Bridgestone Turanza T001 Reviews - Page 3

Given 64% while driving a Vauxhall Insignia grand sport 1.5t petrol (225/55 R17) on a combination of roads for 13,000 average miles
13,000 miles from new and already 2mm from having to replace front. Rear are like new. The grip in dry/wet/snow has been really good, they can be noisy on poor Road surfaces but never notice much as radio is usually up too loud. for the price to repair I will go with uniroyal rainsport 3 as they are a better tyre and cheaper but have similar wear.

Given 74% while driving a Toyota Camry (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 37,000 average miles
My car was initially fitted with 4 Turanza T001 tyres and last around 60,000km. Good in the dry road but average in the wet condition. Tyre wearing was not bad too. I would say they were the comfort touring tyres.

Given 39% while driving a Ford Mondeo Mk3 1.8 (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 28,583 easy going miles
A really not good tyre to buy. If it comes with a low budget price it will be good to fit them for emergency purpose. We fit them before 4 years in our Ford Mondeo 1.8 125hp Ghia '04. They're the worst tyres we've been ever fit along with some kind of BF Goodrich we had years ago. Grip in dry tarmac was not good even when they was fresh installed. You have the feeling of planning in the road as you never felt your steering wheel and the car itself gripping nowhere. Braking in dry was not terrifying but when you hit the brakes the car stops a lot of meters away, while sliding like you have not abs. The same in wet tarmac grip and braking, not good at all,you feel safety walking away from you. Wear rate was not good, again. After 1 and a half year you clearly see rifts and small pieces of rubber were missing. They're "vanishing" extremely quick. Strangely, the rest 2 and a half years they worn out a bit slower. Road noise is average, not very noisy not quiet, as ride comfort was average too. The best tyres we have ever fit was the SportContact 2. It will be "ok" if they are very low budget tyres but when you give your money for Bridgestones you deserve more. Very low quality rubber. I can admit that the T001 are selling good out in the market and also that not every tyre fitting well in every car BUT that not mean that these tyres are very bad and of course i will not buy again any Bridgestone models because i had a very bad "reconciliation" with Adrenalines RE002 in my other car, a Fabia vrs. Again a very bad tyre. Strongly not recomended.

Given 67% while driving a BMW 318D (205/55 R16 Q) on a combination of roads for 9,000 easy going miles
I had to replace the rear tyres on a BMW after 14.000 km of normal family driving. Poor durability. :(

Given 76% while driving a Mazda 6 Wagon (225/45 R19 W) on mostly motorways for 20,000 spirited miles
Well, after reading the reviews here, I was very unhappy that my car came with this rubber as a factory fitment. But I was really pleasantly surprised: tires hold the road great, are very direct, give good feedback and are even comfortable (my dimension is a rather strange 225 45 19). In the rain they are ok, had some big puddles during high speeds and they proved themselves ok. Wear is good also for now, I rotate them every 10.000 km. The only downside is that on less then perfect surfaces they can be noisy. This is my first Bridgestone experience, and I can tell that they are a premium brand and delivered, but also considering the price I will probably go with another brand when I wear this set down. Hope this helps.

Given 56% while driving a SEAT Toledo (205/55 R16 W) on mostly motorways for 12,000 average miles
These tires aren't good for sporty driving, as simple as that. In the wet they are great. The wear is horrible but the rolling resistance is quite good.
Anyway, I had the Turanzas ER300 and now I have the T001 and I prefer 100% the ER300.

Given 83% while driving a SEAT LEON ST 1.6TD SE Dynamic Technology (225/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
I have these on my SEAT Leon. Currently done just over 10,000 on them since I got the car new and they have been fantastic in wet and dry. My only reservation is the road noise but I'm not sure if it's the tyres or car at fault here, or both. I haven't tried any other tyres on the car so cannot 100% blame the tyres.

Given 68% while driving a Mercedes Benz C220 CDI Estate (225/45 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 17,000 average miles
Had to replace hem after 17,000miles of normal family driving. Poor durability but otherwise a fair tyre.

Given 54% while driving a Ford S Max (225/50 R17) on a combination of roads for 20,000 easy going miles
These tyres fitted to rear of 2.0 diesel S-Max - lasted only 20,000 miles of driving kids around, much less mileage than expected. Ended up with a puncture in one, was a nail but the very low tread didn't help. Other rear tyre also very low and getting changed tomorrow... wont be getting turanzas...

Given 93% while driving a Renault Laguna I (195/65 R15 H) on a combination of roads for 43,000 average miles
I installed these Bridgestone Turanza T001 tyres after having used 4xBridgestones Ecopia EP001S before (see my other review).
The T001s are much more solid and came with ~8mm tread, instead of the 6mm of the EP001S. Coming from a A-A-69dB tyre to a C-B-71dB tyre I saw my fuel consumption average go up a little to around 56-59 MPG and the noise also went up a little, although the main noise source remains the engine and the tyres do not sound anything like the bad bearing noise of other tyres I've heard in the past. The grip was always very good, in wet or dry conditions. Only now, almost to the 1.6mm mark (with 43k miles), I started feeling some aquaplaning when it rains very hard and the water accumulates in the road. They are stiffer than the EP001S, although they remain very comfortable. I think they have the best compromise between road feedback and comfort.
I tottaly recommend these tyres. In the coming days, I will probably install the replacement T001 EVO or the new T005 (B-A-71dB9) as I expect they are improvements over the T001 and I feel confidence on the Turanza line from Bridgestone.

Given 62% while driving a Alfa Romeo Giuiletta (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 14,500 average miles
I don't tend to push the tyre anywhere near the limit so for my driving I cant criticize Dry and wet grip nor have explored the limits of handling.
Where I an dissatisfied is:
i) the wear rate - the fronts only had 0.3mm of legal trad left at around 13.5K whereas my previous Giulietta's needed new fronts at 25K (Continentals) and were still legal at 23K (Michelins). As I haven't suddenly become a boy racer I can only conclude it is the rubber.
ii) Blocking of the rear tyres. This became noticeable around 10K and sounds like a wheel bearing noise. Now done 14.5K and the noise is slowly getting louder.

So not only (IMHO) do I have to replace the front tyres prematurely but also the rears as well. Assuming Bridgestone accept some liability they will no doubt want to charge me for the rubber used.

I replaced the front with Bridgestones again and the jury is still out on the wear rate. If I replace the rears it is unlikely to be with the same make.
