In dry conditions for the first 300 miles or so - its like driving on bars of soap, HOWEVER, once worn in, these tyres are very good. They aren't high performance summer tyres, so dont drive like they are. Once the Ice and snow has kicked in - you will be gob smacked at the difference these babies make to winter driving. BMW's - especially 1 series are HORRIFIC in ice and snow. Walking is both faster and safer. With these on, I have driven up icy and snowy banks that had Quattro Audi's stuck at the bottom. Slush, snow, Ice, heavy rain, these tyres keep on going when all around are slipping and sliding! Yes you can still provoke rear drive fun still(Im pushing 260bhp after a remap)with drifts / sliding is VERY controlled. Highly recommended! And comfier than RFT's even in XL format!

Have spent a couple of weeks driving around on these now, the last week of which has been on snow. Having a rear drive BMW these tyres have been a god send. Last winter in the snow I had a TT with Quattro which was amazing, I was worried this year as most of the cars I saw stuck were Beemers or Mercs, but with these tyres I've had no problems at all even starting on steep snowy slopes. I can't recommend these highly enough. Well worth the money for the peace of mind alone.

I have to say I am quite happy of these tyres. They are very effective on snow and ice. The issues come up when you drive at a higher speed! They are pretty slow in giving the direction (you have to anticipate quite a bit the bend)and they lose precision.
Maybe for my car (BMW 123d) are a bit below the needs but they are definetly good tyres.

This set was the original one mounted by BMW. Definetly not the set I was dreaming of. They were ROF kind of tyres. In general I did not dislike them but on a quite sporty and "amusing" car like the 123d they were not suiting right! The back become very "light" on wet conditions and force you to reduce the speed. I would say good tyres but wrong for this type of car. Pity that BMW was not aware of it.
Tyre wear was reaaly bad, got 4000 miles before needing replacing! Otherwise good grip and low road noise.

I have had these tyres on my rear axle (BMW 123D M SPORT)and 215 / 40 / 18 / Y on the fronts. The front tyre wear was acceptible (25k miles) but the rear have been beyond pathetic. I have had the car 2 years and replaced the rears 4 times at a combined price of almost £500 a go!
Last changed them in Oct 2010 and less than 5k miles later they are already on the legal limit. Yes I driver a powerful rear wheel drive car but no tyre should last only 5k miles!!!
Absolutely hate these tyres. Handling is ok but nothing special. Comfort is poor due to runflats.
There are no viable alternatives for these tyres for my car - got to the point where I am getting rid of the car as it is too expensive to buy tyres for.
Anyway all I can say is watch out if you are looking at BMWs - they are brilliant cars with terrible tyres!!!
HATE THEM!
