable tyre with good grip in wet and dry!
I will def. buy again!

Driving on mostly country roads for 16,000 easy going miles
Great tyres. Had loads on my Jag and also an MGF. Top tyre. The experience of the Honda type R maybe due to incorrect wheel alignment as I had this on my MGF. Defnititely buy again mid range tyre at mid range prices but a premium tyre in my eyes. Also doesnt add to the balance of payments deficit as they are UK made.

Given 57% (breakdown) while driving a Honda Civic Type R (225-45-17-)
Driving on mostly town for 100 spirited miles
I have put a full set of these on my 03 plate civic type r and im crying the seem to have totaly ruinend the handeling the car felt so planted and stable in cornering and at speed with bridgestone potenza on they seem to have spoilt the drive only good thing is they are quieter! but to be hounest i just want to get them off! and have the type r i used to drive back!!
has anyone else experienced this???

Given 64% (breakdown) while driving a Vauxhall Insignia CDTI 160 (245-45-18-W)
Driving on mostly motorways for 20,000 average miles
I replaced Bridgestones with these tyres, and was very happy with the result, they were quieter than the Bridgestones too. As time and the miles passed, they became noisy, and now with 20,000 miles on them (they last very well) they are suffering from 'cupping' (google it) which makes them VERY noisy and unbalanced. It may just be a combination of car and driving style (75% of time at speed limit on motorway on cruise control) that has caused this.

Driving on a combination of roads for 1,000 spirited miles
Nice dry grip, don't squeal too much and are very progressive as they let go. They also get better the warmer or the more they are worked. They clear a lot of water in the wet and are unlikely to aquaplane which is nice when the family are in the car. Grip wise they have good wet grip but maybe not as much as continental sc3 or other premium tyres. I drive more carefully in the wet but the feedback allows a bit of fun at low speeds. They give a good ride with low road noise. The size I have are xtra load or re-inforced they seem to suit the car well. All said if I had an endless supply of money I would choose a high performance tyre in high end premium brand. However for the price they are excellent performance/cost and far better than the mid-range tyres on the car before (the previous owners Maxxis tyres where a few months old when I changed for the ZZ3's).

Given 97% (breakdown) while driving a Ford Focus RS (235-35-19-W)
Driving on a combination of roads for 5,000 average miles
I have run these on other cars before the Mk2 Focus RS (Volvo V70 D5 / MINI Cooper S) and my expereinces have always been the same: Good wear rates, good dry weather grip, so noise and a good ride. The most striking difference between these and any other tyres I've used is their resistance to panic attacks when hitting deep standing water at motorway speeds! Highly recommended.

Driving on a combination of roads for 20,000 spirited miles
Having covered 112k km (70k miles) over about 3.5 years I've just ordered my 4th set of ZZ3's which kinda says it all in terms of how satisfied I am with these tyres. A fair bit of my driving is on twisty French country lanes so the tyres take a good bit of stick but have yet to disappoint and wear has averaged out at around 36k km (20k miles)but that's conservative as I never run my tyres right down to the wear markers and usually change at around 3mm or so. The current set have done better with perhaps another 5-7k miles left but having suffered a non repairable puncture I've decided to replace all 4 early rather than have such varying tread depths, the price of £55.76 apiece (Camskill) makes it a viable and not too painful solution. A highly recommended tyre. I don't make a habit of exploring the limits BTW hence the nominal 5 score in that category.
