Read up on these tyres before taking the plunge, some said good some said bad, however as i was in need of tyres urgently for MOT and these were available had some fitted.
previous tyres were Michelin Pilot Sport and before that Conti's.
ok first thoughts were not favourable, tyres from cold seemed skittish and not confidence inspiring, however that was direct from having them fitted,
it didn't take long to start to like these tyres as i found it extrememly hard to get them to breakaway under hard cornering!
a 200 mile drive to Rockingham Motor Speedway using motorway and b roads proved unspectactular and by that i mean they did their job without drama, no excessive road noise, no tramlining on poor roads, in my opinion just as good as most.
on track these tyres were excellent! for anyone understanding the technical tight twisty circuit that Rockingham has you will know how hard tyres have to work and the MA-Z1 performed really well, never losing traction, always stable and confidence inspiring, in short they never let me down and i am really impressed with them.

afraid i can't comment on wet grip as not yet had the pleasure of driving in wet conditions and the same goes for wear only 500+ miles since they were fitted.
overall would i recommend these tyres ? most empathicaally YES!

got these tyres from citroen garage had them on now five months done 6ooo miles on them still 5mm left on them grip brilliant i would put these tyres on any car

Update to a previous review.

Now done 15000 miles on these tyres, and my opinion has dropped dramatically.

Dry grip is ok, but dramatically under steer when mildly pushed. Wet grip is hopeless, the tyres just don't grip, and go through any standing water on the motorway, hold on for dear life! Pulls heavily to the side. More than any tyre I've used before on any car.

Ride quality is hard and loud, not quite loud enough to require shooting, but not far off.

Tyres also perished after 8 months on the car, cracked on the inside of every groove.

Reasonable amount of rim protection though.

Avoid this tyre at all costs, few extra pounds can buy a far superior tyre (eg: Falken 452)

Given 74% while driving a Audi A6 (255/40 R17) on a combination of roads for 9,000 spirited miles
Bought the car with these on and was prepaired to change them , however I have been pleasently suprised by them ,for the price they are great. Dry grip is really very good and progressive and confidance inspiring and drift a treat. No bad experiances in the wet but they do not fully inspire wet wether confidance.
Wearing alot more on the N/S than O/S which is abit wierd. (have been on car for 9000miles , about 3000 miles left in them at currunt consuption.
They are very noisy.
Would not have concidered putting these on myself ,but I must say after using them ,at the price I am tempted to put them on again.

I bought these tyres after reading these reviews, I can gladly say all the good things people have been saying about them is absolutely true. They're the best tyres I've had. Ford Kas are known as little Go-Karts, and these tyres make that sensation even better, it really does just go where you point it. I have to really make an effort to get them to lose grip in the dry on corners, I can accelerate through corners with only very minimal, completely expected and controllable under-steer. They're very confidence inspiring. My car has no ABS and my previous tyres had a limit where I could "overload" the tyres with the brakes and slide, so when I had these fitted, I did a similar test to see where these tyres' limit is. It's beyond that of my brakes, In warm dry weather, I literally cannot press the brake pedal hard enough to make them lose grip and slide, with new Mintex pads and discs, too. In the wet, they behave almost exactly the same as they do in the dry, not like some tyres that completely change their characteristics as soon as it gets wet. The grip is obviously slightly less in the wet, but they really do grip well even in heavy rain. If you do manage to loose traction on a corner, the feedback is great and the tyres regain traction almost immediately.

These are quite hard to get hold of now and dealers offered me "similar" tyres such as some "evergreen" crap. I'm so glad I stuck it out and hunted these down.

They look awesome too, with the really agressive tread pattern. They look better in real life than in pictures, too.

Road noise is a little higher than my previous tyres, but not excessively loud.

As for comfort, I've got low profile versions of these, so can't expect a smooth quiet ride anyway, but they're comfortable in the way that you know you can trust the rubber you're sat on to stop you if you need to and to keep your car under control if you corner a bit too fast...

In all, they're thoroughly recommended.

bought a set of these for a seat arosa 16v sport that was basically a ready to go track car.. it was lowered with stiff suspension and wider track (alot more punishing on tyres).. i hadyokohama s drives on beforeand i cansay in wet and dry they exeed any premium tyre!.. in the dry i have yet to get them to break contact with the road and in the wet you cn have great confidence in the tyre as there holding on the road is exellent.. they dont squeel... there comfy (even with a lowered car). the rears that were on the front have done 15k and not even half worn n just had another 2 on the front. for £40 a corner inc vat i wouldnt put anything else on my car anymore.

