Falken ZE912 Reviews

Given 64% (breakdown) while driving a Mitsubishi lancer (225-45-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 25,000 average miles
Great tyre for a run-around vehicle or everyday use (Not a high performance tyre).

Tyres have lasted 2 years (40,000kms) with daily use & long road trip use.

Were fitted on my car (215/45/18) when I bought it.

Not the best tyre once you start pushing it's limits. Aquaplanes badly & although offers good grip in the wet under normal driving, it offers little grip in the wet when pushed hard (so take care).

Offers no rim protection.
Little to no road noise on asphalt roads, high road noise on chip-seal roads.
Used in New Zealand.

Been an advocate of Falken for a few years having had 502's 512's then 912's. Not impressed with the 912's. Even so that I had my mate put it up on the ramp and then put the car into gear on a jack to see the results. Tyres wobble out of round and side to side. Contacted Falken who don't agree even though production has gone from Japan to an other not so good production place. Won't buy Falkens again.

I had these fitted to the rear of the car not too long ago and when new I thought they look ok apart from the overly narrow shoulders and the not too deep tread depth. the dry grip as mentioned by others is very good likewise the wet grip, but the ride is a bit harsh...but they hold their pressures well and the side wall is what i'd call firm. But where these tyres fall down is the wear rate my car is light in the back but they are going down very fast and for these reason I will not have these again unless I am really stuck for tyres I will be putting on Uniroyal Rainexperts when they are gone like I have on the fronts now they are a good tyre.
Cheers

brill value for money - much quieter than the oe run flats and a fraction of the cost. don't drive fast enough to comment on the handling at the limit, for day to day they are absolutely spot on - the oe's were nigh on £250 for each whereas these cost £440 for all 4!!

Replacement for 0E Michelin's - car feels so much nicer - grip dramatically improved in both wet and dry conditions and ride comfort also better; previous squealing in tight cornering completely eliminated and noise levels much lower - seems to be a total win/win at a bargain price - too early comment on wear but initially seems acceptable - premium performance at a budget price - highly recommended.

Driving on mostly country roads for 4,000 average miles
Bought these to replace 6 yr old OE Michelins. I'm hugely disappointed in them. Spent a great deal of time researching before I chose the Falkens, and had been delighted with the set on our runabout Polo. However on an Impreza beware. Firstly the softer sidewalls make the car wander and roll absurdly in corners to the point where I have lost any confidence in the cars handling. Main dealer checked car suspension which proved to be fine and fitted a set of Michelins on spare rims - the car regained its' (previously) excellent handling. Secondly I've never come across tyres so sensitive to correct pressure settings and the effect that sudden changes in ambient teperatures can have on them. Thirdly the car has lost 10% of its' (previously excellent as I have a light right foot) mpg.
I'm not saying Falkens are poor tyres (the Sinceras on our Polo are very good) but I am saying that on my Impreza they are an expensive disaster.

Fitted for 60 quid per corner you just cant go wrong.

Dry grip is up there with the best of them, and in the wet they are decent, clear standing water well, and give lots of confidence on twisty country roads.

Have had these on for 3k and they still look like new, I never thought much of Falkens until now and I am pleasantly surprised.

Driving on mostly country roads for 10,000 average miles
Bought a pair of these nearly 3 years back after my 1 year old Avon ZZ3 were down to the threads on the very inside of the tyre! Thought it could have been something out of line - but after getting checked, all seemed ok, and Falkens have been spot on (won't be buying Avons again!). Wasn't my driving either, as I was being careful the first year of owning the car.

Purchased a second pair to get a complete set around a year, to 2 years ago. Excellent tyres. Loads more grip than the Avon ZZ3 and Pirelli PZero Nero tyres my car came with. Was getting understear and losing traction in some fairly sharp, low speed corners, even in the dry - which I couldn't understand. Falkens have been ace. I've done over 10,000 on the first pair and around 6 or 7 on the second. Wear seems to be pretty even and good so far, even though now I drive with a bit more 'spirit'.

Survived a 6 hour snow journey last christmas. Obviously nothing is going to be great in the snow, ice and sludge. But I think they did really well. Managed to drag herself up 'slip'roads where lorries and other cars were struggling. Got to my destination after surviving the dangers of the M4 and M5.

Back to normal conditions, you can feel the road under you - which I like, but also quite comfortable on most roads.

Will most likely be buying again. Fiesta ST 150. £62 - £67 each

Driving on mostly motorways for 11,000 spirited miles
I've never had tyres wear so quick as these Just over 10000 miles down to 2mm tread depth. Not the best tyres all round average performance.

Used Falkens before another model can't remember exact tyre but bought these on strength of previous ones not as good this time.

£84 each from Macsams. on-line.
