205/40 17 Tyre Review Highlights

Nexen N Fera SU4 rated 100% while driving a Skoda Fabia 1.2TSI 77KW(stage 1 to 100KW)
Driving on mostly motorways for 500 spirited miles
I just bought these tires after reading the reviews on this site. These tires have better official ratings than any tire in the same class from Continental, Bridgestone...
I must say that I am amazed by them. The grip is phenomenal and the feedback is amazing. I got the feeling that these tires have a very low rolling resistance, as the car almost goes by itself :)
I tested it on a long motorway drive and also in the country side curved road and they always held my car firmly on the road.

I will update my review if I find any problem with them, but for now I recommend them to anybody who wants a medium priced tyre with a good grip in dry and wet.

Avon ZZ5 rated 100% while driving a Ford Fiesta ST
Driving on mostly country roads for 0 spirited miles
Just had a full set of these fitted to my fiesta st. What can I say, from driving out the garage with these on the road noise is reduced and ride quality seems so much better than my previous Avon zz3. I tried to replace the zz3 with another set of zz3's but for some reason the garage couldn't get them in my size so I ended up getting the zz5's instead. I'm happy that I did. These seem to be even better than the zz3's when it comes to grip and ride quality in both wet and dry. I have deffinetelly noticed better grip in wet weather on the same stretch of road I often go down.
I have had all sorts of tyres on the st…

Yokohama a539's - these were dangerous. In the dry they were good but in the wet it was like driving on ice, they were so unpredictable, you could just loose control with normal driving.

Wanli s9000 - decided to try these knowing they were a budget tyre. What a mistake!!! After a while they started going down. I thought I must have a puncture but I didn't. Basically they were leaking round the rim so I ended up having to buy a another full set. This is when I decided to buy a quality brand.

Avon zz3 - this was the first set of tyres that I was truly happy with. A quality brand, great grip in the dry good grip in the wet.

Avon zz5 - recently had these fitted. I knew I wanted another set of Avons considering the price is great and the quality is fantastic. As far as I'm concerned you won't get better for the price, these seem even better than the zz3's, dry and wet grip is fantastic road noise is reduced and ride quality is improved over my previous set. I will certainly stick to avons. It's nice knowing you have quality rubber underneath you that you can trust.

I hope this review helps. The moral of the story is, from my experience buying cheap doesn't work, infact it ends you costing you more in the long run. If your into your fast cars and require good rubber I would recommend Avon...

Hankook Ventus V12 evo2 rated 100% while driving a SEAT Ibiza Cupra 20VT
Driving on a combination of roads for 500 spirited miles
A fantastic tyre so much better than the pirelli p zero Nero where the p zero was noisy hard riding and rubbish in the wet and didn't last long.the hankooks are just amazing so quiet i am getting hardly any tyre noise at well past normal speeds they are much more comfortable as well my car is lowered but these make the ride so much better and the grip is brilliant wet or dry and they are supposed to wear better than uni rs3 (result) I would recommend these tyres to anyone who wants a quiet grippy tyre that's cheaper than the competition

Runway ENDURO 916 Plus rated 100% while driving a Toyota MK2 MR2 Turbo
Driving on a combination of roads for 29000 easy going miles
When I saw the reviews about this tyre I was quite shocked at how low their rating was, this is more than just an average tyre guys.

I’ve been running Enduro 916 Runways for about 6 years now on the back of my 1993 Toyota MR2 Turbo with 17” rims, my tyre size is 205/40 and they have worn incredibly well I’m now at the end of my second set of these and both sets covered just under 30 K miles each set which is quite an achievement for a rear wheel sports car but then again I don’t drive like a loon, they have done me proud over the last 6 years and I’ve driven my little sports car in some of the hardest conditions known to man, they have performed absolutely brilliantly in all hardcore weather.

I went for this tyre because it carries the M+S label and I wanted all weather tyres because summer tyres on a rwd car is dodgy at the best of times even in the summer months and don’t even go there when it comes to using summer tyres in the winter, lol lets put it this way when I first had my MR2 it came with summer tyres on and it taut me how to drive with skill in the winter haha it was like driving on a flipping ice rink, anyway getting back to what I was saying.. yea I wanted an all weather tyre that I wouldn’t have to un-mount in the summer and the enduro seemed the perfect choice for my low budget, the only snag I would say might cause issues to others is they can be quite loud in the summer months but when you look at the tread pattern it’s hardly surprising, I lived with it because I’m partially deaf lol but more importantly I know they were gripping the road well for which they did in all conditions.

One thing I would like to highlight about these are their ability in snow, I do a 60 miles trip to work and back every day and my rout is packed full of killer hills that would make Everest look like a speed bump! and in the winter this rout gets very dangerous and leaden with snow, ice and god knows what have you and I judge a tyre on how well it can perform on this route, I never once got stuck in 6 years, the car stormed through serious snow, it’s quite funny when there’s me in a little rear wheel sports car going up serious hills and you have 4x4s stuck at the bottom haha I’ve had some looks as to say “Huuuh” and yet my car sits quite low to the ground which is another plus for these tyres, so yea from my experience of these tyres I honestly cant say a bad word about them, I’m now changing back to my original Toyota 15” wheels as 17” are to hard a ride for me now, but smaller enduros are harder to find and as I mount my own tyres I can’t seem to buy them online as well as the 17” ones so I’m fitting on 205/55 Toyo S953 all weather tyres so I wait and see how they perform against the Enduro'S

Nankang NS2 rated 100% while driving a Volkswagen mk2 golf gti heavily modified
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 spirited miles
based on what i am about to type many of you will think i am a maniac , but this proves just how good these BUDGET TYRES really are .i had these on a modified mk2 golf gti . they were great fun with loads of grip in all conditions right until a blind old lady t boned me . i was speeding excesivly about 120mph , she was doing about 60mph , i saw her at the last second simply cross the junction without stopping . even at 120 i was able to swerve out ( under full control ) and allow her to hit my passenger door ( rather than me hit her driver door ) therefore preventing a double fatality . basically you cant just write off a tyre because you have lost traction , there are other factors that create grip , my golf had coil over suspension (increase in road holding) , strut braces ( increase in road holding) ,a front splitter and rear spoiler ( these increase down force making the car stick to the road better ) . when the car was coupled with 4 nankangs it stuck like glue . also to get full benefit from tyres you need a matched set , with even wear , and the correct presures . as well if you are going to drive fast into corners expect to slide , then it wont be a shock if it does happen and you can take a countering mesure . on a final note the tyres are so good that i have taken the time to source a set to go on my current vehicle .

Fantastic all round tyre! The best road tyre i've used and i've used a few ! Stunning wet grip and all the dry grip you'll ever need! Have done 50+ laps of the nurburgring on this set of tyres in wet and dry conditions plus four uk track days fantastic! Not as good as a real track day tyre on the track but ok for 9 min laps of the ring in my diesel so must be ok.

Falken ZIEX ZE914 EcoRun rated 97% while driving a Ford Fiesta Zetec S
Driving on a combination of roads for 14000 spirited miles
Great tyre at a fantastic price! I drive all over Scotland and in North-East England and these tyres have NEVER let me down. I am a very enthusiastic driver and enjoy driving hard but these tyres are just so good at speed! very predictable in all conditions, fantastic very wet weather performance and progressive in the winter (obviously winter tyres are better for this however they are better than all other summer tyres I have owned!). They can be a bit prone to wheel spin at roundabouts if you have to keen a right foot however they are always controlled and never make you doubt their supreme grip. Best tyre I have ever used under £100/tyre and I would highly recommend.