When I took delivery of a 2 year old Jaguar XF I was really pissed off that the car had a new set of "cheepo" tyres on it. I was going to complain to the dealer as this was a Jaguar approved car and I expected premium rubber. However after driving the car for a few days I found I really could not fault these MA-Z1's at all.
In the dry, their grip is exeptional. I love rear wheel drive cars, have had 3 BMW's previously and enjoy getting their back ends out on corners when the mood takes me. This is very hard on the tyres and again these MAXXIS have impressed with wear rates. They are very progressive, no OMG! moments at all. In fact the grip is so good you have to push hard to get them to give up the grip!

In the wet, I would have to say, just as impressed. Of course you get less grip than dry but still loads there. I was surprised to read in another review here that they did not like these tyres for deep water. I totally disagree. I think they cut through puddled or surface water as well or probably better than any other tyre I have used.

In the snow, well this year has been super mild so only a few days in snowy conditions. But these tyres are all season and worked way better than a premium summer tyre. To the point I have decided to scrap my idea of getting a set of Winter rubber and instead purchest a set of snow chains for emergencys. A £40 option v's £1000!!!!

The rear tyres are now getting close to needing replaced and as expected, they are not performing as well as they did when new. I had no hesitation to look at putting these back on the car so was further delighted when I found a dealer locally selling these fitted, ballanced and with VAT for just over £90 a corner. Compared to premium tyres at around £200-£300 each!

If I had to make a negetive remark, it would be that they are a bit noisier than a Premium Summer tyre. But for all the positives, that is a very small price to pay.

In short, love these tyres, they preform well, look great, are afordable and the MAXXIS babes are gorgeous ;) Well done guys......

Bset tyre ever put on a lancer considering its price. Traction on dry...hmm..exceptional, on wet road..hmmm..good to great. Tyre does not last that long though because of such grip I think. Definitely buying another set

Given 87% while driving a Ford Focus (215/40 R17) on a combination of roads for 400 spirited miles
I have just put these on my focus 1.6 with after market 17s.
They are really good. Quieter than Goodyears, better in everyway to Accelera, (they are rubbish could spin the wheels in 3rd in the wet, with less than 100bhp!) There is a bit of noise but not too bad, worked well in the recent snow and grip well on roundabouts where the goodyears let go.
Overall very good and i want to put them on the back too, but will wait til after christmas.

Had these from new when I bought the car off a friend and they had just been put on. Got the car off him in January, its now late Oct the same year. Here are my views

Pro's -
Grip is really good in the dry, the car is a weighty beast but these hold it in corners and under acceleration really well.
Seem nice and progressive, so on dodgy welsh a/b roads with poor surfaces, when it does slide a little it's totally controllable and expected.
Rolling resistance seems pretty low, car carries speed off power nice and easy. Great in traffic jams when you just want to roll forward under gravity!
Plenty of braking power, brakes nice and straight, tested this a few times on motorway runs!!

Con's -
Grip in the wet is not the best especially as the tires get close to the wear indicators at about 3mm. Not as bad as the 'ditch finders' on my last car, but not confidence inspiring. If its a bit greasy, maybe some diesel down, they will slide out and the car will go straight on. Braking seems ok though.
Dire if you need to drive across a wet/muddy field!
Put 20K on them and the tires are down to 3mm on average, so wear seems a little high. But I do drive it hard. Rears are down to 5mm.
Tyre noise is ok at slower speeds, around 45-55 they are really noisy, almost like a resonant from them, so can grate a bit on your nerves on A/B road runs. Higher speeds noise tails off.

Overall seems a decent tire. Can't comment on cost as I didnt pay for them but as 9 months in with the tires and already need to replace the fronts I'm hoping they were reasonably priced.

I won't be buying again as their performance in the wet leads me to think they will be dire in the snow. As well as the noise as A road speeds driving me a bit mad at times. In a dry climate though, with decent roads, probably onto a budget winner.

Given 80% while driving a Mazda 5 (205/50 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 1,000 spirited miles
I booked a pair of MAXIS MAZ1 tyres to replace my rear ones on my Mazda 5 Sport - Halfords fitted a pair of Nordexx Stratus(No area to rate these) instead as an 'upgrade' as the Maxxis were not available - the Nordexx were dire - with Dynamic Stability Control kicking in at the slightest excuse - with DSC off, the tyres sliding in the dry, and in the wet, positively dangerous, with over steer as the back slid out (with DSC off) - I complained and Halfords replaced the wrongly supplied Nordexx with my original choice - the Maxxis MAZ1 - what a difference.
The Maxxia was safe and sure footed - no slipping or sliding and the DSC not activating at all, even in the wet and pushing the car just to test the level of grip.
Much quieter that the Nordexx ones too.
The tread pattern is very similar to the Uniroyal Rainsport I have on the front.
Too soon to comment on wear, but the Mazda 5 is very hard on tyres anyway.

I would, based on the use to date, buy the MAXXIS MAZ1 Tyres again - the price is excellent, but the performance not down with other budget tyres (as my direct comparison can show).
