225/50 17 Tyre Review Highlights

Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO rated 100% while driving a Toyota Prius
Driving on a combination of roads for 150 average miles
MY Car = Toyota Prius Plus.

Old Tyre - Pirelli.

New Tyre = Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO 215/50R17 95W XL

I would not say that Pirelli was a bad tyre.
But as soon as I had replaced the front 2 old Pirelli tyre with the new Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO 215/50R17 95W XL, I could see a drastic positive difference in my car.

Road grip was excellent and superb - Both dry and wet !
Noise inside the car was reduced.
I started enjoying my rides.

Look forward to replace my tyres for the rear two wheels.

WIill always recommend and will buy again !

Michelin Energy Saver AS rated 51% while driving a Honda Accord
Driving on mostly motorways for 50000 easy going miles
Good economy but hydroplanes easily so nightmare in rain. Road noise a bit on the higher side. I will not buy them again just because of the rains, though this is fine in snow.

2 years and 15000 miles in, my tyres are cracked between the tread blocks, still have 3-4mm tread on them, this is really disappointing, won't recommend anyone to buy them

Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 rated 44% while driving a BMW 320i
Driving on a combination of roads for 1300 average miles
These are EXTREMELY NOISY tyres. My car is BMW F30 320 iA xDrive and the winter tyres I have (Continental VikingContact 7) are very quiet - can't hear almost anything from the tyres. But these Goodyear summer tyres - oh my.... Horrible noise even at low speeds. During wet conditions the noise is much worse.
I regret buying these and will replace them with some other brand even though I have driven only 2 000 km with these.
Interestingly Goodyear Efficient Grip 1 tyres were good and quiet on my BMW 530 but this 2-version is just an epic fail.

Continental UltraContact rated 90% while driving a Mercedes Benz C180
Driving on a combination of roads for 3000 average miles
Excellent grip both in dry and wet conditions. Only aquaplaning resistance in deeper puddles seems a bit average compared to my previous Michelin Primacy 4s. Its not bad, but just less impressive. Otherwise grip levels are similar. Road feedback is decent although steering response is not very sharp as the tyre has very soft sidewall. Otherwise handling characteristics are very balanced and safe. Grip runs out progressively and there are no obvious understeer or oversteer characteristics. Feels very safe and controllable even at limit. Once again compared to my previous Primacy 4s this feels better. Primacy 4s had a ton of grip, but once you ran out of the grip, there was quite a lot of sudden understeer. UltraContacts give better confidence at the limit. Best part of the tyre is comfort an noise levels. It's super smooth and silent compared to Primacy 4s which were in my opinion quite harsh and had nasty sound. after around 5000km can't really comment of wear. At least there is no noticeable wear at this stage, so seems good.
Overall I would recommend these to anyone looking for comfortable and safe touring tyre. If sportiness is very important for you, then look elsewhere.

Vredestein Quatrac Pro rated 70% while driving a Peugeot 607
Driving on a combination of roads for 30 spirited miles
Excellent tire for all seasons. I use them as a winter set because I live in an area where there is little snow in the winter but there is a lot of rain and temperatures are -3 to +15, so I don't need real winter tires. Extremely quiet tire, excellent both in the wet and in the dry, and solid in the snow. I have covered about 30,000 km and now they have 6.5 mm. It is also very comfortable and resistant to hitting potholes on the road, of which there are many in Serbia. The only downside is the high price. Next set I will try Kleber Quadraxer3 or Fulda Multicontrol because they are cheaper in size 225/50r17

Fulda SportControl 2 rated 87% while driving a Peugeot 607
Driving on a combination of roads for 8000 spirited miles
Excellent tires for an acceptable price. I mostly drove premium brands, but last month I bought Fulda Sportcontrol2 on sale and they are better than I expected. Extremely quiet, excellent on dry and wet, comfortable and give a nice feeling on the steering wheel. The car is a Peugeot 607 2.2hdi 170HP and the size is 225/50r17. The price was around 400e for 4 tires. My sincere recommendation

Kumho Winter Craft WP52 rated 74% while driving a Audi A4 1.8T Quattro
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 average miles
Fitted these tyres late 2023. The price was good and the reviews were OK. After one very mild winter I can say that these tyres are not perfect but they don't disappoint.

Dry grip is good, wet grip is also ok. Under braking the car is predictable and stable. Didn't experience any aquaplanning at all.

They're very resistant to wear, after about 8000km they appear good as new, but time will tell how long they last.

Grip on snow is mediocre but combined with the AWD the car managed everything I threw at it, from 20cm of fresh snow to awfully wet sludge on a dirt road, they got me through.

They're very comfortable over potholes, a bit noisy but that's expected from an aggressive tyre pattern, they're structurally strong although a bit heavy (tyre fitter told me it's the heaviest he had at that size) and they increased fuel consumption slightly. They're not sporty but they're not meant to be, so I won't be commenting on that.

The Pirelli Sottozero 3 I had before were a bit better in every way but the price on the Kumho's makes them worth it.

Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 rated 80% while driving a Volkswagen (B8) 1.4 TSI (150 Hp) DSG ACT
Driving on a combination of roads for 16000 average miles
The Vector 4 season Gen 3 are actually the perfect tyres for your car. I've drove these in most conditions and they've never failed me. The dry braking is probably a touch off the best but as the tyres wear (which they do slowly) that'll become better so you can evolve with the feel of them. In the wet these things come into their own no aquaplaning or braking issues. Even in snow they're terrific, that being said I did have traction light appear when going through really deep snow but the tyre was able to get me through this. Fuel wise I can't really speak about my car takes around 20 liters per week roughly 35 euro. I look after the tyre pressures putting 36 psi in all 4. For me it's the wear factor that makes these good value and the versatility that makes these the perfect all round tyre. You need to be on the correct tyre all the time and you will the Vector gen 3.

Laufenn S Fit EQ Plus rated 91% while driving a Audi A4 Avant B9
Driving on a combination of roads for 509 average miles
These tyres when brand new come with 7.6mm of tread unlike some well known brands that come with 6.5mm. Compared with the michelin crossclimate 2 which I have just taken off I am getting the same mpg which shows they have a good rolling resistance. Plenty of grip in both the wet and dry. I am going to use these all summer and report back later in the year. Don't be fooled into buying branded tyres when you can get good tyres like these at a fraction of the price. I do recommend these

Uniroyal RainSport 5 rated 100% while driving a Peugeot 3008 exclusive

Responsive handling, not much roll resistance which provides an efficient ride. Surprisingly good and reliable in all conditions

Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 rated 92% while driving a Honda 1.6 I DTEC
Driving on a combination of roads for 500 spirited miles
Very good grip, handling and comfort, both on dry and wet.
Responsive enough when in need of pushing hard while overtaking - little difference vs. summer tires.
But what surprised me most, was the shockingly low noise inside the car, including at high speeds.
I barely hear them, even less than my old Turanza summer tires.
And of course, much better than Nokian WR-D4 winter they replaced.
Seems that the smoother curved lines of the tread pattern have their role in keeping tires quiet.
Very pleased with them, highly recommended.
